the only battle shouens that i fully watched are dragon ball, AOT, and rouruni kenshin, i did watched 4 seasons of hero academia and i kinda like it. the first 3 seasons were very enjoyable to watch, then in season 4 there was that "slideshow" incident i think it was, that we got a slideshow instead of an actual battle scene

then i went into season 5 and was bored to tears so i stopped.

i do want to watch narutu, bleach, maybe even one piece, but godammit i aint gonna watch shows with 500 episodes. its not like we were kids and you watched it all after school. too much time consuming.

this is why i prefer seasonal anime like hero academia, which i like. its just that sometimes it gets really boring.

now its about to end right? should i give it another try?

Season 4 was infamous for it's downgrade in animation, but thankfully it was only this one time. Rest of the series has very good animation.
Season 5 had infamously boring first half, but rest onward is when really good stuff happens.
Your patience will be rewarded.

Yeah it fell off in S5, picked back up in S6 and made a big comeback in S7. The animation is top notch in all of them though. Also talking about the big 3, watch Naruto and Bleach without the fillers so that will cut down quite a few episodes. For One Piece you can either wait for the remake to come out which will have a better pacing. But the best way is to read the manga. It's perfect. Anyway all those episodes of the Big 3 are worth it

Just watch Naruto part 1. MHA doesnt get better past the point you already watched. Ive seen up to season 7 and it's only mildly enjoyable when focused on Hawks and Endeavor but nothing special.

Naruto part 1 is about the same length as the first 5 seasons of MHA, or about the same length as all of AoT. so you could either sink more times slogging through another 3 seasons of uninteresting MHA, or you could spend about the same time watching most of Naruto.

Edit: just to be clear, if you watch naruto then google naruto filler list. All the bonus content is so compartmentalized it's perfectly skippable if youre not interested. It doesn't affect rewatchability at all.

for me every season was either 7 or 8

naruto is for sure worth watching especially when u get to shippuden just skip fillers
i didnt enjoy bleach as much because of way worse pacing than naruto but it was fine (when u get to tybw its worth it)
and as for op i havent watched it yet, still cant get myself to start it thinking bout 1k episodes X D

you can watch it but its fast at the beginning slows down on the middle , then catches up from season 7 but if I'd recommend you could watch Ashita no Joe it's very good although underated i'd think it would be suitable if you wanna nothing forcable but do whatever you like but commit to it

Yes, it is a great anime that has a ton of great action. The whole series has a point to make about classism and society in general if you look into it deeper than just another show to watch. Even as solely entertainment it is well worth the time though. I would also suggest to include the movies at the relevant points as well because they expand on the character development and lore that is referenced later on. Yes there are better anime out there, but there are just as many, if not more, worse ones.

Ignore the following if you're satisfied with that explanation. Below is a just a rant of why people say My Hero Academia is not good.

People that hate on it generally don't like it because of the Fandom and want to fit in with their online buddies in hating something. There are bits where it gets a bit slower due to having to develop the story. But some points and ideas to progress the series can't be explained in an action scene. I also know a huge portion of people get distracted and start scrolling social media while watching anime because there aren't five girls with one or two looking like they are 10 years old trying to bone the main character.

I, personally, can't stand people who have nothing better to do than "ship" manga and anime characters or pick out their 4-5 "waifus" from a series. I am not a fan of people who claim that some "harem" or "ecchi" based anime are masterpieces while they shit on something that has a story and relevant metaphor to the real world. Hentai exists for a reason. Go do your thing and then come back with a clear head children.

Any person saying the animation is trash in this series has some other issue with it. At no point during the whole thing do characters just stand for an extended amount of time and have only their mouths move or a period where all other background characters and such don't move while the ones involved in the plot move around. People with the "slideshow issue" are referring to one episode where it is used for dramatic effect versus some text on a blank background telling how a certain hero fought in a dire situation (which is what was done in the manga). The only reason I know that is because after seeing people putting in complaints about it I looked at what their complaint was, rewatched the relevant episode and those around it, and read online why they thought it should have been different.

Generally speaking, those who don't like My Hero Academia are purist, elitist snobs who will also tell you that you didn't really watch an anime if you watched it in DUB and that you're not a fan of anime in general if you didn't also read the manga of everything you've ever watched. They are usually people who consider themselves "weebs", "otakus", or some other Japanese word. If you ever have the chance to read their reviews or points of view you'll most likely also find they sprinkle in a ton of Japanese words to make themselves sound more "in the know" than others who speak plain English. Lastly, the thesaurus is usually their best friend so they can sound more like the condescending douche nozzles that they are. That or they just say, "No it sucks." with no explanation because they don't have a genuinely good one.

I think it's probably the most consistent shounens in the last decade. Every single season is objectively good. Characters are super likeable. And the fillers actually feel natural (there's barely more than 1-2 every season). Even the movies are fantastic.

honestly most of the other options you listed to watch (although longer) are of higher quality than MHA.

MHA is only worth the watch for Endeavor. (hot take)

Overall, I’d say it’s a 6.5 - 7/10 series.

Quite inconsistent though: Some seasons and arcs are much worse than the others (Season 5; The Festival arc…)

Watch the first season and if you enjoy it, continue.

Like most Shonen it gets worse the longer it goes. Power Scaling is pretty ridicolous, in this one.

But the early seasons (1-3) were pretty enjoyable, imo

I think it's a lack of character growth and power stagnation that makes the story feel "slow" despite the fact the plot itself moves pretty fast. I know there's "Academia" in the name but the story would have greatly benefitted from ditching the school setting after season 1.

The kind of stuff you see Bakugo, Deku, and Lemillion do in the later seasons honestly should have been way more common from the very first season, because otherwise you end up with all the young core cast being completely overshadowed by All Might and Endeavor which hardly have any screentime. It's just not interesting 90 percent of the time when these fodder characters are on screen and they never develop into anything. It feels like watching a very drawn out prequel.

People complain about season 5 "and beyond."

Check their list and either, a. they haven't even watched all of season 5 and beyond or b. they watched it and rated it along with season 6 and 7 at 7-8/10 and are still saying it is trash for some reason.

Hating to hate. True to the stereotype.

And the entire "480p makes me sick" BS is just an annoying child who never watched shows or played games on anything but mom and dad's 55"+ LED TV. And by the way, DB and DBZ are both 480p and just cleaned up a bit; the same as Naruto and all the other pre-2010 anime.

Season 6 is absolutely incredible. I would have said no, this show isn't worth it. Then season 2 drops. Its so good it makes the first 3 decent seasons and the 4th and 5th mediocre seasons worth it. I watched 3 eps of season 7 as they aired and was really disappointed and bored, so I stopped watching until the season was fully out so I could just binge it. Haven't gotten around to it yet. Hopefully its good.
