Damn, they really trusted LLENN to pull this off in the season finale. She has so much courage for the tactic she pulled this episode.

Pito also tried with her weapon so credit should be given to her. It was an intense episode with LLENN fighting against time. Feels like she had to really think this one for herself and the team. Overall, I think it was an exciting season. A LOT of action and battle tactics since the first episode and to the end.

And so... great ending with two groups doing deep-dive gaming and not realizing they were going up against real people. And that custom weapon by Mai Kirishima is just sick - one shot one kill, possibly better than the tank gun that the Amazons have. Ofc, we didn't know that the two of them were there until the very end.

Great ED by ReoNa to end it.

And I do so hope that they continue to adapt this, as I want to see a season 3.

so I've been wondering how they have so much in game money if they barely play the game and this episodes confirmed that GGO is P2W.

That was the most underwhelming SAO season ever. Fights were boring, story just a mishmash of ideas. No anticipation, no payoff. What a let down. I think they should just stick to the original or create another spinoff for ALO. That might be more exciting.

Only in a game would suicide be a viable strat. Using TS as the cover/vanguard was a nice move. If not for that rocket barrage would had worked as well. Trust Pitohui to bring in a bazooka lol. Nice entrance for Shirley though. Llenn's CQB display was damm amazing. The truth about the NPC's though was a rather curious thing. Still its undeniable that VR games would also be useful as both a training aid for military and police as well as one that can change someone's fear as well. Overall though an excellent end to the season that was filled with action and revelations. Pretty nice ending as well from Reona.

Can't decide whether the twist* was dumb or just fucked up.
(Not to talk about how it was mildly disturbing even before that)

*) Not referring to them being players, too. I mean the weird reason behind it.

This was a pretty good final episode to wrap up season 2 of GGO. Seeing LLENN going all out against Jacob was rather exciting. At least she now knows why she plays this game because to her, it's really fun.

It also confirmed that the whole group were battling actual real people and not high-level NPC's. Knowing more about the backstory of Jacob and the others was pretty interesting and that the plan of injecting the fear of death into him seemed to have worked.

The Special ED from ReoNa was very nice, as was the animation style that was used while her song played. Overall, this series continues to be pretty enjoyable in what it does. The story isn't anything to write home about, but the character interactions and combat scenes do more than enough to keep me entertained. =)

Finally we see a player experiencing mental trauma from the game, but it was someone distanced from the main characters. I can only imagine the mental problems that would arise from a game where your legs are cut off so you have to crawl, where your arms can be blown off, and where you can smash someone's head in with your own skull. In reality they'd make it far less realistic, with no visible damage when you're hit, only reduced HP.

Great final episode! I ended up beeing glad I picked this up after all, it was fun and nostalgic.
The animation in this last ep was quite good, especially some scenes.
A bit disappointed the NPCs just ended up beeing humans, but using games to give war vets trauma is such a crazy idea I wont complain.
Wasnt it the original GGO, SAO S2 which even had a military unit use it for training?

I really enjoyed this last ED as well!

Didnt expect to say this, but I kind of want to watch Season 1 again now. I still cant believe its been 6 years since then.
Im also filled with a weird sense of nostalgia, as I dont remember anything from S1 and neither did I consider it old. But this still felt nostalgic.
See you in 6 years for season 3 I guess.

PS: The game is even pay2win, wow. No new top players emerged for SJ3, the teams dont even want to hang out after an exclusive special event.. the community is pretty shit isnt it?!

I predicted that the NPCs were just human but I wasn't expecting that explanation. Using GGO as a way to treat soldiers who don't fear death at all kinda makes sense since it uses full dive gear.

I hope another season is made since I will never in my life, watch SAO.

A great season for me, an aging Airsoft player. I never tire of seeing the Amazon team irl, they’re sooooo kawaii!
Can anyone explain why Reona is the singing voice of Eliza Kanzaki/ Pitohui when her speaking voice, Yoko Hikasa, is such a brilliant singer anyway? She’s Mio Akiyama from HTT!

Still was better than anything the mainline SAO franchise puts out, but it's not rally that high a bar tbf. Season one of this was slightly better, it actually had an interesting goal to reach by the end of the season, this just was grasping for the straws for something to drag it out for twelve episodes.

Same score as the first season, 6/10.

Ok, so they were using real mercenaries as a baseline for the characters in the castles? As some kind of therapy? I'm a tad bit confused, which is pretty rare actually.

Great action all around in this season. Id say it needed a lil more of the irl side of things. On top of, this stuff i wasnt expecting soldiers who i guess have no fear of death being sent to therapy by full diving and having the taste of death.
I was expecting more of like, copying dead soldiers as the ai or something. It was a bit weird with how shoved in it felt.

I was hoping they wouldn't do the they were actually players and were really just some highly advanced humane ai but nope. Anyway that's a wrap. LLENN strikes again and even put fear in veteran soldier. It's fun. Was hilarious when everyone just left after Pitohui invited them for an afterparty. Nice ED cards.

The starting few episodes were okay but things got real good with the LLENN vs Pitohui and the plot twist. Quite enjoyed the later half though I remember liking the first season even more. Now just hope it won't take em another six years to make s3.

Another anime over too soon, I wish they did 24 episodes.

I love this anime and hoping for a 3rd season.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

@Sheol01
Not as baseline: They where there in-game with their own appearances as models and without knowing it was a game (Well, at least we're sure about one of them) as a type of "shock-therapy", since they no longer could live normally in society and kept thirsting for battle.

So they were using GGO as a therapy for those who can't leave the battlefield irl huh. Both parties not knowing that they were up against real humans.

That whole thing felt more like as a side story rather than a big part of the main story, I guess the best thing we got from it is the confirmation that Karen/LLENN is having fun playing the game.

Great song from Kanzaki Elsa/Reona to end the season.
Hope to see GGO Alt come back for more! –a goodbye for now.

I had no expectations from this anime, I even questioned why it was made. However, if we put aside the absurdities of the first war, the background of this castle conquest was really well prepared, I liked it. I'm not going to lie, I was surprised that they could do it so well.

Last ep game intensifies

Soo at the end uh
Its an ep 12
I do find a bit overused the whole melee trope
Aside from that
The issues with ep 1-8 where len actually didnt do much aside ep 9-12 were ok i guess
Though only about ok ish who knows if they had allocated 7-5

So it turns out these NPCs weren't NPCs but real life soldiers who had to experience death because they obviously couldn't in real life, pretty nice twist to end this 2nd season, I would say it was probably as solid as the first one? Even though it's already been a while since I've seen S1 when it aired but I think I enjoyed this one like back then :) Would appreciate seeing a 3rd season eventually.

Yooooo that plot twist at the end there was so cool!! I mean it was already foreshadowed that something was up with those "NPCs" the moment they started talking, but honestly I didn't see the whole shock therapy angle coming! Good news for Fuka tho, her potential boyfriend actually exists 😂😂 I really hope both sides get to meet each other one day irl, but I guess that's unlikely since the "NPC" team is overseas. Funny how they thought that LLENN and the others were the NPCs tho 😂 Either way, I feel slightly bad for Jacob, my man got PTSD from fighting that little pink devil lol 😅 All in all it was a really great finale to the second season!! Really hope we get a season 3 one day, I could watch this anime continue forever!

Bit of mood whiplash there at the end. But at least it wasn't something fucked up like punishing criminals.

Awesome end to the very great anime. TBH, this show would be even better if it wasn't linked to SAO in the title. I didn't expect that these NPCs in the castle were real soldiers. LLENN-chan is now their literal little Angel of Death.
