Damn, I feel bad for Ivy. So young yet also misunderstood, to the point of other villagers trying to capture her because supposingly, she is an "evil child".

This show is still lighthearted and we get to see what Ivy's adventure is like. She also meets slimes too that seems to have personalities. A cute start and I do hope Ivy makes even more friends in her adventures.

An Isekai reincarnation story...will always be an Isekai reincarnation story, and novelist Honobonoru500's story is just that. Plus, this is Studio Massket's first full anime production, with the studio having worked in-between animation for countless shows.

Aina Suzuki's OP and Tei's ED...is really good, especially the ED which is very cinema-animatic, aside from sounding calm and smooth.

Femicia may look like a ridden poor girl who looks for scraps as a way of her only survival, but this is literally her life living in the woods, trying every way to make life count...for someone who's seemingly been abandoned being a Starless girl., with people trying to find her, dead or alive. Hanging around monsters and wanting to live a new life, she dons herself as Ivy, making friends with the weakest disintegrating slime so weak that a gust of wind will easily blow it away. Ivy telling it her reincarnated story of the people decided on skills and (most importantly) stars, which she is dealt the harsh treatment once it was found out that she's starless, that everyone warranted her killing.

The adventures of the weakest tamer Ivy and slime Sora, start here, a new life awaits them.

This show really has potential to be good from this premiere episode, which is all a set-up and doesn't present the Isekai reincarnation tropes like the usual show-and-tell background synopsis. This I feel, is a breath of fresh air all from Ivy's POV, which I have to give props to her VA Aina Suzuki for nailing her childlike character.

Nice start. I really liked the animation and background music.

Ivy and Sora are so adorable. <3 Sora gives me strong Sui vibes from Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi.

It's so cruel how everyone is treating Ivy so badly. But I'm glad Sora didn't disappear after all. Now she has at least one friend. :)

A decent start and a decent story set up, nothing striking other than the beautiful visual as of now.

Seems to be not a typical generic Isekai, wonder what momentum its potential will bring.

If Sora can talk with a cute voice in the future, it would automatically make this a 10/10 series.

Episode 1 is wholesome but they should have started the show at Chapter 1 of the manga. It seems that they totally glossed over the brutality of the manga.

Welp a lot of people will find this boring and will drop it in Episode 1 just because they didn't start it with the brutality.

Hmm ... you see, i was quite looking forward to this one, a "unique" isekai anime are always welcomed, but to be honest ... the first episode was very slow, really nothing much. Yes the visuals are nice and all but thats it.

When you have all of the first episode just the main character talking to themselves, you really need to try make it more compelling, and not just bet on the pity points for the main girl ...

Hope it gets better later on.

HOLY ANIMATION! Wow, this was SO MUCH BETTER than I expected it to be. Ivy's predicament really is heartbreaking, and it's sad that she almost realized that she still wasn't use to be lonely. Can't wait to see more of Ivy and Sora. The ED song is so damn perfect as well. 10/10 so far

Beautifully animated but strangely narrated.
can't agree more, this show is beautiful, but the narration between Current-self MC and Past-self MC is strange for anime medium, it will take time to get used to it

Is it me but did they cut all ivy backstory and saved it for later ? From my opinion it should be the EP 1 because the emotional whiplash when ivy bonding with sora is more emotional. Also more time to adjust and know ivy weird interaction with her past life and her personality.

@Swagernator low-key disappointed because the other adaptations when reaching this point it felt natural because
1. Ivy backstory already explained
2. Better introduction to MC past life
3. More time to adjust MC personality and her interaction with past life
4. We got emotional connection with the MC , and when she made contract with sora it is very emotional

It felt like they cut all the introduction part and started at when she already running away and they info dump us because MC have no interaction with other at this point.

Watching the anime, they tried to sell us how to pity the MC meanwhile the manga we showed MC daily life in her family and pitying her because of it.

The starting episode was great. I read part of the manga but wasn't very impressed with the conversation with the "past life".
It's sad that even in the first episode it didn't even reach 7 points, I expect this drama to reach approximately 8 points until the last episode.

How lovely but at the same time, bittersweet.

We finally got some unique isekai without focusing too much on that genre, and focusing more on the character and her will to live. However, seeing her ripping her hair like that is heartbreaking but her resolve is firm and I support her disguise for a better future.

I was hyped to see this but I can't believe it was this lonesome of a series. This reminds me of Maji no Tabi. I might cry again. πŸ₯² 10/10β˜…
I'm hoping for more things like this from now on. Definitely hopeful that it can transcend the adventure genre instead of focusing on the usual tropes.

Finally, this kind of pacing is worthwhile.
I get to learn more from the MC's perspective.
It's rather endearing.
CrazyButNot4UJan 12, 2024 11:58 AM
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

@Xayahnatix1 dude not everyone likes brutality. In fact its a really amateur way to draw people in. Just show tons of awful things happening and grab all the sadistic weirdos who enjoy watching things like that....how about no? I'm so glad they DIDNT do that. I loved how this episode still got dark but was mostly cute. I love cute. Especially if this show isnt very brutal after this I want to get the brutality over with ASAP and end it

I don't mind that it took it's time, but must say the parts where she "communicated" to her past self seemed strange. But good production value and I like that it's something different than usual, I'm pleased.

The most unwanted and wanted girl, was given a starless skill by the gods when she was of age. Shunned from the village, being deemed a threat, she gets chased out. Guided by the voices of her previous life she ventures out into the world, picking up trash and avoiding her captures. She changes her identity, renaming herself Ivy "the name of a plant that thrives even when stepped on". She makes her way to the royal capital, on theway she meets a slime whom she later tames and calls Sora "sky".

I was never gonna watch this show originally but when I thought the premise was actually pretty good, surprisingly a solid show so far. I’m excited to see we’re it goes.

Ivy having her past self occasionally speak in her head is a very strange twist to the usual isekai trope but a welcome one.

It also has surprisingly good animation.

The way she narrated the story kind of reminds me of how Elaina narrated her story sometimes in wandering witch.

This was a bit too talky, but cute.

World building is tricky, especially when the MC is shunned and alone, so you can't have her interact organically with other people, but still, an exposition dump doesn't seem like the best choice.

It's also a little odd that we didn't hear the communication with her past self. While it's a valid narrative choice to have the viewpoint outside the MC's head so we can't hear her thoughts, it does make things more awkward sometimes. Especially if later she's hiding from something and the author wants to reveal some thought so she has to talk aloud...

Lycoris recoil type fans. But I don't think it's because they're sadistic weirdos, the same way we are not just sensitive violence-prudes. It might sound condescending but maybe they haven't matured yet to where they find the mere concept of little girls suffering too disgusting to overlook.

Very good, sad and serious beginning episode. Ivy is the cutest thing... and a second-class citizen. It makes me remember about them here, on planet Earth. She developed an immediate and obvious chemistry with Sora. Hope both ones to develop themselves to face the hardships the future reserves for them. Ivy broke the fourth wall.

@Swagernator Yea, this was more or less my thoughts as well. The animation, design and visuals were nice, but the actual set-up/story didn't really grab me. And there being quite a few isekai staples already, minus the MC talking to herself/past-self, the show didn't feel different than other shows of the genre.

I hope it picks up as well, so will give it another episode or 2 to see if it vibes better or not. (Especially reading some other comments about unmentioned back-story and other elements, making for a very different story/feel).
