Akira's expectations for the club members are still pretty high lol

A lot of emotions again as I had expected from this anime. The more I watch Akira, the more she shows her personality. Akira and Satowa playing koto together looks like a work of art.

The teacher's performance influenced their koto? That made the teacher to teach them seriously. Wow, that smile after the frustration can completely get the dark aura out?

The two making the nice koto. Nice suggestion by NamiDai's character. And he trusts the teacher.

Bad thing might come from that old lady.

The teacher seems to be serious about things now the problem is that poisonous woman who is influencing her and Houzuki's mother.
She wants to get involved and it doesn't predict much good for future episodes.

Lovely episode, full of heart. :)

Seeing Akira be influenced by the determination and passion of the club was very heartwarming. Fantastic direction with the way they showed the parallel between Akira and Adachi.
It was nice to see Akira and Satowa perform together.

The final scene with Akira and Suzuka was also fantastic.

This show never fails to make me smile.

The point is not the smile.

The point is she saw the reflection of herself from another non gifted person when paired with prodigies. The non gifted person , with the help of his friends and continual trial and error, ultimately overcome his shortcoming and achieve success.
This made her realize that her 2 years effort is actually not in vain, she was just too pigeon holed into that one failure back in that competition.

That 2 year effort is a testament of her own strength that she's able be on the same footing as the prodigy which is Hozuki (See when they play Tenki together it's so beautiful), and she can finally accept herself that she's not a failure, and she can finally move on.

If anything despite Akira's beliefs the team's skills have only increased since she started to tutor them. Though Sane's determination to not let down the team is admirable its also runs the risk of opening a dark path for him as well as Akira noted. Its good that both Chika and Houzuki noticed and intervened before it happened. Its interesting that Akira is able to see within Sane the determination that her brother once had in Koto. That was quite the reaction that it provoked among Akira though. Still despite their differences Houzuki and Akira's piece was just beautiful. In the end its nice that the teams determination manage to break through the wall that Akira had around her and make her realise just how beautiful koto can be when playing with friends that both enjoy it and strive to continually improve their skills at it. Overall a calm ep that managed to both expand upon Akira's inner thoughts in the form of her realization that koto can be fun when playing with like minded people as well allow her to finally let go of the grudge she had for Houzuki. Though im curious what the grandmother is aiming to do though.

I love the role Akria plays as a teacher and her own character growth thanks to the club members. The duet was just such a nice way to peak this episode.

Dunno about her grandmother though... So far she is quite the one dimensional grumpy old lady making others miserabel but there is probably more behind this facade... Probably relates to the death of Akria's parents, if I had to guess.

This was so beautiful, and wholesome that it hurts. Akira has been so long in the dark that she had pretty much gave up on ever getting out of it. But her performance moved, and inspired them. They learned to play with care because of her, and her teaching. She now realizes that those two years she dedicated to that piece weren't in vain. That they are now allowing her to be in the midst of this light. I love how Sane didn't give up, the pressure was big no doubt, but he kept trying until he was able to, and I love how witnessing it moved Akira to tears.

I also loved that moment when she played with Houzuki. Their sounds conveyed what words couldn't, and I think they are fine now. Sure, it bothered Kudou a bit because he realizes they still can't play with Houzuki like that, but it was mostly wholesome. Takinami-sensei's smile when Akira asked to remain as their instructor, Sane's smile when he managed to play that part right, the way they thanked Akira for this and that. It was all really beautiful. I'm just worried about her grandmother now. I hope she can't do much damage.

I find this comment rather rude for people who dedicated their full life into one thing.
You can say the same for many sport players who treat their sport career as life or death.

I feel like Hozuki and Akira need each other because they've both been through the same painful experiences and also Akira needs Hozuki to show her that the koto is not necessarily something you need to do alone with the way Chika showed Hozuki.

The power of friendship Koto, once again saving people from their inner demons... or at least, from their own ignorance.

Good episode actually. Really liked the "wholesome" way the club is trying (without even knowing it) to change Akira's somber attitude. Props to Takinami-sensei as well since he has done a lot to help the group improve though that advise of stop using the metronome was a bit questionable but well.

Now, it seems Akira is in the good path but I guess her arc is not over, at least not yet with her one-dimensional grandmother still plotting some plan like a Disney villain. Anyways, let's see whether grandma will stay this way or her character will receive the "awful character's redemption" treatment as well in the next episode.

I would counter that this has largely shown itself to be a self-destructive way to live, either to the actual extent of self-destruction or the extent that whenever (and it's not 'if', it's when) that one thing gets pulled from under people, they damn near have to learn how to function again.

The athletes and musicians that had other things they cared about throughout their careers are the ones that seemingly live the most fulfilling lives. I'll double down on my original statement, they could both use a good orgasm and a side-hobby. Akira could also benefit from a therapist.

Their duet was beautiful and so was the melody when Akira first came back to the club room. I like how the atmosphere of their club is changing even the people around them and Doujima certainly became a great teacher. The visuals of this series really bacame awesome in the second season and it's fantastic how she completely changed the character dynamics of the show.

Now the only thing that needs to happen is confront the grandma. Let's hope she fail to destroy what they have, I really wish for Akira's happiness too.

Simply put, Akira feels like she is still levels too high for any of the Koto Club members to achieve what she has concurrently (more of the fault on the manipulative grandmother). And Takinami-sensei showed her the door without her thinking that they don't have any potential to grow further...that is until the members took her advice and worked out their sweats. What a cunning but sensible teacher-advisor.

And it was certainly a difficult piece to begin with, but everyone is as essential as notes stringed together in a song. To see Akira have a moment of solitude and connection to her past young life was all it takes to warm her heart, albeit a stepping stone.

Most certainly, the sounds of Akira and Hozuki are the result of how much despair they faced, and coming together as one sound of forgiveness and acceptance.

To Akira, being good is never enough, but with Takinami-sensei's gouging, it's the same effect as how he was mesmerized before, and the same emotion touches her, to be given another chance for the Koto Club to reach Nationals.

But I'd swear that they must counter what Grandma Doujima has in her sinister plans.

But it's getting repetitive. New person arrives. They have it out for the club. They have something in their past that troubles them. The club "wins them over". Rinse. Repeat.
