| Japanese can be real assholes sometimes! Can't they just watch their own business?! I'm glad this didn't really ruin the romance though. Momoko's a cutie. |

| What a great present. Also, why is it wrong if a teacher is dating a student's father? Shouldn't they instead be happy that the poor kid finally has a mother figure? Some people (like that student's mother) are just rather bad people. I mean here it would be uncommon at higher grade levels, but my kindergarten teacher was the mother of twins that were also in the class . . . If anything it sucks more to be the child of a teacher whose class your in since they treat everyone else all nicely but are strict with you. |

| Fantastic episode. All these happy times are making me nervous, I just know they can't last. Finally an OP and ED. Both are good, I especially like the animation in the ED. |

| Oh please, this whole bias thing is just idiotic. Just because she hangs out with the kid after school and is dating his father doesn't mean she won't care as much for the other kids compared to Goro. As you can see by how happy the mother's child was when she saw Hoshino and Goro, she's certainly not being neglected by her teacher or feeling jealous of Goro. The mother was indeed a bitch for complaining about it to the principal since her child was perfectly fine and had no complaints about Hoshino. This is not really about her daughter but more about how she herself seems to have felt some form of jealousy because Hoshino was giving "extra" attention to someone else' kid after school. Had her kid actually made complaints about Goro getting some sort of special treatment in school compared to the other kids or had the anime shown us something like that happening THEN the mother's actions would've been reasonable. Hell she could've at least had the decency to talk with her personally rather than going straight to the principal without finding out more about the situation. To me she just seemed like one of those generic gossiping mothers that complain about every little thing and love to meddle in other people's lives. Granted, this whole situation just looks like an excuse by the story to keep Hoshino and Honda from getting together. There's a scene in the OP where it looks like Hoshino is having a dinner date with Honda's friend, Shigeno, so I'm really not liking where this is going >_> |

| The comments in this thread are pretty funny, but the mother and principal aren't at fault here. Sure the mother was a bitch to complain, but the teacher is at wrong here. If this was real life, even Goro's dad would complain about her getting close to his child. How would you act if you came home and saw your kid's teacher there? It's purely a coincidence that the teacher and Goro's dad are good people and it sparked between them. In a different circumstance, she'd lose her job in the first episode. |

| This was the first episode to have the pacing feel a bit too fast, but the developments were pretty decent otherwise. I like the idea of Momoko getting together with Honda. Also, Honda's frankness with Gorou concerning the American Major League was pretty refreshing. The mother who spoke to the principal seemed like a meddler to me. Ugh. Unfortunately it's not difficult to imagine something like that happening irl. |
| That mother should keep her own business,that was really annoying,but luckily everything turned out well in the end. Loving the father son relationship in this show and Hoshino is surely going to be a great mother for Gorou. |

| Man this anime is really wholesome, every episode got the feels but I get the feeling it's gonna be a bumpy ride soon. Also finally get to see the OP & ED because it was uncut. I'm digging the OP but not sold on the ED, maybe it will grow on me. |

| Nice relationship building for Goro and Honda and Hosino and Honda as well. I was surprised that Hoshino took such a reasonable response to her being forbidden from seeing Honda. Normally a story could go for cheesy dramatics of forbidden secret love. But no, Hoshino decided to compromise, follow her works instructions and follow her love by waiting until Goro graduates. It was sweet. I do have to question whether it's good to have feelings for someone because they remind you of your dead wife though. Hoshino is a wonderful person who genuinely cares about Goro, tries to make him happy, and goes the extra mile for it. She also respects Honda a lot and has a little crush on him. She's not a bad wife but for Honda to literally think "I thought she was just like Chiaki", seems to lead to some issues. To marry someone for being like someone else could easily end in being let down when finding their differences. I guess at a core it's not liking them for themselves but what they remind you of. It's not inherently bad, he certainly values her for her character traits, but I'm wondering why the anime is going out of the way to make her look like his late wife and make her say even the same wishes for Goro. It's a little perplexing. I do understand feelings are complex however and fully understand Honda's response to this. That aside it was nice to see both have their friends push them to get closer to each other and to see both respect and care for each other. Hoshino was strong at the end of the episode and I liked how understanding Honda was that their relationship may not work out. Plus Honda was so cute when he was blushing over all this. For the Honda and Goro relationship building, I must again wonder if pretending he forgot Goro's birthday was jumping the gun a little, it certainly made him very sad. But in the end he took him to the zoo, scared lions with him, and even took him to the most special place he could for his birthday. It was sweet and I liked how Honda said he doesn't care if Goro plays baseball in the future, just that he wants him to learn certain lessons from it. All of it was nice. AND ENTER JOE GIBSON! He is American and in the opening! I wonder if Honda will lose next episode to set up the rivalry and make it so sweet when he wins. P.S. I loved how much of a baby Goro was when he sprinted to his dad yelling I peed on my pants and when he opened the door in his underwear like "hi dad!!" |

| Goro batting with 60 mph/s balls sounds dangerous considering his young age but oh well. Cute seeing Honda and Hoshino getting closer although the kids favoritism at work seems to be an obstacle I feel like Honda seeing his late wife in Hoshino could also pose for a problem in the sense that she acts as replacement instead of him seeing her for her true self. |

| Pretty stupid the forced situation that tries to ruin the romance. Even the romance looks forced, the guy literally likes her due she looks and acts like his dead wife. I agree with Avenger-senpai, the situation makes no sense without clear indications inside the school. She and the principal have no business with what she does after and before the school. It's just bad writing at this point. Also, we need more baseball scenes and less cringe romance including overreacting principals and jealous mothers. |
