Finale!

Shit got real there in the beginning:

Yuuya kicking as usual in this episode and I enjoyed watching that. Also, those tears from Cryska ;.; Overall, a fine series imo but tries too hard occasionally. Still, I enjoyed some aspects of it. 7/10. Meh ending.

Now, I'm wondering what's going to happen to the RLF leader. He's still alive.

So that guy tried to controll the twin?? Though they are out of control, though, and their boss is happy about the result. He asked OnoD's character to help out with "regaining their conscious". He tries to try it out. Younger twin is the first one who regained conscious, then older one. Somewhat peaceful ending. "Hime" girl finally admitting her love and considers older twin as love rival.

ED 1 (or ED2 in MAL) as the ED for this ep. Cute @ the end credit.

Wonderful ending episode and such, emotional, intense mecha v mecha fights, and some good ole kick beta action. Moment made me laugh when Sandek was like she left before she could be assassinated, I cant. (Takamura transferred back to JPN).

Overall Muv Luv Alternative Total Eclipse was a fun series. First two episodes could easily be forgotten as they were not that good at all, but from then on in present day stuff was usually compelling, fun, and provocative. I kind of wish there was a season two as one of the faults of the series is never answering fundamental questions as to who, what, why, how, about the BETA. And ultimately at the end of the series we are still left in the dark For example, is humanity successful against the beta or do they fall against the beta? And how is this done. I would have liked to at least know these (or they could have flashed forward and had a narrator tell us, you know?). Otherwise I guess it served to fill our Mecha anime gap for the Summer and Fall as there wasn't nothing else around, once acquainted with the animation style the fights and fast paced action was pleasing, and mech v mech fights still the best. I wouldnt mind having the 94 Second (Type II Shiranui?).

Go to the Top was the best op song for this anime and the first ending theme, dont know why we changed to a second OP/ED. Character designs were pleasing for Yuuya especially, and Leon. 8 / 10.

''Rivals in love'' has to be one the best ending lines for any series ever.
I'm eager to see how the visual novel unfolds, and some good soul translates it or summarizes it for us. To be honest, I kinda see what is going to happen, since the RLF leader was targeting Japan, and Yui is headed there, so he will probably try to seduce her or something and Yuya will save the day! I hope :(

Anyway, this anime was super entertaining with the right amounts of gore, action, ecchi, romance and mechas, 8/10!!

"Rivals in love" ... really?
Oh well it was an OK anime overall. The plot kinda went everywhere, and the huge cliff hanger ending didn't help much seeing how the chances for a second season are low. I gave it a 6/10 mostly cause of the enjoyment factor.

Pretty decent anime. Surprised how many people either dropped or never seen it. It was beast during the beginning, with the Scarlet Twins going berserk with the Berkut. I thought Sandek died, but surprisingly no. When I saw the Terminator destroying the guy within the berkut, I thought that was awesome. If only it was more gory, it would have been perfect. I thought Tarisa died, but thank God she didn't. The fight between the Scarlet Twins and Yui then transitioning to Yuuya was great. Loved how Yuuya went through major development changes during the series. When I saw all that blood, I thought Yuuya died. I wonder what caused all that blood splattering... Well, it ends with Cryska revealing her feelings for Yuuya. Great to see Inia smiling before it all ended. I really want a 2nd series. It's honestly a great anime. Characters going through major character developments during each episode, it was great. An easy 8/10 imo.

This anime started of wrong attracting a audience it wasn't meant for despite that the first half of this anime was pretty decent.
During the second half however it started getting worse and worse and near the ending it even became contradicting and the ending itself wasn't good.
The contradicting ending was probably a attempt to save this anime however it didn't make sense and created a lot of unanswered questions.
I have to say though that it was nice to see some action again towards the end.
I heard that at around episode ten the directer for this anime changed and judging the second part of this anime this was clearly visible mainly in the story.
Not sure why the directer changed but i have to say that the first one did a better job then the second one.

The characters where pretty pretty interesting in some ways and we even saw some personality changes over the course of the anime.
The most noticeably being Yuuya who was simply a jerk the first few episodes we got him for the most part his behaviour was very immature and he really grew up over the course of the anime.
He even became a likeable character at some point.
Yui had a hard time dealing with Yuuya at first but latter on she had a different approach and she did some growing up as well.

It ended rather undramatically, didn't it? I cannot help but thinking that the producers would like to make a second season since they left a lot of stuff open for a continuation.

Yuuya is such an army guy. He should have just run up to Yui and snogged her like there was no tomorrow (of course maybe Cryska would have a breakdown).

Average anime, had its flaws especially during the middle (as a mecha fan, I hated how it turned out to be just another harem and only little real TSF action till the end). Its good for the average anime fan that watches 5-10 Harems a seasion (lol), but I didnt like it.

...lets just move onto the next Visual Novel, mkay age? A visual novel were everyone dies, were we get proper explanations, and plenty TSF action.

Rivals in love huh? Thats the first situation like that were I have no clue who to root for. I like them both. Well the anime was good overall. It had its ups and downs but it kept me entertained. The way it ended makes it seem like we should get more in the future but im not too sure about that. I wouldn't mind some epic OVA's but a second season might be pushing it.

It was amazing in the beginning kinda wish the remained like that for a while before wasting some episodes on fillers and love triangle.
I liked the ending different from the typical romance endings in other anime that gets old. Guess they didn't wanna upset the fans so they went with a neutral ending.
Also this anime always made me want to play armored core this show did mechs right if you ask me also with the military strategy that resembled aerial combat tactics. Not to mention the fact they named a lot of the mechs after real aircraft's was a plus for me

Pretty good end. I smiled when the first ending song played and also during the last line with Cryska and Yui. They finally confessed it.

I felt this show had a strong start. Yui's backstory was a shocker with all the gore, and then all that (including the Beta) seemed to take a backseat during the middle. The more recent eps brought this back with tension and it was good viewing.

Over the course of 24 eps, I really got to know the characters and I think its one of the show's strong points. I haven't watched many mecha so I was more interested in the interactions people had with each other, specifically Yuuya. The harem scenes were a surprising and enjoyable detour from the battles and politics. Sometimes the latter made the plot seem too complex at times but it manages to clearly indicate who stands where. A few plot points still remain unsolved for me but I'm quite satisfied with the ending as it is.

I liked this series, but the last episode felt a bit rushed and lazy (the US bombers conveniently coming to save the day). I was also disappointed by how little of a role the BETA played as a whole. Overall I enjoyed this series, but felt they could have spent less time with all of the harem and more with the BETA.

By the way, was I the only one who was frustrated to no end with the people in this anime? Seriously, mankind is in danger of being wiped out and they're still waging war on each other over stupid things like politics and nationality.

so nutty Allegiance try to control the twins but got pancake'd by them so cause twins are final boss battle & yuuya to the rescue give all the I Know You're in There Somewhere speech fight to twins.

to point like almost "whacked" yuuya the twins wake up all ok with battle over yet seem "evil red master" moving to next plan.

now all that done everyone moves cause adventures continues now yui & cryska now battle for yuuya love (hey at least all his female harem aka yui, twins, chinese, swedish milk, ex-american girl, etc all safe now harem complete?)

This anime was a 6/10 overall for me. It was entertaining, but it was nowhere near the quality of the VN.

I guess I would like to see a second season, but I really hope they make it a little more enjoyable. I can't pinpoint what went wrong with this anime, but it just wasn't as good as I expected it to be.

I don't think there will be a season 2 but the Total Eclipse Visual Novel is probably what is going to make up for the continuation of the series.

Other than that, I thought the last episode was meh.

I would give this like a 7.5/10. The creators could have done a little better to make this a 8/10 or 9/10 from me.

Strongly agree with this. I had high expectations for it at first and was really drawn in, but I feel like at the end it kind of fizzled out. I really enjoyed the last episode's fight scenes, and Yui going into battle, but some episodes like the hot springs one felt out of place.

Might give the VN a try if it ever receives a proper translation, but overall 6/10 for me as well.

So ends one of the more enjoyable series of the year for me. I'm not a big fan of robot shows. A quick scan of my List indicates only a handful of them: Eureka 7, Kannaduki no Miko, Infinite Stratos, Eva, Rinne no Lagrange; so it isn't a genre I line up to watch.

But, this show has been entertaining if a little haphazard. It seemed to go through maybe three phases, beginning with the historical introduction to the horrors of the Beta, the current battle against the Beta, and the more important maneuvering amongst the allies.

Good stuff: OP1 is great and works very well for this type of show. It's moody, it pulses, it throbs, it cranks up the heartrate for the show, which was often pretty good at maintaining tension. Of course, some of the digressions, such as the marketing trip to the Caribbean didn't fit too well with the general tenor of the show or take advantage of the OP's charms. But I'm often playing the song in my head, long after the show is over.

Some great character designs, augmented of course, by the compression suits, or whatever the heck they are. Some interesting minor characters, like Sandek, who is well suited for his role in such a political hotbed, or Dahl. Some good performances that worked for the roles that the show's creators seemed to want. Bremer wasn't part of the harem so she played a different role, and supplied a lot of the situational exposition that the messed up situations continually required. This felt a little strange to me after becoming infatuated with the seiyuu's Irisviel earlier in the year. But Takemura was definitely part of the harem and played the role well. I hope her seiyuu gets some nominations for best seiyuu of the year as in addition to this role, she voiced Watashi in Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita, that wonderful, messy show from the summer. Cryska was also good as the cool and moody half of the space cadet duo. I liked Inia but too often her part was just to call out 'Yuuya' at irregular intervals. And cheers to Cryska's sickle and hammer bikini and what was the best swimsuit of the year, and maybe the best outfit of any sort, Takemura's UN blue and white one piece.

Bridges was good as the clueless, angry, decent male lead although sometimes his obliviousness around Takemura was facepalm-worthy. Manandal and Yi Fei both irritated me early on but I guess warmed to them as they became less abrasive. The show's humour was also pretty good, the hot springs episode stands out for me with the guys' response to Inia wanting to be with Bridges, and Yi Fei's as well. And given that everyone seemed to be a lieutenant, it was fun that two of them had names that rhymed. I laughed when I saw that Yi Fei's name was 'Cui' and wondered if they were going to call her Cui Chui, and of course, Takemura did.

The show was regularly able to build up some serious tension. Basically every minute of the first two episodes, or during Bridges' interrogation, it cranked it up. And often, it would deliver a great pay-off, as it did spectacularly when Bridges fired the big gun.

Weak stuff: Second OP was a huge fall-off. While not inherently bad, it didn't fit into this show for me. While watching the last few episodes, I played OP1 while OP2 was muted. The show was perhaps too ruthless in how it dismissed events that it had spent a fair amount of effort developing. On a grand scale, while you can sort of say that the first two episodes were just setting the table, or a flashback, or something of that sort, eventually the Beta became second-class invaders from space and were pretty much forgotten until other events allowed them to inconveniently get in the way.

The giant robots looked too similar. Other than the type zero, it always took me too much time to identify which TSF was which. Sometimes, the exchange was over before I was able to. Typical for most robot shows, the battle logic was a bit silly. I got bored after a while at how often they used timely fuel or ammunition shortages to make decisions and drive the plot. Sometimes you gotta look the other way. Sometimes, the characters were too stupid for words. As with characters descending basement stairs in the dark in horror movies, it wore me out when Bridges and Takemura sat about chatting casually while the Beta were on the warpath a few hundred yards away and they needed to do something with their high-tech hardware. The Beta were more robotic than the robots. The continual use of the same footage and sound effects (felt the same) caused me to downgrade the importance of the Beta in the world they were in.

But overall, I enjoyed this a lot, and looked forward to it each week. Hopefully another good show will take its place on Sundays.
