| Idk if curses really are believable in this show. The fire burning down is definitely real though. Takao had her hands full again with this case. This anime in recent episodes felt more like a thriller mystery. |

| Spontaneous human combustion mystery? Close enough, welcome back Fire Force. Bro the way I was so ready to start complaining about how predictable and easy to figure out this case was when Yuuta got arrested lol. Like no way they’re really making it the most obvious person in the world, but what a twist at the end! RIP Murota, I was really hoping he’d pull through after Ikari and Aoi didn’t, but it’s confirmation our culprit is still out there.. or could it really be the curse? Struggling to think of something that could cause flames to burst out of Murota like that.. but next episode’s finale should be great. That’s probably not even the saddest death of the episode tho. RIP Kotori’s RX-8 man I know he mad as hell 😭 hopefully he had insurance. Mai being Takao and Kotori biggest shipper is so cute lol. I love her. |

| The episode was another good one but there was one things wrong. The bad guy was driving a Honda Rebel 500 however the bike sounded like a v-twin when running stationary and driving away where when it was revving is sounded like a inline 4 engine. The Rebel 500 is a parallel twin so in doesn't make the sound of either of these engines, you can me the 1100 sound a bit like a v-twin with the right exhaust tho. The Kawasaki was a z900 which is a inline 4 tho, that's the bike Mai was driving. I think it's supposed to be a z900 tho it's not as accurately drawn as the Honda Rebel and the exhaust is on the wrong side i think they didn't have the rights to draw the kawasaki. 2 of the victims here where victim is self combustion a extremely rare condition heard some things about it but my guess is that Takao will find something next episode to prove it was murder. |

| The Kounoike in me likes to believe that after realizing "only Takao calls me 'Kotori'", Kotori at least partially thought something along the lines of "only Takao gets to call me 'Kotori'" as extra motivation to catch the guy. Though, Kounoike and Kotori aren't half bad together either. Having someone combust as close to you as doctors around a patient on an operation table is genuinely terrifying to imagine. |

The episode was another good one but there was one things wrong.

@Aversa I don't think there's enough bike enthusiasts between anime watchers for audience to notice :D Now that's getting interesting. Crazy Ashiya descendant was another red herring? But both episodes there was great detail on the box of matches. This guy looked like combusting from inside tho. |

| I think Ashiya Yuuta is only the culprit behind Ikari and Kotori's cases. So, the combustion of Kuramoto Aoi and Murota should be something else. Could it be some kind of spore from those fungi? | Damm poor Murota. Quite the collection that the Murota family had. The self immolation of the body though was terrifying. And no doubt traumatic to the family as well. Damm guess Mai is more than just a pretty face. The prof going out like that though was damm scary. But that last scene was damm well animated and paired with the perfect OST. This curse though is proving to be pretty powerful. |

| How fortunate that the motorcyclist specifically hung around Kotori, constantly kept revving the engine, and showed off his noticeable chest-scratching gesture... Twice! Why would he even do that? To scare him? He didn't have to show himself like that, though, did he? Blowing up his car and sending a threatening letter would've been enough for anyone to get the message... Why did he straight-up rush him with a baseball bat later? If he just wanted to kill him, he could've just blown him up in his car... And why send the threatening letter in the first place, then? Also, why did Kotori not immediately point at the motorcyclist and told people to stop that man? Is it because he didn't recognize him at first, this highly-distinct motorcyclist who's been lurking around him? Is he stupid? And WHY did he set a trap for the guy without calling the cops? He even involved and endangered his co-worker who didn't have anything to do with this! He didn't even know she practiced aikido before asking her for help! Pointlessly dangerous move. I'm surprised Columbo didn't chew him out more. Also, that Ashiya guy being the culprit wasn't even "predictable," it was more like they didn't even try. It's unbelievable that we've only ever had ONE suspect in this "case." How did Kotori not even bring this guy up when the cops were questioning him? He threatened and attacked you when you were trying to enter Enzo's grave... This feels really dumb for what is supposedly a detective story... |

| With her surroundings undamaged, I can only guess Kuramoto ingested something flammable and heat cigarette ignited vapors from her mouth. The motorcyclist is definitely the Ashiya guy. Ikari's corpse ignited at his own funeral. Koinouke has a penchant for vehicles, too? Yeah, leaving a threatening note, he's either someone who knows Takanashi as Kotori or has heard him be referred to that. Not the RX-8!!!! Koinouke shows up on a motorcycle and it turns out she practices Aikido, there are two martial artists at this hospital. A molotov? No... Throwing the bottle to dislodge two neodymium magnets, which impact hard enough to make sparks fly, igniting the flammable liquid. That's clever, will Takao figure it out? Ashiya is arrested but only admits to Ikari's corpse ignition and destroys Takanashi's car, I think he just won't admit to Kuramoto's death because he thinks the method is too ingenious to reveal. The professor feels cold and that only makes paramedics warm him up with an electric blanket so he feels warmer and giving a patient oxygen is standard procedure, yet both of these things, heat and oxidizer , are two parts of a fire. The emergency room witnesses the so-called spontaneous human combustion in real time, has first hand observation allowed Takao to figure out the truth behind Enzo's curse? |

| I would prefer the cases to remain more medical than police, but it happened anyway. Still, I enjoyed it since they weren't as predictable as the previous ones. There were several deaths in this episode, and the saddest one was Takahashi's RX-8. However, he had his moment discovering the culprit with Mai's help (it seems that several doctors in this anime know martial arts). The mystery continues, and because she is the main character, Takao must solve it. But I hope they drop the unrealistic elements and go back to medical-related cases, which was the main reason I started watching this: it's supposed to be a medical anime, not a police drama. |

| Enzo was obviously out from the start so the murderer is either the remaining assistant or the professor's daughter... is what I want to say, but maybe the third part of this case will loop back to the first part, presenting a culprit-free explanation for the last two deaths? |
| Was obvious it was Ashiya Since I was trying to predict on just the preview from previous I guessed wrong in previous episode discussion, assuming they might not actually go route of spontaneous combustion because there isnt really a clear known cause to spontaneous combustion and it isnt even considered accepted. This makes thing pretty difficult. There is very few clues given too. So far only symptoms mentioned are chills Vomiting. Black stool, which could indicate internal bleeding. And some sort of skin thing i dont know what is supposed to represent. It is too large for petechia. Sheol01 said: Ok, they brought in a genuine mystery this week, well carried over from last week. Glad it's not just something that can be solved in one episode. I've read about some of these historical cases. They are truly perplexing. Even if an accident, no explanation for how a body basically gets reduced to ashes while everything around it suffers minimal to no damage. It takes a LOT OF HEAT to cremate a human body. | So, it's one of those criminal cases where who the culprit is was beyond obvious, because there was literally only one suspect. Still kinda sad Aoi died, because she was quite the waifu and I'd like to see her having more screentime. |

This case was probably the least interesting but it felt much more in line with a standard mystery progression and not having Takao instantly solve everything was nice. Incredible cliffhanger as well, next episode's going to be a good one for sure. |

| The fact that spontaneous human combustion (SHC) has happened several times throughout history IRL is wild, sometimes where only their lower legs remain while the rest of the body turned to ash, or the whole body turned to ash with the fire localized. I also learned about the "wick effect" where extremely flammable clothing acts like wick soaking up human fat as a fuel source to continue burning. Frightening stuff. I'm glad they got the bomber/arsonist/attempted murderer...it was obvious the culprit was going to be Ashiya Yuuta guy the moment he was at the funeral. It was him because he was the only one that had a bone to pick with them. Although I'm surprised it took Kotori that long to put two-and-two together at the parking lot. Maybe the shock of losing his car still hasn't sunk in yet. Speaking of which, maybe having that Kotori nickname has it's benefits as an alias...maybe he should just go by that from now on without correcting anyone anymore. Prof. Murota had BP: 78/46 and Pulse: 112...extremely low-blood pressure and high pulse and blood highly saturated on oxygen which would explain why the fireball was so huge coming from his lungs. RIP to the Mazda RX-8 lost to a car bomb...oh, and the other two professors+assistant professor. One common thing between the two people who spontaneously busted while still alive both smoked, so that may have been the ignition source. Ikari blowing up was definitely arson with that bomb timer though. But since Ashiya is denying the cause of that, it remains to be seen if that was him behind it along with all the other crimes. Today's take away: don't smoke. And maybe don't wear highly flammable clothing would be good too, although any non-organic fibers will just melt and stick to the body like napalm, so damned if you do, damned if you don't. |

I mean, is there really a mystery to be solved? the only thing that's unknown is what substance did murata ingest or was splattered with that made him flammable, and once we find that out we'll be like "oh, i see", and not even be as surprised as with the epilepsy in ep 3. It's already obvious that either his daughter or the other guy who was at the funeral, or even both, were involved in this. And Aoi was killed before she was either burned somewhere else or simply exposed to enough heat to charr but not enough to make fire, by using something that was conspicuously put in the shot multiple times, you know, like a radiator. Btw, the fact that they killed Aoi off so fast is actually the most upsetting part of this show, because she was cute and the whole thing is turning out to be so lukewarm (no pun intended). fuck. |
| Really liked how this episode was Kotori centric. He really got his time to shine and show he is more than Takao's backup. I had a feeling that Ashiya was the guy on the bike, but for some reason I thought he was patting his chest and not scratching it lol. It is not surprising that he said he had nothing to do with the combusting people and I believe that is the case, we even get to see it with Muneharu combusting at the end with Ashiya already in custody. Although he could have did something beforehand and it just triggered when it did. Can't wait to see what happens in next episode which judging by the title seems to wrap up this story. |

| Sorry but this was the worst episode of the series so far. A mystery that was so obvious is shouldn't even be called a mystery paired with characters being the stupidest they have been the entire series so far. Everyone from Kotori, who for some reason just refuses to identify the motorcyclist and doesn't notify the bunch of police right around him when he does figure it out, to the dumbass Ashira who could not wait a few seconds to detonate the bomb to kill Kotori, or intentionally tried to give himself away with the engine revving and chest scratching at every scene of crime, or who for some reason decided to attack Kotori with a bat when he's alone when we know he's capable of making firepower like different types of bombs on his own. Honestly, if it was not for the final few minutes, this episode would have nothing redeemable at all. Thankfully, it looks like the mystery is not fully solved and there is more to it that meets the eye. I hope the future episodes are not written like this and are more competent. |
| Holy shit that was a brutal end to the episode! When they focused the camera on the overhead light for a few frames, I knew it was going to ignite/trigger whatever is actually causing the "Spontaneous Human Combustion." It was the same for the ending of last episode when the camera focused the space heater for a few frames before the woman burst into flames at her desk. My guess is a direct heat source is causing something on their skin to ignite. I'm guessing the rash is a result of this substance, as well. We shall find out next episode. |

| It was a bit annoying how long it took them to realize who the killer was, but holy shit I am SO invested in this arc. This show is amazing when it comes to suspense. And I'm glad Kotori is getting so much screentime!!!! |
