Pretty much the setup episode with the demons, gate opened, world in danger etc It looks like they will do a lot of background storytelling this season because of Yuri and her family. she behaves and acts like someone of her age. A fairly important season imo in terms of exploring the past. Oh and that theme song is neat. |

Only a week later and we're back, and straight to the past we go, as I'd assume this entire season will take place in, with Shirou and Yuri at the forefront of it all. We get Yuri's sad backstory of well, not only was her and her entire family homeless, but not too long after, her entire family was killed in a fire, leaving her all alone... ... that is until she, ofc, meets Shirou and barges it his bunker and allows her to stay til morning... but that dream was farfetched because as soon as they wake up some guards from the school show up to take Shirou and take Yuri along with them. Did find the whole thing with how Yuki named her sons after demons kinda funny after her calling Shirou that demon. But yeah, decent start, this won't be happy, clearly. |

time for Flashback Arc! Wow, her complicated past with Shiro, huh… The first thing I noticed right away was that the animation improved a lot, especially in the fight scenes. |

Wow this is actually the strong first episode of the new season. Since it aired back-to-back I thought it'd be just more of the same, but this is a completely new direction, it's such a refreshing feeling. I kinda guess what will happened from now on even without reading the manga, the Satan will possess Shiro and use his body as a vessel to... well, impregnate Yuri. Either I'm right or wrong I'll be satisfied nonetheless. PS: It makes a perfect to broadcast Yuki-hen and Yosuga-hen in Fall-Winter season since it has so much snow. I don't know if it's just coincidence or not, but if it's planned, then here's a compliment from me to the planner, "good job". |

visiting past w. principal as guide. meeting both young father and mother in poor area. young mother is cared by old man and lady. she's playing w. satan? caretakers got involved in the fire and she's alone, then found young father's house. then got carried into the school afterwards. Miyu-Miyu's character is roommate. so father was an experimental body... nice OP and ED. |

Blue Exorcist Season 5 is here, and we only had to wait 2 weeks for it. Hopefully, this flashback stuff is not too long, as I don't really like flashbacks. Also, I hear that the manga is around the halfway point right now, and that this season will end close to the latest chapter of the manga. Meaning that if they plan to do a complete adaptation, then we'll be seeing another 5 seasons of Blue Exorcist, ending at Season 10. But at the same time, we'll be waiting a long time for Season 6. Probably 5 years. Also noticed that this is currently the highest rated/ranking Blue Exorcist season, which is cool. (The highest rated entry in general is still the Blue Exorcist Movie though). |

Those demon seeing kids are truly built different. This is there schedule (Just a rough guess to a degree): 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM Clean 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM Breakfast 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM Studies 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM Education and training 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM Supper 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM Training 11:00 PM Sleep That's 7 hours of sleep with only 2 meals as a growing adolescene, and they're probably doing it back-to-back. |

Didn't even realize we had started another Season. Also, didn't know he was also Shiro's Son, sometimes it's easy to get lost with this thing LOL. But this trip to to the sad past is really interesting, & here are the answers Yukio was looking for last Season/Cour. |

I still cannot understand why Yukio was not allowed to see the past too. I guess it wouldn’t make so much plot after with two brothers has to fight each other. |

We kick off the 5th season of Ao no Exorcist with the most important arc so far, The Blue Night. ▫Something tells me this arc is going to break our hearts; the freaking ending screams it loud and clear. :c |

Here we go, the story of how everything began between Yuri and Shiro Yuri, an innocent girl, was met with tragedy early on. She lost 3 ppl close to her. Sad that those three died and they’re just seen by the public as 3 homeless scumbags that just died from playing with fire. Whole time, it was more than likely Satan that was jealous because Yuri’s playtime with Satan was interrupted. Shiro starts off pretty cold, but he seems to have a reason for that, I guess for being a lab rat. Despite the crazy living conditions, nothing but school and training all day with no fun or breaks, Yuri is still happy to be at the Asylum. Rin was right, her personality really reminds me a Shiemi |

Here we are, as indicated by the tone of this first episode and the ending, at the infamous Memories of the Blue Night arc. Infamous, yes, but for profoundly poignant reasons, as it delves into the tragic and bitter past of our beloved Yuri Egin. Having observed this trend in the previous season, I will strive to avoid reiterating myself in my weekly reviews of this magnificent series. Nonetheless, and I am certainly not alone in this observation (as evidenced by the series' impressive ratings), Studio Voln has now demonstrated a significantly improved command of the adaptation. This is reflected in noticeable enhancements to the animation quality, narrative pacing, and overall direction. The fourth season already marked a substantial leap forward compared to the third. With this promising beginning, one can reasonably expect an even greater refinement this time around. As for the story, Yuri Egin—and I only just realized this thanks to Megumi Hayashibara's outstanding performance—is arguably one of the manga's most compelling characters. Despite the tragedies and hardships she endures, she manages to retain a radiant smile, becoming a true beacon of hope for those around her. Some, like Shiro, are in dire need of such light. I also thoroughly enjoyed the numerous subtle details scattered throughout the episode: the striking resemblance between Shiemi and Yuri, as well as the origins of the twins’ names. These elements enrich the narrative and deepen the audience's connection to the story. In summary, this introduction is magnificent. I now eagerly anticipate whether Voln can sustain this level of quality throughout the season. One final note for anime-only viewers: do not necessarily expect grand battles or intricate conspiracies akin to those in previous arcs. Nor should you expect frequent appearances from our usual group of friends. The heart of this arc lies in its tragic past. So I hope you’re emotionally prepared, as this season is sure to draw a few tears—I guarantee it. As for me, I await the next episodes with growing anticipation. |

Is this supposed to be connected with other Blue Exorcist series? The first episode was pretty good. I think Yuri is in a good place now, if she truly wants to be an Exorcist, then it’s great. The Asylum seems a bit off, but I hope nothing wrong happens. Of course there must be some uncommon kids. |

What a superb episode, I was immersed every single second of it, both the setting and the story itself. They even made brand new musical pieces (as far as I can tell), and the first one that played was a banger. I'm so grateful that the production is still getting proper treatment in its 5th season 🙏🏻 |

Also noticed that this is currently the highest rated/ranking Blue Exorcist season, which is cool. (The highest rated entry in general is still the Blue Exorcist Movie though).

@wildhood I doubt it will end close to the latest chapter. That would be a bit too much content to adapt, I think. But yeah, I think there's still much to come in the manga but after this season they might need a break to let the manga get further ahead. |

@AnimeBaki i feel like its had its ups and downs in story and animation. imo the shimane illuminati arc wasn't great, but then beyond the snow and blue night have been very good. And hasn't there been like a studio switch or smthn that messed with it a little |
