Man, the style of art this episode is a thing of beauty. I do mean it literally seeing how it's protrayed.

More so, the episode itself has the theme of manga in relation to the arc. Just a beautiful style of storytelling imo and more series should do stuff like this. The anime bought out the feeling I remember from the manga too. Well done and somehow they managed to make the character expressions humorous too.

Pretty good episode. There is still recap but only at the beginning of the episode. They're working together to draw manga to make contact with the 'Book of Prophecy' author. I prefer this Pan Panda addition over that unneccessary recap for padding.

They censored Fuuko gun scene too but it's not a big problem. Next episode, Anno Un, the one who narrated Undead Unluck, will rise.

Btw the lyrics for the start of the OP are "up up up up down down down down down" x 4, but it's written in kanji, so in Japanese it looks like:
上上上上下下下下下 上上上上下下下下下
上上上上下下下下下 上上上上下下下下下
lol
And while yeah, it's not as good as 01, I still really like it.

安野雲 (Anno Un) - lit "relax field cloud". It took me 2 and a half minutes to realize that this is a pun on "unknown" lmao.
7:16 This is a henohenomoheji (へのへのもへじ), a face known to be drawn by Japanese schoolchildren using seven hiragana characters grouped together to look like a face.

7:48 Osamu Tezuka! He was a Japanese manga artist, cartoonist and animator. He has such titles as "the Father of Manga" (マンガの父, Manga no Chichi), "the Godfather of Manga" (マンガの教父, Manga no Kyōfu) and "the God of Manga" (マンガの神様, Manga no Kami-sama). He is the author of Astro Boy and Dororo (1967. Yes, the anime from MAPPA was adapted from this).

9:22 Damn, Andy's voice is so sad here... He now realizes that he won't die no matter what, even if the world ends.

10:56 Omg even the "censorship cloth" was ripped XD

The drawing processes look so damn cool actually
15:37 Kanda-Jinbōchō (神田神保町), commonly known as Jinbōchō or Jimbōchō, is a district of Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan, known as Tokyo's center of used-book stores and publishing houses, and as a popular antique and curio shopping area.

Lmao the faces of the clothes UMA
Oh damn, they actually show "Shueisha". I totally thought they'd change the name.
It would've been really cool if Anno Un was the actual mangaka of Undead Unluck, but alas, his name is Tozuka Yoshifumi. But holup, he might be god...?

This episode was so damn interesting and fun. Loved it!
Damn, this turned out long...

@uiminami7 Oh damn, you're right.
So apparently in the manga Andy didn't threat the Shueisha editor, instead Fuuko just straight up took the cell phone and pointed a gun on her lmao. Such a badass. I guess they didn't want to show any connection between real guns and Shuheisha or something. You can google "Fuuko shueisha gun" and a reddit post with the manga panel should show up.

Shoujo manga to the rescue!

Juice pulled out a book. It was a familiar book to Fuuko, but the possibility arose that it was a story of the past and future of this world depicted by ancient artifacts. Andy and Fuuko were tasked with verifying the state of the original manuscript and gathering information about the original author. If it was depicted by ancient artifacts, the original manuscript should not have been affected by the addition of language unification rules. However, verification was not easy. Andy proposed taking the manga to a publishing company.

In an absolutely unexpected turn, Fuuko and Andy are about to one-up Time Paradox Ghostwriter. This episode is seriously the wildest one yet. Fuuko's fave quirky sci-fi shojo manga turning out to be a prophecy is already pretty weird, but her actually writing Undead Unluck, the anime you're watching, within the anime itself? That's next-level meta. It's probably even crazier when you read the manga. And the real Time Paradox Ghostwriter being Fuuko all along? Mind-blowing. This episode came out of left field, but somehow it fits perfectly.

You can only wish to travel to as many places as Fuuko and Andy do. Anyway, next stop: Canada!

Once in a while we get an episode that pay homage to something unrelated to its main story (for example, one Golden Kamuy episode pay homage to cinema), this time, Undead Unluck decide to pay homage to manga and its creating process by writing Undead+Unluck (+ is silence), such meta!

I totally didn't expect Andy to have such a deep knowledge on creating manga, but he learn from the master after all, that's a perk of having a long life. Wait, who's older between Andy and Victor? And how comes Andy is in the same body as Victor? Don't answer me, because this episode already tell that this will be answered in "Ando Past Arc' which I assume Ando = Andy.

By the way, is You and Me based on Kimi ni Todoke (From Me to You)?

Episode seemed better paced than the previous 6 ones, which is welcomed. The part of Fuko and the others making the manga was fun.
It seems the narration was the mangaka Anno Un all along, which is clever ngl.

Oh shit so its truly back to the beginning again, huh? The 101 vol shoujo manga series actually a books of prophecies. The author of those mangas also already revealed on the op, which i don't fully recognized it well until Juiz mentioned it in detail on these episode. Not to mention she's also the one that narrates this Undead Unluck from behind? Now what's the meaning of all of these? Especially that erased memories part in the end? Sick. Wicked sick, like Andy said.

Ah don't forget how they mentioned a lot of manga industry intermezzo there. Tezuka Productions. Shueisa as their hq ofc. And then the big one coming from that one-week manga-processing bs. Author really like to touch a bold remark there. Lmao that's must be hits hard, idk the source tho....

Well in any case, cliffhanger sure tough. Next week can't come fast, huh? Perhaps its time for me to read the source as well. Let's see...

Lots of interesting theories and insights, but one thing to consider… Anno un simply means ‘year one’ in Italian or even latin probably. I always try to use Japanese translations, but this time not necessary.

Pretty entertaining and unique episode. I liked all the unique and fun references in it. Also, this gotta one of the most unique and original ways to hype up future arcs I've seen in a long time lmao

Honestly, even though many may argue that the pacing of the anime is awful and that it only adapts less than 2 chapters per episode with all these recaps, the episodes still manage to have so much stuff happening in them despite all of that. And in only 19 episodes, we got so much plot information and progression that could have easily taken +50 if not hundreds of episodes per regular Shonen story progression standards.

Finally, there is one frame in the next episode preview that looks like it was drawn by Hironori Tanaka. If that is true, then we are in for a great action-packed episode

There's something cosmically hilarious about a manga publishing company employee seeing Japanese words as weird alien inscription. Never expected this show to go this direction but I can't say I didn't love it.

Never thought the manga from Episode 1 would not only return but also become a huge plot point. What a surprise.

Wait, Fuko wrote... Undead Unluck? As in, the story about herself from the day she met Andy? It's a bit lazy but given they have such a limited amount of time it's understandable.

Bruh. Fuko pulling a gun on the Shueisha employee was cold but also made much more sense. I didn't read the manga but just seeing Andy show up randomly felt off. Like how did he even get in? Did he jump inside a window or something? But I can understand them changing the scene lol.

All this time I thought the narrator was Juiz cos they sound so similar. But if the above comments are right then it's Anno Un. That's very cool actually.

This was probably the most thrilling episode yet and it had no action scenes. I wouldn't mind if more episodes were like this.

Yeah, I remember the universal language reward. Just found the idea of Japanese text being out of place at a manga building kinda funny even though it makes perfect sense in context.

Very good episode, although there was no action... it was entertaining to see how they put together their own manga and I love when they add references like Star Wars.

The story is also interesting, everything that happened or is about to happen... is in Fuko's favorite manga (I think) and it is curious that the author of the manga is called Anno ¨Un¨ on top of it when we see his room full of leaves. ..on the wall there is a drawing of someone who looks (maybe it's him) like an undead.

PS: Does the episode end with the removal of Fuko's memories inside Shueisha headquarters? wtf haha

It's always great when a manga author adds a plotline involving manga. It feels like they're drawing from experience! I don't know if its meta for fuukos story to be a literal autobiography to find a future searching book that was telling their story. But it also does make sense!

As a Canadian that lives 40 minutes or so away from Stanley Park this arc when I read it in the manga was such a vibe for me, and I'm even more excited to see it in the anime now too! You always see random Japanese locations in anime, like Shibuya and Akihabara, so seeing a location that I've actually been to before and am familiar with in real life will be very surreal.

I easily enjoyed this episode and the many references that it dropped. For me, the most noticeable was the shoujo manga looking almost exactly like Kimi ni Todoke, as well as the Star Wars opening credits to summarise what Union needs to do next.

The whole team helping Fuko making her manga did also remind me of Bakuman in a way, but this was on a different scale. Either way, the whole process was amusing, but also wholesome, especially between Fuko and Tatiana. Their friendship certainly is a strong one now. =)

Thankfully, Fuko got able to get some good success with her manuscript at the publishing HQ, where she, along with Andy, were able to land a meeting time with Anno Un. In typical fashion, they'll have to get from Japan to the meeting place in Canada in 5 hours, which shouldn't be a problem. Whether this meeting will go well with Anno, who knows. I do hope the next episode keeps up this entertaining form, since this episode did give me some good laughs.

Apparently Im not the only one who spotted Fuuko's huge ass taking up the majority of her body out the front of the building lol. I guess the perspective of her bending over made it just look really weird.

Amazing episode, loved it, nice focus on the manga creation aspects & the plot is really improving a lot. It is getting better. Interested for even more.
