I was a little surprised by the episode -- I wasn't expecting Toshi to get intimidated like that. And why does he need his own whole episode (practically)? I'm guessing they'd need at least one more episode about Toshi to show him settling in and redeeming himself, right? Hopefully later rather than sooner. I want more Goro! ;)

Speaking of... wasn't the way they showed Goro agreeing to be a closer a little... too childish? Even for him?

I wouldn't say the way he agreed was childish as much as stupid : I agree that it was a bit over the top though.
I also want more Goro! I'm mostly happy I got anything though what with the time it takes to sub these episodes ^^;.

Thanks De-Jay for my claim picture : ).

Poor Toshi gets no love in this thread. I'm here for you, my boy <3

It's his first game so I'm not that surprised he's getting so worked up, but the team, or more so just the rival catcher, is being too harsh. Although Toshi should ignore him and stay level headed like he normally is, there was still no need for most of those rude remarks.

He should shut up his mind and play baseball.

I wanna watch Goro! His baseball is much more intriguing and interesting. Glad that this is happening to Toshiya, serves him right for being a jerk to Goro for no reason in every season. It's good that someone showed him he's not all that special, just like what happened to Goro.

Boy Toshi the golden boy isn't having an easy time either. And Alice seems to know how to pull Goro's strings.

I'll never understand why you guys hate Toshi so much :/

I was glad to see him this episode, even if he's having a hard time.

Good episode! Interesting to see the other characters' current lives. Poor Toshi. I never knew that being a catcher was so difficult before I watched this show and Oofuri. :S But really, Toshi does overthink it! He should be more like Goro and just do things without thinking. But I'm glad that even the "perfect handsome baseball guy" has weaknesses.

I hate that old man catcher. He is somewhat bullying Toshi. I hope Toshi will eventually redeem himself. And btw, MORE Goro, pls!!!

Toshi definitely does not have the charisma to carry an episode all on his own. I honestly hope this sudden extra focus on him does not last too long.

He/she is a big Toshi-hater, nothing new...

I don't get the hate about the series showing some other characters. Of course you want to see how Goro developes, but it's nice that they're not showing only him. Imagine Hajime no Ippo and only showing Ippo's fights... That would be boring, as well.

Not really, too be honest never liked Toshii so don't really care too much about his struggles, although my problems with him stem more from the fact I just don't find his character interesting, not really like I hate him or anything. On the other hand, how could that other catcher consider himself a pro, he merely used years worth more of experience to try and crush a rookie because he himself felt threatened. If I had to say anything, I would say that the other catcher is pathetic and with such a catcher, once he retires, their team won't have anyone to replace him.

That was a bit too harsh, but I'm glad that the only one who is having a hard time is not only Gorou. :)

However, leaving the whole lead of the game to the hands of Toshi, and acting as if it was all the catcher's fault, isn't it nonsense? Then, they are a bunch of useless members who doesn't know how to play properly.

Woah, woah, that isn't the Toshi we saw during those first 3 seasons. Toshi was always so confident, there he felt so weak and unprepared. Or maybe, it was the opposite, he seemed overprepared. It looked like he had a strong plan, but no plan B. He was also extremely nervous. He would have never failed a run like that, at the end.

Wow, when they switched to Toshi I was like... "meh, the Goro's side is so great right now, don't go to this guy again, I have enough of thing.

But it felt so great to see Toshi get reckt so brilliant. Love the main catcher and his comment about Kaido's manual :).

Then again, I wouldn't mind to see Toshi getting reckt once again and once again and once again... and once again, but Goro's main story is so good right now. Please return to that!

Toshiya is still playing by the Kaido manual.. and he got so worked up about what that catcher said regarding the Kaido manual too, he has that much belief in it?

get owned toshi.

I guess this is to show highlights that goro isn't the only one struggling, though to be fair on toshi's side, that other catcher is kinda a dick.

Eh. Gorou's side of things was just getting good. I definitely don't hate Toshiya-- he was the reason I ended up liking season two as much as I did-- but most of my interest in Toshiya came from his relationship with Gorou, how they contrasted and played off of each other. On his own he's not nearly as interesting.

This is kinda killing the steam built up from Gorou finally finding a baseball home. Barring something unexpected happening that would make this feel more worthwhile, I don't really care what's going on with Toshiya enough to have multiple episodes spent on him. Let's get back to Gorou already, please.

i think this is the first time since S1 that the opening animation had changed, i really wondered what the birds in the start supposed to be.
when i saw that alice dressed like that in the ending and the preview i thought there's a good reason the owner to dress like that, turned out to be only fanservice.
though it's good to see toshi, i kinda didn't get over yet of his dumbness in the last season, and i actually find his lead to be annoying or as yatabe said that he follows too much kaiod manual in a pro team, i hope his little part on the story won't be long...

Feels weird seeing Toshi being such a worrywart instead of his usual calm self, well good to see he also needs to adjust like Goro to the real deal baseball. His fellow catcher Yatabe in my eyes was just way to harsh on him and perhaps even borderline bullying him.

I think what happened was what was supposed to happen.
Kaido's school recruited the strongest players and played with weaker teams, and therefore almost all games were easy for them (except for the game against Gorou).
Toshiya is not used to playing against stronger teams. He was just not ready to play against equal or stronger and more experienced players.
