God damn, I feel bad for the people that worked on that train. RIP.
This series isn't afraid to kill off them easily.

Plenty of action on that train. I'm glad they were able to capitalize on the conflict between the two sides and with a setting like that, it made it more impactful. Ryoko really shouldn't of came there imo. She almost died even.

However, I will say that she is a brave girl and her kendo skills came in handy this episode.

I like the episode. There is some many action scenes.

Still, I don't like that generic girl that falls in love with the MC.

Good episode, a lot of action

Mikhail is on a level that makes Yuliy look like a rookie

Ryoko is too reckless, but even so she manages to be helpful and not be a burden

It was an awesome episode! Seriously, people need to start watching this show.

I think Mikhail is still in control of himself (not fully vampire) as yet. He obviously still cares about Yuliy. Yuliy seems to be more resolved now about his next steps.

I'm just glad Ryoko actually did something and wasn't completely useless.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

This was a fun episode. I loved it when Yuliy was saved by his older brother.
It was nice that the girl managed to fight back, but - so far - I still don't like her. The rest of the characters are quite interesting. I can't wait to know more about them.

This show does deserve more attention than it's getting right now. There was a lot of action, but all of them were really nicely animated from P.A. Works. =)

Ryoko might be developing feelings for Yuliy, but at least she isn't a useless love interest. She got caught up in the action too, made an impressive leap between both train carriages and she also made a swift and bloody impressive sword kill on the vampire when everyone else was caught by surprise. Her training is starting to pay off.

The story is already shaping up to being something that'll keep me thrilled and excited. Can't wait to see more next week.! ^_^

It seems to me that Mikhail has ulterior motives why he is still following vampires, and has his own plans regarding the Arc. As the things usually tend to go, Mikhail will get the highest ranked vampire himself, and then Yuriy, through Mikhail's twisted aims, will be forced to fight and finish his brother off, who of course would gladly welcome death at hands of his beloved family.

By the way it is worth noting his actual name is YuRiy, a Russian Yura, even his mother calls him Yurechka. If the Russian variant was not apparent when the series began, after the episode exploring his past it was confirmed he is a Yuriy.

I actually rather enjoy this show. I thought it would be a bit too cliched, but it's actually action packed (and that covers a multitude of sins). It's simple, sort of atmospheric in the setting, and the characters are likeable. I don't understand some of the hate for Ryoko on this forum - she has a crush, but her character isn't really "love interest". Yuliy doesn't really think about her. If you pay attention, you can see she has a craving for a bit more than her rather protected life. That's why she's staying on the train car. Whether or not she realizes it yet, it's the adventure calling.

Anyways, well animated all around decent vampire hunter show thus far. Pity its only so many episodes as it could use some fleshing out of the side characters.

Yeah, the action wasn't half bad. It was nice to see that the girl didn't end up being the typical Damsel in Distress, but I still can't buy her randomly falling for the MC.

This. Ryoko might have a little bit of a crush on Yuliy which is exasperated by his mysterious personality, but it's the "dangerous work" that he (and the rest of them) are involved in that has her attention.

Dorothea: "On top of that, the worlds you live in are too different."
Ryoko: "Yes, that! That's what I'm interested in."

Plus, when you consider her leap between the trains and the way she took out that Vamp, she might have potential as a Jaeger herself...

This episode was quite significant in terms of setup:

1. Yuliy now knows Mikhail will stand in his way
2. The bushido people are now out of the picture
3. The main cast can now connect the dots on what the vampires have been doing--creating this vampire automata
4. Agent-reporter now knows he's been focusing on the wrong target and will probably align with the main cast
5. Oujo-sama will probably join the group

All these major developments happened in one episode without it feeling like a rush. And so far what's impressed me is how this series has told its story without creating unnecessary confusion or dragging its pace while keeping everything spontaneous. And the characterization so far have been very good--going from oujo-sama's silly persistence to Mikhail's cold-blooded warmth toward Yuliy even as a vampire, and to Yuliy's seeming childishness in comparison to Mikhail. With the factions whittled down (it looks like we now have Japanese government + main cast vs. vampire faction led by Yevgraf vs. vampire faction led by old leaders), I think we'll now focus sharply on the conflict with vampires and Yuliy's resolve will be tested. One question is whether oujo-sama will simply be a wallflower (i.e. chasing after Yuliy without him ever realizing) or someone who will help Yuliy forward (whether through love or friendship). Either way these are great developments and if they keep this up it'll be a great series.

I feel like the series hasn't had an action-less episode yet.

The action choreography is pretty damn good especially when Mikhail cut up that damned Frankenstein-ish monster.... Speaking of that thing, it's weird how it got destroyed so early on in the story, I thought it was going to be an integral part of the story....

Same with the Hyakko Party, the leader looked pretty strong early on as he killed a vampire in the 3rd episode I believe but turns out he ain't shit. Guess we'll just have the two factions then(the vampires and the Jaegers or V company)

Also, the rich girl: "It's fate that made us meet each other..."

Me: "Are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure it was you stalking Yuily that made you meet them.

We might finally get an info dump on the arc next episode....

She gets hate because she is a badly written character that people like you only like because you can self insert as her in this story. I don't want a blank slate who's only role is to fall in love with the MC. I want a 3 dimensional character in a story that I can get immersed in.

PA Works's traces are very prevalent in this anime. The characters are really their strong point I must say. What I mean by that is all of the characters including the background ones are just more than a boring bean pole that stands around doing nothing. They all look like they are actually alive. That's probably why I've been enjoying their shows so much. ^_^

She's only had like 10 minutes screen time in total and I doubt that she'll actually end up with the MC.
And I didn't say I hate her I said she is getting hate for no reason because there has been no reason to hate her other than the fact that she is "boring".

She is not badly written only because you don't like her. I would even say the contrary is the case, if you can develop so much hate for a character. All characters in this show are interesting and feel real. Especially the brothers. The girl wants some adventure and she has a crush on the cool looking badass guy with a kind heart. Who can blame her? How Dorothea adresses her stalker behaviour directly, how she tells her "Yulliy doesn't get romance" - that is refreshing and real.

The way the characters are written is just brilliant. I admit I'm not the biggest fan of histroical backgrounds, also all those different groups confuse me, not to mention that projects like the Frankenstein guy makes not much sense to me.

But the characterization is one of the best I have seen in a long time. The characters feel incredible real and they manage to do this with only a few scenes and some lines. I really enjoy the Professor-Yulliy relationship, or Phillip-Yuliy ("wandering around like an aimless dog"), Dorothea-Ryouko ("Yulliy doesn't get romance"), the Ryouko-Yulliy relationship (he doesn't notice her AT ALL) and of course the relationship between the brothers. Yuliy, always kind and smiling, but also indifferent and distant, has no deep relationships with his team members, always the lone wolf, literally, gets all emotional when it's about his brother and behaves like a child. How they managed to make Mikhail look like an badass vampire while it's obvious he still is as kind hearted as he was back then, is also impressive. They could mess up the whole vampire plot and I wouldn't care as long as they keep going with the great characterization. Only the irish guy feels a bit unnecessary and out of place until now.

Mikhail is in another league. Gotta catch up, Yuliy! >.<"
Mikhail also seems quite sad :( There's something he knows about the future which is inevitable. I wonder what it is. Maybe he'll lose self control/sanity later one somehow? :( Love his trust in Yuliy still, even though he's now his "enemy"

Ojou-sama finally did something .-. but that doesn't mean she's part of the gang lol. Why do mangakas like adding these type of weak, annoyingly persistent, romance chasing girls into the story? -.-
