THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
The opening song is great! I like the powerful tunes and featuring the main characters. I didn't expect anything less from MAN WITH A MISSION.

Damn, those scars...Sugimoto must of went through a lot. Asirpa continues to demonstrate her knowledge of survival skills and it's impressive. There's also slightly more comedy now especially with the character chemistry between her and Sugimoto.

Also glad to see Yoshitake animated.

Character expressions are also to show a bit although I perfer the manga's more so far.

and then complain when harem manga or isekai gain adaptation, different series like Golden Kamuy are always depreciated for any reason,

1 -if the animation is good, but if it has censorship, is not good,

2- if it does not have censorship, but the animation has some error, is not good,

3 - if the animation is good and has no censorship, but it has a problem of pace, so it is not good,

and the list goes on.

If movie and series fans were as demanding as anime fans, the movie hero industry would be bankrupt.

I love this ep. Sugimoto's VA is so good. We have some citatap and hinna!
The pace is ok, the manga has a lot of action that it's hard to make it slower.
I was laughing during Sugimoto and Shiraishi's falling and trying to make fire.

The manga is always better, but I'm really enjoying this adaptation. Low budget faces aren't a problem for me, because every TV-series has some of them. Can't wait to see our matagi next week.

Yeah, the animation was not good.
IMO, OP was good but ED was Better

Despite some production problem, honestly I'm really enjoying this adaptation so far, nice pace & I like Ogata & Shiraishi VA, they're seem pretty fit.

Really nice opening.

And wow, this episode was even better than the first one, I'm definitely hooked. I like the adventure vibe with a hint of mystery, the great character interaction between Sugimoto and Asirpa which is fun to watch and relaxing. It works well as a little breather between the thrilling action.

The story is also progressing with a good pace imo. Hope this continues to be such an intriguing watch.

I've been waiting for a long time to hear Asirpa say HINNA and CITATAP. And finally we get it yeah! And they nailed the voice for Shiraishi, aka the Escape king.

It's a darn shame that a manga as amazing as this one didn't merit a more high budget adaptation with higher production values.

The opening is really good. Got to know some more backstory for Asirpa. Sugimoto has some mean looking scars, he sure has been through a lot. They have some good chemistry. His interaction with the Escape King was pretty funny. Looks like more people are after the gold.

OP is amazing, based MWAM. ED is very god too. This episode adapted 5 chapters (chapter 3-7) and was surprisingly well-paced. I guess 5 chapter per episode can become a regular thing now, which means that this season will probably end at chapter 59. Well adapted overall. Animations are good, art is a bit iffy at times, but it's all fine.

Shiraishi's just as fun as he was in the manga. And that ending... Tsurumi hype!!!

All in all, a very hinna episode :P

Shiraishi is on the scene! As well as Hijikata, briefly mentioned, and some other important characters. I suppose a narrator was mandatory for this series, loved the kitatap scene. So chapters 3 through 7 adapted this week. And I would say...fairly well. I'm still a bit uncertain about the production values for this, lotta wonky faces this week in particular, and as I said last week I'm hoping they don't go into anime-only territory or jump around wildly as it gets closer to the end. But so far so good I guess.

I prefer the manga so far. The anime has some art/animation problems, but the pacing seems fine.

I’m just glad i finally got to see Asripa making one of her funny faces animated and hear her say Hinna Hinna!

OP is just 'nice', for now, but I think in time it'll grow on me. Wow, Sugimoto's body is so scarred. Not only that but some of his wounds are pretty. No wonder he's nicknamed Immortal, he must've dodged death a bunch of times.

Asirpa's no-kill rule is gonna get them in trouble eventually.

Lol this episode was more comedic than anything else xDD

No CG bears! Hooray! I don't mind the lower-detail style so much; better to cut the budget there IMO than other places. Animation was okay; weighty enough for the fight scenes to work this time around. Their ideas and choreography were solid, but I'm still mostly staying for the story and cast.

Only minor stumble for me writing-wise was the slightly convenient tool for starting the fire; current impressions are that just using the razor would have been a more satisfying choice, but at the same time, what we got is perfectly plausible (and potentially significant later, but I'll reserve judgement on that for now).

Production values continue to be really inconsistent, but the story & characters are what keep me interested.

Still, I took a look at the manga, and I don't really think this episode was paced that well. A bit too much skipped dialogue and narration for my liking.

I'm definitely going to read it all once the anime ends.

Pretty good episode.

To be honest, I did not expect the first prisoner guy to get shot like that. It caught me totally off guard.

Shiraishi seems like a fun guy, the final scene was pretty funny especially when he pulled that bullet out of his mouth. Hilarious. xD
That said, just how many things does he keep in his mouth?

Looks like a lot of people are after the hidden money.

The opening song is nice with good visuals and music.
Sugimoto's scars all over his body gave me chills, he had some hard times. Asirpa continues to teach how to survive in the wild, that is one of the good things of the anime so far. Asirpa and Sugimoto's chemistry is hilarious to watch.
We had more information about the tattoos and prisoners. The story is about to get darker.

"There's one way to not die that I learned in the war. Don't be killed."

What a profound statement.

All jokes aside, this was a pretty good episode. I like the OP (on the other hand i might have to listen to the ED a little more to see if it grows on me), and the interactions between Sugimoto and Asirpa were nice to watch. The animation could be better but i like the story so far, so i can overlook it (for now).

Also, Shiraishi and Sugimoto's ordeal with hypothermia was unexpectedly funny.

This adaptation is growing on me, the visuals are wonky and alright~ at best, but I think the pacing, voice acting and mostly everything else is done well enough to the point where the show is interesting and fun to watch. I'm hoping they can patch up the animation for the Blu-Ray release.

Huh, here I was expecting a serious and gritty story only to find a lot of charming and funny humor and interactions on top of an already interesting premise. This is even better than what I expected. Yes, the animation could be better, but unlike the Junji Ito collection, the artwork isn't really a part of the "soul" of this series, if that makes any sense, so I don't mind it that much. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Isn't it such a cruel world they live in. I wouldn't imagine myself hunting rabits and other animals to eat them... especially raw. but i wouldn't eat them anyway. It just seems too cruel, but I know they have to do that in order to live.

Pretty good episode. I'm surprised they managed to make a fire so fast. When he jumped in the water I was like wtf you're not going to find anything you'll just die. But it was okay. Really interesting anime overall.

AHH FUCK I've been sitting around on needles all day waiting to watch this!!

LEGGO:
-the opening, holy shit, I'm way too obsessed with the song! It was also really pleasant to watch, the way it went from nice and chill to more alert and badass <3 I'm just sad we didn't get to see more of the other characters, felt like way too many shots of Sugimoto and Asirpa xD

-not sure what I expected from Ogata's voice, but hot dayum it didn't let me down! A little part of me feels like it could've been better but again, idk and idc :D love it! Also, to quote the seiyuu: "Hyakunosuke-chan's eyes are nice. The way he brushes his hair back is nice. And then... His voice (laughs)" --nwohaha

-CITATAP! Welcome to the GK cuisine show! Here we have... Citatap, Citatap and... oh, more Citatap! Better get used to it! 8D *also shoves some brain down ur throat* hinna hinna!

-I died at Ogata's bloated face, end of review. No, kidding.

-I mean I still think the animation is a bit too stiff and not entirely what I wanted but when Shiraishi appeared it suddenly... loosened up. I guess it fits, more fluid animation for such a fluid... character..?? U KNOW WHAT I MEAN with him dislocating his joints and all! *barf engerish*

-*sobs* the foxy old man... looks good animated too... look at all of them in that ending... ahh~

BLEP sorry I'm way too hyped for this anime, GK is literally all I'm thinking 24/7 lately. Hope you enjoyed if u even read all this crap, seeya next week!

YUP, this is definitely one of my favorite anime this season. Goddamn, Sugimoto is basically what it would look like if Tanya Degurechaff was written by Hirohiko Araki, LOL. First he punched a fking bear, now he used his gun as a throwing weapon... I fking love this guy, lol.

Geno Studio is certainly starting to become a studio I really like... this is just their second show, but both Kokokku (after the first episodes) and this are absolutely amazing. I hope they get to adapt more unique manga in the future, lol.

I haven’t read the manga, but how is Golden Kamuy affected by the Young Jump curse? You even said that everything other than the art and animation is solid. Other people said that the pacing is good, which was one of the biggest complaints about the Tokyo Ghoul anime, and it doesn’t have the awful censorship of the broadcast version of Tokyo Ghoul and Terra Formars.
