I'm speechless. It was a fantastic episode.
Graphics, animation, sounds, everything. 10/10
Only the plot is a bit unclear to me.

I second this. It seems it took this show 4 episodes to become really, really good. One of the best this season, I daresay.
Yes, the storyline is a bit unclear, but I guess that what makes it so interesting.

Wow i wonder if Colio is really gone for good as he looked to be a pretty central figure in the show, what with the book girl falling in love with him through time and stuff.

I guess this is the end of the first arc? Poor Meatkid, but he found his love in the end <3

Sudden infodump at the end of the episode though, what's up with Griisan (my nickname for Volken) betraying everyone suddenly?

the story with colio and shiron seemed a little to much like a chicken and the egg type thing. How did colio get the books about the future, if he was part of her inspiration, without knowing it.

As for what seems like the main story, wtf volken?

It's a classic example of a self-fulfilling prophecy. She did the things that she did because she knew that Colio would eventually read about her later and fall in love with her based on her fighting back against the weird clown guy. Colio did the things that he did because he realized basically the same thing, that Shiron had fallen in love with HIM because he fought back against Segal.

FlashForward [the new ABC series] goes through a lot of the same issues.

This show had a 7 in my ratings. Now it has a 10.

I loved the idea of Colio and the Laughing Witch, two people from different times, falling in love by finding out about one another. Quite original.
Also, I am glad for what happened to Colio. He might have died, but in the end he turned into a human and both he and the witch died satisfied, knowing that they destroyed a great evil.

Also, the battle between Meseta and Segal was tense and exciting. While animation was not best at times, the content of battle was exciting and you never were able to guess who and when will win.

Probably the best show of this season, I dare say.

Yeah that was pretty much my thought.

Overall I really enjoyed the episode. Plus you had the interesting mix of Shiron and Colio acting in the ways they knew were necessary. I suppose it's fitting that they both acted in the way that caused the other to fall in love with them right before their respective deaths.

Of course the downside is that they are both dead. Not to mention Colio was about all that was keeping my attention to this series. Now that he's dead it's "meh who cares what happens now?" Maybe if it looks like Hamutz is about to bite it I might keep going since I really don't like her.

umm wait...Is Colio really dead. He & Shiron was the main reason I was watching the anime. If someone really knows for sure if he is dead or not perferable someone who read the manga let me know.

He had a huge metal spike punched through his chest. Unless they pull something crazy out in the next episode, he's a dead as dead can be.

1. Not every anime is based on manga you know. Some, like this one, are based on novels

2. Yes, he is dead. There is no chance that eh survived and looking at the fact that their story is complete, there is no reason to let him live any more as that would just make it dragged out and ruin it. The Shiron&Colio arc is finished.

Thank you for the respond, then this anime is over for me after 4 episodes, in my opinion he an Shiron were the only interesting characters. I hope a lot of people will drop the anime so it may really hurt them.

That kind of sucks. The shiron & colio story was the main reason i enjoyed the show so far too. THe armed librarians, other than Hamutz, have mostly been uninteresting (although now the never kill an innocent do gooder found out someone he hates is alive so abandons everything to seemingly get revenge, what?). Will be interesting to see if the rest can keep it interesting. It just seems kind of crappy that they put so much focus on Shiron and her book and then just drop her immediately.

While of course it is possible for things to change, Hamutz seems too one dimensional to be the sole main character. It would be like a black lagoon with only Revy (which is whom Hamutz reminds me of strongly).

Well it should be ok like this, but still it's sad...
In the beginning I was thinking about something like resurection of Shiron after collecting all pieces of her book and then she could live happily ever after with Colio, but i guess it's not happening.
Anyway...it was realy great how Shiron and Colio fell in love with each other though they are from different times. And the scene with them sitting together was...sad,but nice to see that they found happiness.
Now i'm realy curious about the old man with "the stone sword of spent time".I have an assumption that he might be the God of the past - Bantorra. He is realy suspicious...appearing here and there giving pieces of Shiron's book to Colio and then giving a whole book(probably of big importance) to Volken. He's gotta be some big fish :/

The crap? One of the 2 characters I liked is dead meat. Here waiting for some more intersting characters to show up next ep since I can't watch this simply for Meseta and gotta endure Mr.Want-to-grow-up-but-wind-up-sucking-his-mama-*beep* >_>

*yawn* bored... Guess Imma go get some laughs with Seitokai no Ichizon now and forget about Mr.gayass-who-wanna-become-a-porn-book...

PS: Is it THAT good the fight scene? Since the only good thing that I saw about it is the beginning when Meseta spinning around and throwing rocks at Mr.gayass-who-wanna-become-a-porn-book then most of the rest is all about Mr.gayass-who-wanna-become-a-porn-book goes babbling on and on and Meseta goes "Ahn, ahn, ahn...." as well as getting her clothes torn off... And why did her shirt didn't fall off from all those slashes? The heck?

If Colio is indeed dead, which seems to be the case as many here are attesting to it, then I'm left with mixed feelings. My grievance with the show is of a similar nature, only instead of finding the rest of the cast uninteresting, I find them unlikable as a whole. The Church are clearly bad guys and Hamutz doesn't strike me as any better than that Segal guy that just died.

To use the Black Lagoon comparison, it's like they did Revy in reverse. In the beginning she's this cool chick that can kill a bunch of people, but can be a real bitch when she's pushed. It's like they took the opposite approach here, going bitch first and kind of cool later. Only that doesn't work for me. To clarify I'm talking about episode 2 (I think), where she seems to take a little too much pleasure in killing the meats.

Maybe some of the other librarians will turn out to be likable. I certainly hope so because at this point I have no one to root for.

Well, thing is that one of the reasons that made this show good is outta the way now so of course that would raise suspicion from viewers. And not to mention that the "GREAT" Volken seems to have a very high chance for the show to focus on in the following arcs.... And you know what that means, rite?

It looked like a freight train, not a passenger train so I assumed there was no one else on board, although there just may have been.

& @ Falatorx, I was just making a half joke about the people you don't see in fights like that. I felt bad for Colio yeah, I just didn't like him like other people did, it was more indifference.

And.. Colio's.. Colio's.... Colio! D: It was sad already that Shiron was beheaded in the past, but to kill Colio in such a manner too, that was cruel D:
Although they apparantly got a sweet moment in the end, so it's fine I guess.

This episode left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, if Colio is dead, then I'm happy because the most banal part of the story is over. That whole thing with Calico was just beyond dumb. On the other hand, if that really is it, they spent the whole of these four episodes only on this story and not really setting anything up. We have a very narrow view of how this world works, and I felt like the writers panicked a little trying to shoehorn all of this information in at the end.

As it is, I don't trust the writing to give anything well-defined or interesting, and the production itself is just as inconsistent. If any other studio had done the fight on top of the train, I could have been excited, but this was just so underwhelming to me on so many levels.

Excellent episode. This Colio & Shiron stuff was ok, but Meseta, Librarians and the Sect are so much more interesting to me that I'm glad Meatkid is finally gone for good. The train was indeed a freight one, poor conductor anyway. If it was not magically automated or something like this. Ah, Hamyuttsu was so Alucardi-sh during that fight =).
