Although I love all three seasons, I kinda get that season 2 and 3 felt a bit different. One thing that I didn't like in the last two seasons was that Hachiman seemed to be somewhat less confident. In season 1 he would be very confident saying his opinion and then "source : me". I feel like he got a bit more humble and kind in season 2. I do think that his character evolves in a good way but his overconfidence and his way of solving problems in season 1 made me really appreciate him.

As much as I loved S2 S3 I'd blame the director and studio for the confusion they caused by skipping so much source material content. I thought everything became too melodramatic until I actually read proper explanations through the novel.

The director even had a bias towards Yui apparently lmfao which is why best girl Yukino didn't get as much screen time

In the first season there is comedy, it is a more happier atmosphere.
The second season focuses a lot on drama, and it is where all the problems that the first season was preparing are presented, since you can see how Hachiman's actions affect the relationship between Yui, Yukino and him, apart from more things.
It would be understandable if this drastic change in gender did not convince you, although Oregairu was always a much deeper anime than it appears, perfectly showing the gravity and how our actions impact

True. It was more entertaining.

But its easy to forget those were all lies he convinced himself to believe. It was all a mechanism to feel better and feel less pained about being alone.. despite still desiring to make connections.

Hachiman slowly taking more direct action throughout the arcs were because he started to care about Yukino and Yui. Which contradicted all of his "beliefs" and rants about society and the selfish deceptive nature of people etc.

Is it just me but S2-S3 felt more drama heavy with less comedy, and the fact that hachiman's character begin to change might also be the reason. It could also be the distance/awkwardness between the mcs in S2. That's personally what I felt changed from S1.

It goes progressive more from slice of live —> drama as the series goes on. I think the series is overall good but I can understand not liking it because of the increased drama and “stakes.” But it’s just up to preference.

This is probably one of the most glazed romance anime though on social media.
The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

At the time, I thought the first season was the weakest. I didn't like the way the series started, but it had the best Hachiman and the best animation.

Although I liked the second and third seasons more, I think their adaptations are bad. That animation is not for Oregairu, the studio sided with Yui, Hachiman and Yukino look like an old couple, there are unrecognizable characters like Ebina, etc.

I think it's because they leaned A LOT into the melodrama in later seasons and for a very fun and lighthearted setting initially, it's hard to take seriously when it goes down.

At least that is my feeling personally as well.

s2 went all in with the drama, s3 was kinda underwhelming for a finale.

Everyone feels the same , my friend is an on and off anime fan. If he can’t binge watch series he drops it or forgets about them if he is following them weekly( which he rarely does). He just saw first 2 seasons n never went on to see the 3rd season. Even for me season 3 was too verbose and I know my friend would never be able to finish it. Hachiman changed from s1 , he was challenging tropes in s1 and then from s2 onwards , it became a show that follows most of the tropes and is a bit dialogue heavy.

I get why you felt disconnected. Season 1 had a lot of sharp humor, while Season 2 and 3 were more introspective. Oregairu was never just a romcom, it was about growth and understanding relationships beyond superficial interactions. The emotional weight in Season 2 and 3 is what makes the story complete, rather than just repeating the same formula. You don’t have to love it, but it’s one of those stories where the depth becomes clearer when you look back on it

It stops being funny and starts being talky and pretentious. My ratings for it go 8, 7 and 6. I feel like by the end of the third season the show was so thoroughly up its own ass I wasn't enjoying it anymore, but kept watching hoping for a moment that never REALLY arrived.

And then I watch Rascal Doesn't Dream and we have a confession by the end of episode 2.

@bahimiron you compare apple to orange. Bunny Sempai is by no means trying to do what SNAFU wanted to do. The show is comedy in his first season because both Hachiman and Yukino both are still convinced to be right but through the interaction with people of their school and community (drama of season 2 and 3) they both learn why they were wrong but also what it mean for them (reason why Yui never had a chance with Hachiman to begin with). Bunny Sempai is about coming of age through supernatural elements with the syndrome which is why you get the confession earlier as it was clear that Sakuta had a crush on Mai the second he saw her. Now whatever one you prefer it's up to preference but SNAFU was never about a confession it was about two loner to accept that some people want to be part of their live. It's why only one pairing was inevitable and that since episode 1 in season 1.

Because everything led to a snoozefest of a prom, as nothing ever happened. Also the author copy-pasted White Album2 but didn't know how to add characterisation so as to avoid copyright.
