This show is like one big party. Hina got into the mood with all smiles and the sunglasses.

Okimemo Shiisaa is comedy gold in this. I know he's different from everyone else but still fun to have him around giving us popcorn entertainment moments.

Kana coming to the rescue!!
She was probably just checking up on the main but hopefully this will allow them to get a little closer.
The main really underestimated the typhoon it seems.
And i didn't expect to hear about the DVD rental place in 2025.

yeah, Okinawa Soba is quite different from the typical Japanese soba in both noodles and the toppings.
Tsutaya mentioned!!
Nothing is exciting or fun about the typhoon. Never underestimate and be prepared for the worst.

Daily reminder Kana best girl. I could really go for Okinawan soba right about now actually. Really been craving Japanese and Korean food the last couple of weeks!

Felt like this was one of the better episodes, I quite enjoyed learning about “getting on your knees” in Okinawan and Typhoons. It’s funny how people who live in areas where these storms hit often just kind of become used to them and it’s a yearly thing where you just get movies, snacks, drink with the boys before etc.

Of course power goes out 😂 Kana showing up at Teeru’s home to ride out the storm together? Aw, she’s such a good friend. this’ll be fun. Can’t wait for next ep

Hmm a rotating festival day. Still it certainly was interesting seeing how different Obon is in Okinawa compared to the mainland. No matter how much they burned though im sure the dead would be happy. The reimagining of Kyan and Kana as waitresses that see a Teru show up from the mainland sure was fun. Odd to have a flavouring thats got alcohol in it though. Yae being the best support for Hina again lol. Getting constant typhoons though must be scary. Esp for Okin rookies like Teru. Perfect stage for Kana to come to the rescue though.

"Okay Teeruu. Get on you knees."
And nothing sus about her tone of voice, really.

"All the bumps would make it uncomfortable to ride"
Nothing suggestive about that, really.

Not the tanlines I have been waiting for.

"Kanaa's a grownup?"
"What happened over summer break?"

Teeruu terrified by toy squished on glass.

@Marinate1016 Me too. Ended up with Vietnamese last night, but almost went for Japanese. I think next week I'll check out our little place near the Wal-Mart food store.

THis is the halfway point and so far the animation and the Okinawa's memos are the highlight of the show. To think that this region holds so many traditions but the one that stuck to me the most from this episode was the DVD player. People still use those players? I mean, in the case of power going out, how would they even play them? If I were stuck in Teruu's situation I would try to sleep or meditate, that sounds like the most plausible until I got connected again I guess.

It's impressive how much Suki's Okinawa teaches us about Okinawa in general, it's practically a lesson in culture... I'm loving it, I'm starting to watch it with a notebook and pen. I researched a little about the dialect and found scientific articles about it, my gold mine, I'm reading and discovering a lot of things, this anime opens doors for many people to get to know Uchinaaguchi which is almost extinct unfortunately, the history of Okinawa is very rich and I'm very grateful that this anime keeps this history alive, this beautiful culture in a certain way. Honestly, even though I know it won't happen... I'm rooting for Higa-san.

Okinawans are keeping DVD culture alive apparently lol, but I don’t even have to lose power to want DVDs/Blurays because I love owning all my stuff physically, especially if it’s a game/show/movie I really like, I love having that disc lol. And wow Teruaki found out real fast that typhoons are no joke in Okinawa, I had a feeling it would be since it’s separate from the mainland, and bro went and ran his phone dead before it happened so no flashlight for him, this did make for some great moments as he got spooked tho lol. But tbh who needs a light when you got a Higa, she’s a real one for going out in that storm to check on Teruaki, can’t wait for some power outage shenanigans in the next one with these two, hopefully alone lol.

The typhoon wasn’t all this episode had to offer tho, I thought the Okinawan Soba bit was a good one featuring a little skit set in 1976 (a great Grateful Dead year) and a drunk Teruaki just from that sauce, his moment with Kyan in that state was cute but what he did to Higa must’ve been too much to show on screen lol, her reaction was hilarious tho. I also liked the extra bit of festival goodness at the start of the episode, any excuse to see Higa in that festival fit I’ll absolutely take, also her and Kyan telling Teruaki to get on his knees was oddly hot lol, but of course this was another Okinawan misunderstanding.

I laugh a lot at how the protagonist Nakamura interacts with his environment in Okinawa.
I hope the typhoon part advances the story in love, although I honestly don't believe it hahaha, I'm satisfied that it continues to give me a few laughs and the characters continue to move my heart.

They mentioned portable DVD players, which are battery powered. I can't imagine they'd be much use if the power's out for days, but they should last a couple of movies.

On the one hand, I think Kana deserves to be the winning heroine given how much she cares and does for him

On the other hand, I'm starting to think she could possibly do better than for a guy who might win a Darwin award one day.

A couple of super funny ideas (Teru getting on his knees, Teru getting 'drunk') and a lot of interesting Okinawan facts this week, plus a very cool cliffhanger at the end.

Another really good episode overall :)

Hearing about a DVD rental place reminds me of the old Blockbuster stores when I was younger. Man I feel old reminiscing about that! XD

Teru accidentally getting drunk was completely unexpected, but it made this scene funnier with how many times he kept thanking Hina and Kana for everything that they have done for him so far. Heck, he even made Hina blush, which was VERY cute!

However, Teru wasn't fully prepared for the incoming typhoon. Not only has the power in his apartment had gone out, but his smartphone battery also died and he has no way to recharge it. The poor guy was getting jumpscared by a toy flying into the window of all things! Thankfully, Kana went to his place to check up on him, which was a good place the end the episode on. I do hope Kana and Teru can get closer to each other depending on how the next episode plays out.

@Spast1c 950 hecto pascals is referring to atmospheric pressure, equivalent to 28 inches of mercury. A low pressure indicating a strongish typhoon with a well developed eye structure.

And because of this, if she does not "win", then im not gonna feel too bad for her.

@oooo3333 It's true that the MC isn't crazy, but I prefer her to win for the simple fact that she's supposed to be the "MC's friend in love" and we all know how that ends, but she has more prominence.

Perfect example of how underprepared your average city-type is. Imagine being so complacent that you don't keep at least a mobile charging brick for emergencies. I live in a fairly well-developed township that rarely sees things like major blizzards, hurricanes or tornadoes and I keep 3.
