That beast summoning ritual was full of surprises. The dolls of Kenzaburo and Grace were pretty cool. But that real world twist was even cooler! I'm glad he has such a supportive wife and daughter to assist him!

Yeah, I never could have predicted that the beast summoning ritual would lead to real-life implications of the MC being isekai’d.

Turns out he’s actually in a deep sleep, and his daughter and his wife can follow his adventures on TV, which is very interesting.

Damn, I knew this show was a 10/10—and it just keeps getting better by the minute.

Yeah I had a feeling early on that Kenzaburou’s family would be involved in some way, looks like it’s like Lieselotte where the folks playing the game are influencing it, I liked it a lot there and I think it’ll be great here too, of course Hinako and her mom Mitsuko haven’t done anything until the beast summoning but I think this is probably just the start, it was really surprising to see a mini Grace and Kenzaburou pop up at first tho lol. Also man Kenzaburou has such a wholesome otaku family, and the references were out the wazoo, I didn’t catch them all but of course I couldn’t miss the Jojo one, it kinda caught me off guard so it actually made me laugh lol.

And Hinako and Mitsuko took the news very well surprisingly, I thought it was about to get real but it took one explanation and everyone was onboard to beat the game lol, I guess we don’t need to waste time on the acceptance of the situation so I appreciate it, it’s also good to keep the show lighthearted too, like I love that Kenzaburou isn’t actually dead but in a coma in the real world, that almost never happens in these Isekai shows lol, this makes me hope he can get back to his family by he end. But now Grace has a sick fire and water dragon, I’m interested in seeing how the beasts play into the story.

This is giving me hardcore Tsunlise vibes and I LOVED that anime. I expected the plot twist and I think they gave some hints but man am I happy they did it on episode 4 already. This anime just keeps getting better and better.

Also, is it just me or the dragon was animated quite nicely? I expected it to be CGI

That was a good episode, I'm glad that the real World is being brought in on some level. It was funny how quickly the mother jumped on board the idea of the dad being trapped in the game.

Also those poor familiars don't appear to get much of the animation budget

I actually enjoyed the "Dad" being stuck "in another world", not "in a game." lol

Then, they just had to add that concept in this series... which I greatly liked back then, but it somehow doesn't fit in this narrative.

Anyway, I enjoyed most of what Kenzaburou is doing in that world than what his family thinks he is doing in that game.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

i love the family, i love the story, if everything keeps going smooth for me this will be anime of the season!
otaku father + otaku mother = otaku daughter
the balance in this story between isekai, comedy, and unintentional humor is GOLDEN!
i only started watching it based on recommendation.
this is amazing!

"after rewacthing the scene 5 times" ....... it's a playstation visual novel game, japan exclusive
the daughter used O to make a choice , not X . this is japanese exclusive controller set up of the very early PS1 games
in japan original games O and X were designed to mean "yes, no" while square was your menu, and triangle was your action button.

the black controller hand, means it's obviously not PS1, maybe PS2, or PS3, using LCD tv, means it's an HDMI wire, meaning it's a PS3 game; since PS2 needs a CRT tv.
and since in japan romance visual novels in "number" can EASILY rival the "water molecules" in the ocean! for every "H2O" there exists around 50 visual novels, either released old, being made and written, or being published.. picking this specific story is a miracle.
also i highly believe that the only reason why she got the ancient dragon is.. Grace's own attribute is fire obviously, and Dad's attribute is obviously water, so ... it begs the question.. had the body been shared by 4 consciousnesses, would that result in a mad miracle, calling upon a quad attribute beast? something simply omnipotent?
having 2 consciousnesses obviously means Grace has 2 mana sources.. and now that Daughter is also involved .. and possibly Mom..
this show keeps getting better and better!

1 final question...
if Dad had black hair, and Mom has dark brown hair .. how come Daughter has light brown hair? ... most likely recessive genes .. or because of .. youth??

A very surprising development. So Kenjaburou-san is not dead after all. At first I assumed he was dreaming the game world, but this is not the case either.

His mind/soul was isekai'd to the game world while his body is slumbering in Japan. And his family can partly influence the progress of the game. That's quite an original plot.

I completely cracked up when mini Grace and mini Kenjaburou emerged from that egg. Would they have remained like this if his daughter had not intervened?

I really love Kenzaburou's otaku family, their characterization and interactions are just super wholesome and fun, and I kinda envy them tbh 🥹. Also all the otaku references are such a great touch!

From the beginning I expected that Kenzaburou's not actually dead and only his consciousness got temporarily isekai'd while his body is in a coma. That is now confirmed to be true.
BUT I really didn't expect that we'd get a full POV of his family watching his every move as the villainess and even interact in some special events. This is hands down the most unique isekai twist I've seen in a while! Ep 1-3 was already great and really fun to watch, but this Ep 4 really expands the possibilities and I'm much more intrigued!

That was some plot twist. Kenzaburou is alive, but his consciousness has been isekai'ed to the game world and can be seen by his daughter and wife.

Speaking of his wife, I love how they bleeped the old-school isekai:

1. Neverending Story

2. The Chronicles of Narnia

3. Twelve Kingdoms

4. Fushigi Yuugi

Those are some of the titles I caught up but missed others.
@patkarunungan

What you have missed:

Crest of the Royal Family (the series is listed as "ongoing" despite the mangaka is 90 years old...)

Mashin Hero Wataru (also one of the early popular SD mecha series)

NG Knight Ramune & 40 (another mecha series)

Rayearth (which has a new anime planned)

Aura Battler Dunbine (that's very old school, also mecha series)

Leda: The Fantastic Adventure of Yohko (I actually don't quite remember this one, maybe I should look up for it)

Eh? bro, they took the fact that the protagonist is trapped inside the video game too well ._.

Although well, I guess it's to give a little more "speed" to the plot and not stagnate in a classic isekai.

Now that I think about it; I guess it's better that the protagonist is in a "coma" instead of having died definitively xd

This show is SO interesting man. We finally get to see what's happening on the other side in real life with his family, and I guess apparently his daughter is playing the game in real life while he's experiencing it? It sounds like a simple concept but damn is it still interesting. I can't wait to see more of him as grace and now with the added element of his daughter helping him throughout the story by playing through it.

I'm with Hinako on not rerolling when the intention of the game is to give you a random partner. I recall this being a thing with Princess Connect ReDive, since the game gave you one random 3* character near the start, and some players would recreate accounts until they got one of the stronger characters.

Disaster averted with that summoning, with the two dolls being replaced with a dragon. O.O

Tokusatsu hero? I'm surprised Hinako didn't draw the line to isekai protagonist. Aside, they're taking his being in a coma rather well.

About the controller... that looks like a ps4 controller, and there's no "A" button on those. At least Hinako appears to press circle to confirm, which is what it would usually be.

"100% purebred geek"... Makes me wonder how common those are in real life, and how parents turn out growing up with otaku works from the 80s or 90s, vs stuff from the 2010's.

Shocking amount of heart for an otome isekai. Funny how the more comedic premises often manage better plots and serious moments for these played out genres. Definitely wonder about that lend a hand interaction scene. What's the point of it? Could be we have a narrator/god entity in the mix too like you see with the standard shounen isekais. Generally that wouldn't be a good thing, but this show has gotten top marks for execution so far, so I'd tentatively trust it with that additional twist.

After four episodes, this is a rare case of a well thought out anime. Comedy in moderation, the logic of the world and the story is there. And it's isekai... It is interesting to watch. Plot twists are original and unoriginal at the same time. That is interesting. I thought it would be another run-of-the-mill, and this is one of the best anime this season.

What I'm wondering on the most now is that if he comes back to the real world, would that mean the real Grace would come back to that world? And if so, would she still be "bad" or a changed person? (Maybe she's viewing her life through his lenses?)

Maybe one day Grace (Kenzaburou) will have another fall, and Kenzaburou will wake up in the hospital, while Grace will wake up in her body. She'll have the memories of treating Anna and all the other characters nicely for however long Kenzaburou inhabited her body, but she may not identify those memories as her own. Then Kenzaburou and his family will only be able to watch through the TV what Grace does with the reputation Kenzaburou has set her up with.
Not sure how a scene where Kenzaburou and Grace get to actually meet would turn out. There's that pair of shots in the OP with Kenzaburou and Grace seemingly in the same environment though.

Yo, loved the episode. I think this is the first isekai anime i ever watch that the real world actually has an effect on the fantasy world. Was shocked when Hinako's arms actually dove into the TV combining both dolls into a beast. Excited to see how this turns out and how the series would conclude as well!

@orchestralslices I tried but i didn't like that at all. I understand that both characters' dialogues were impacting the game, but it was done in such a weird way, honestly. Like in this anime, it looked cool. But in there, whatever they say just happens. It's weird watching 2 main characters in the real world control the other 2 main characters in the game, making one not quite sure who actually are the main characters. I don't know, i just didn't like that one at all.

Wow this was ana mazing episode, this anime continues to impress me.

It was cool to see Mom and daughter back in the real world and good to find out that Dad is in a coma. But the really interesting thing is that we saw them interact with the game world. This is going to be really cool to see if/how Dad puts it all together and realize his family knows he's in the game.

I would think that he would almost have to make it back to them alive right? Although it would hit hard in the feels if he didn't in the end.

Is it next week yet???

I was expecting the old man to still be alive, just unconscious and dreaming about the game he got into because of his daughter. But what they actually did was even better. His consciousness got transferred into the game, and now he’s trapped there until he finishes it. The series knows how ridiculous it is, but it balances not taking itself too seriously while still trying to make sense.

I also liked how the daughter didn’t even have to convince her mom about what’s happening—she’s an otaku herself. And those references from old shows were great! Looks like we’re getting a Dragon Ball Z reference next episode too.

Interesting choice to have the family in the real world interact with the game world. Its like elements of Isekai Ojisan and Endo and Kobayashi together.

Not a huge fan though if from here on the real world stuff gets a lot of screen time. Still want to focus on the fantasy side.
