A lot of character focus on Gonda this episode. The idea of him trying to get married and start a family already sounds like a rushed idea but hey, that's he wants. A good reason too since he seems to want to build his own future.

Felt like there was a decent amount of relationship dynamics from this episode, along with realism.

Gon couldn't go for it at the right moment but he seems serious.
I hope he will go through with it and find his happiness with Kaori since he seemed really serious when he found out she had a child.
It seems Kaori also has some feeling but she also needs to put some work in she is also worried about her child.
Things must be hard on both of them.

What a change of pace this episode brought—first, I was rooting for and laughing at how rushed Gonda was to get married, and then everything shifted when he learned the truth about Kaori.

Gonda really is a great guy. It’s understandable that he got ahead of himself, wanting to date her with the intention of marriage (probably influenced by cultural reasons). His goal of building a loving family, considering his own didn’t work out when he was a child, is heartwarming. But he should have taken the time to truly get to know her first.

Not many men would be willing to take on the responsibility of raising a child abandoned by another man along with the mother. To date a single mother, you have to understand it’s not just about you and her—it’s about all three of you. Gonda didn’t shy away from that. He recognized how much Kaori loved her son and knew he had the means to support them, but the issue isn’t just money. It’s the commitment he was ready to make without fully knowing her.

If he had spent time getting to know her and then proposed, it would have made more sense. But jumping straight to marriage without that foundation—it’s a complicated situation, no doubt.

Man, some random characters have more impact than the mains.

I kinda suspected that she is a single mother ... Its all fun and games, until you realize the real weight of a marriage, and all that comes with it. Gonda-san seemed like a total goofball, nice to see he grew a little.

And i hope he does not give up.

Fuuuuuuuuck. This episode hit right in the feels.

There wasn't much Rika or Takuya in this episode. The focus on Gonda kinda surprised me. And it was a good episode. Better than the episode with Shinshi. I wonder how he took the divorce... Why did he show up with blonde hair like a delinquent? Did he finally lose it?

This episode made me sympathize with Gonda. It was good that he decided to deprioritize Komiya and search for a partner elsewhere. But in the end, he just ended up getting hurt... I hope he'll still somehow end up with Kaori. It's pretty obvious he screwed up because he wasn't prepared for the bomb she dropped. It'd be shitty if she didn't give him a second chance.

At this point, I'm not sure what the show is trying to tell us about marriage. Almost all of the relationships Takuya is seeing lately are failed ones or have some weird complications. Seems like he's realizing how big of a responsibility marriage is. And he probably shouldn't have treated it as a joke with Rika. Feels bad for Takuya. He definitely took the "rejection" worse than Rika. Wonder how they're gonna reconcile.

Me and the bad bitch I pulled by being an idol otaku..

That awkward moment when the side character’s ship has more depth and characterisation in one episode than the main couple in half a season. Who’s cutting onions in here? End of the episode had me in tears when I saw Gonda breakdown on the bridge.

I was already a little on edge throughout the ep because of how down on himself and insecure Gonda is. Hate seeing great people belittle themselves and act as if they don’t have great things to offer the world. Gonda’s such a nice and pure soul. The sort of friend every guy needs.

He and Kaori got on so well, I figured there had to be some catch and it ended up being the kid. Personally, I would’ve instantly said yes to Kaori when she asked if he still wanted to be with her knowing that. But I do respect that they played it out in a realistic manner. For a lot of people that would be a big concern and you’d really need to think before taking on that commitment so fair enough. It looks like Kaori didn’t delete their pics so hopefully my boy gets his happy ending ❀️

Gonda’s storyline really tugs at you because I think anyone would find it relatable as it’s one of those situations anyone can find themselves in as well as one where no one is in the wrong but no one is in the right either (depending on how you look at it)

The profile pics in my EVIL OVERLORD Dating App are a gas.

Gonda, passing over your unseemly haste to propose, what your should have said is:

I'm thinking Gonda and Kaori will eventually get together, especially since she didn't delete his photo. I'm hoping ponytail girl(did anyone else think for a second she was going to ask Gonda out instead?) took note of him bringing his bank statements with him, and passed it on to Kaori. If I was Takuya, I would've told Gonda it's an opportunity to give that little boy the happiness he didn't have when he was a kid.

Hard hitting episode just like ep6 with the divorce storyline, but damn the delivery is bad in both episodes. In ep6 it was ruined with the chimped out behavior, they didn't commit to the serious tone all the way which was a shame. This episode there's no climax to this storyline and probably there won't be going forward. Nearly a whole episode dedicated to Gonda's love life to end without a conclusion, 4* episodes left for the main couple to finally make any kind of move. I just don't see Gonda getting more screentime. One way or another, it's just another fumbled episode imo

Women changing hairstyle and/or color is a common trope (irl too) that translates to "having moved on from a relationship".
Now, Shishi ain't a woman but they probably used the trope for the same vibe with different gender.
Imo.

This is the most emotionally charged of this series so far. That line about about Kaori having faith in him, and then he "flinched" moved me because I as put in that position twice. Gonda really rushed the relationship by proposing to date and then eventually marry. This is probably due to his character feeling "left out" in the relationship game which possible prompted him to want to marry the first girl that gave him the attention. But even if that's the case the best option is to ask to date her first before fully committing into a long term relationship.

He was not really giving her an easy out option by proposing to her that way without making her look shallow. I almost thought this was the case when she walked past him without answering his question. Then came the long trip to the daycare center where the caveat was shown. Damn. He is just being human by not providing an immediate answer. That decision takes a long time to make and it looks like he is fully committed to it by bringing his bank statement with him. I hope that the series explore this relationship more in the upcoming episode, and from some hints it looks like this relationship will have a good ending. (I hope).

Shinshi looks like he's bounced back...even if it might be more like a mid-life crisis with bleaching his hair. I'm guessing his divorce went through after all.

I'm unfamiliar with dating apps in Japan, but I assume they're just as filled with men pretending to be women scammers and other catfishing schemes. Gonda seems to have gotten lucky.

That idol-fan Kaori was quite the beauty. But if all they talk about is idols and nothing else, I don't really see the relationship going anywhere beyond simply fellow idol fans, like groupies of a fanclub.

Gonda is getting way ahead of himself...already thinking about popping the question after one freaking date. It's one thing to think it, and another to seriously do it. I'd be really creeped out if I were Kaori. Takuya should have done everything to stop him from making a fool of himself and ruining something good. But since it's him after all, it's not too surprising Takuya gave bad advice of encouragement considering he has zero real-world experience in dating.

So Kaori was a single mom at 28, eh. Probably had her son in her early to mid 20s. But now that Gonda has already come this far, he may as well go for broke and commit all the way...it's what I would have done if I were in his shoes; of course, I would have never put myself in that position in the first place.

I'm glad Gonda has learned from this experience...not everything works out in the end, sometimes in heartache. I hope it works out for both him and Kaori in the future.

Overall, a great episode with a mature subject matter, not just the usual shenanigans of the fake marriage of the main couple.

Wow a whole episode that was basically not even about the MCs, except a little.

I feel bad for Hando, he was laying out his sincere heart to her, and she in return thrust on his shoulders a huge responsibility, which would make most guys surprised since they didn’t discuss it and cause them to think the situation through, it felt kind of mean the way she did it, putting him on the spot like that.

And he tried very soon to meet up with her, to fix the situation and explain what he wanted to do, but she doesn’t even try to hear his answer, she sends a friend instead, another mean thing to do, even the friend saw how serious he was with his papers on the table, she couldn’t help but feel bad for him.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Last week's episode won't be resolved this week, but this episode shows the reality that marriage is not something to take lightly. Gon was head over hills for Kaori, but he has realised how he is inadequate for her. I don't know if we'll see Kaori again but....sad.

Waking up sober and realizing that you been confessed too has to be the most awkward thing. Funny that Ohara was in a worst state though. Damm spending 60k on a dating app is crazy. Its nice that Gonda found a fellow fan that shares his passion. Being a single mom is a heavy responsibility so its no wonder Kaori's cautious. It would be nice to see a happy ending come out of Gonda and Kaori's bond though.

Since I ideally like following and maximum focus being spent on the main characters, especially when it's two or a very few main characters, especially with some sort of romantic dynamic at play, I usually detest in series like that when side characters randomly hijack an episode out of nowhere and dominate most or all of the screentime in it (regardless of it here all being connected thematically to the broader story about uncertainty of romantic endeavors and trials and tribulations of modern romance and all that). But here, I honestly cannot say that I hate it. Admittedly was a little disappointed and turned off at first when it became apparent very quickly after the first few minutes of the episode that they weren't going to move into really right away continuing and building upon the storyline from last episode, especially with the the serious Honjouji scarcity.

But at the same time the main characters and main plot itself don't seem...all that important? So it comes across as less of a big deal to me when they want to spin their wheels in place for however long and take detours. Don't get me wrong - that sounds like a criticism against or some dig at the show, but it really isn't. I just mean that the main plot is in many respects so low stakes and the two leads have such a lack of any sense of urgency even to speak, having to psychologically prep and internally work themselves up to even engaging in brief civil and polite conversations of a few minutes long apiece, that it seems unimportant if we divert to hang out with the supporting characters instead as even when Honjouji and Takuya are both onscreen together, it's not uncommon for very little to no real progress to be made anyway.

I guess that the only real "stakes" (well, besides the open question of whether they'll have any form of real romance flourish which would require them both opening their minds to dispel their self-inferiority and inadequacy complexes and opening their mouths to each other more, but I'm talking a time-sensitive one) is the now-less-than-a-year countdown to the date when employees from their office are supposed to be selected to depart for Anchorage. And whether anyone in their office will still care or be talking about their "marriage" by that point, whether they couldn't keep the ruse going or whether it will cease even being a ruse and become something authentic or closer to the truth by then than it is now. But it's treated as such a distant tertiary concern at this point it's whatever.

This could genuinely be such a masterpiece if not for Gonda to get hanged liked that in the end. Its a trend in this show which is supposed to be about marriage but it always giving this unfulfilled and sad endings everytime. I get what are they trying to achieve but it's not satisfying.

My boi literally hit jackpot with Kaori. They had great chemistry in 5 minutes compared to 8 episodes of main duo and both seemed happy together. But when Kaori secret was revealed him flinching was very natural although kinda frustrating. And even after few days when he was ready now Kaori didn't gave him the chance. Ik she didn't forget/rejected him persay but I doubt she even gonna come back here. It would be such a shame and waste of such good side plot. I hope I am wrong.

Gonda is insecure and down on himself while Kaori struggles as single mother. They clearly like eachother and Gonda was ready too even if he jumped the gun.

They deserve happy ending.

poor Gonda... but I feel like he is really serious about Kaori, so I hope this don't ends like that for him... I mean, she dropped a "bomb" on him, he would naturally be shocked at first, but don't mean he isn't serious about wanting to marry her... at least give dude some time to process (but irl, I would be more worried for Kaori, having a dude wanting to marry her 4 days after meeting each other, being single mother or not ^^' )

anyway... what was that random scene with the guy in the office being blonde? lol... they shown us, and completely ignore for the rest of the episode
