I just watched the first episode and am on the verge of continuing. However, I have seen too many romance anime that just gaslight the viewer for the entirety of the show's duration with no actual progression whatsoever. I have no interest in investing time in such a show. So for those of you who are reading the manga: Is the romance going anywhere?

It keeps progressing but the biggest breakthroughs will probably be in season 2.

It's has a steady romance progression. Though, the biggest progression will be around the end of the season. It concentrates pretty much on sports at the beginning since their love and ambition for their sports brings everyone closer

the romance grows very nicely in the manga. you get lots of cute moments throughout and when they do get closer later on you will feel it

It’s steady but it does kinda drag. There’s gonna be 25 episodes, it might take another 12 to get somewhere real, but I think this season will have a decently satisfying finale. I’m just happy it’s not a 12 episode season.

there is but it's pretty slow. there'll be cute moments but also backtracking with stuff like misunderstandings and other drama which i don't wanna spoil so it has it's fair share of infuriating moments. i was in the mood for some drama when i binge-read it, so it was interesting enough for me but if you're not into that then you might not have the best experience tbh.

Spoiler alert:
The season 1 will probably end where Chinatdu start to develop some feeling for taiki, so at around 75% of the way there. They will start dating at maybe mid to end season 2 if it is a 24 ep season.

That sounds good, thank you for all your responses! I'm happy with slow progression and drama (if done well).

I get you I had the same problem with Roshidere but it seems like this show won’t do that based on the responses so I’m looking forward to it.

For me the pacing is kinda fine. There isnt any misundertsanding that drags on for tens of chapters. And mc doesn't chicken out when the chance present itself.

Yup, it takes time tho. It's not fast paced by any means. It keeps you entertained with the Sports section and comedic situations. But it's not repetitive. You won't be bored.
WISHED I COULD ALSO GET TRANSPORTED TO A WORLD FULL OF MAGIC And DUNGEONS, please take me there too if you could ( ◜‿◝ )

Great pace so far. It seems like something interesting happens each episode, but I really wish we could see more of Chinatsu's perspective and what's on her mind. Although that goes for the manga as well...
