A boring episode, a lot of awkward exposition, especially the thing about how guilds work and about making a new one. I also hated the flashback. It it obviously to make you care about the swordsman guy, but it was done so by the numbers that it is painful to watch. I don't know who do you have to be to be suddenly invested in this character.

It was good seeing Joohee though. She clearly has to overcome some trauma. I wonder how they will realize that. I hope she will be more than a damsel in distress who falls for the MC.

What is this guy's deal?

A new dungeon and this time with convicts. In his last two raids, Jinwoo had one where his team abandoned him to die and another where the members tried to kill him. Wonder what could go wrong this time with a bunch of prisoners joining him.

These guys are less organized than your average pro sports team, but we're supposed to believe the world has based all industry including energy production on them? Then they surprise them with convicts? This is something I'd expect a little kid in elementary school to write.
@Sokah

Who said anything that this fictional world filled with Gates that produce Godzilla sized creatures and characters that can revive and level up is supposed to be a carbon copy of our world and it's resource politics?

I'm all for finding writing flaws, but this feels like some cheap "gotcha" moment.

Hmm they ended up with the good cliffhanger. Several additional contain to fill-up the gap cause of those kind of cliffhanger; by the Cha fanservice, based indeed, Jinhoo brother revelation voice with no face, ofc, and a little mention about Jeju island for future reference. I am gonna say its unneeded, but with Jinhoo brother part, that's a nice addition to setting up a good measure over Jinhoo situation with his father.

All in all, Sung God solo levelling starts again after the unneeded recap before. Let's see...

Garbage pace again. Too much exposition.
I don't know how this (garbage pace) would feel while binge watching, but as of right now they are ruining this adaption. Way too run a masterpiece into a wall.

@felixsifuri The manwha is decent, just read that over waiting with this adaptation, then binge it towards the end.

Too often, nothing happens in an episode, everything is just getting stretched so that they can more seasons to milk this franchise. Legit, the content of the first 8 episodes could have been crammed into 3 to 4 episodes. I suspect we will get "Arise" by the finale annoyingly.

Overall, solo-leveling manwha is a relatively short story despite having 180 plus chapters, you can read it in a couple of days with breaks.

I don't understand people calling this filler, it's obvious that they didn't see real fillers.

This chapter has already begun to lay the foundation for a lot of things later, as well as giving more context for characters that are the focus of this season. Mr. Kim's scene is to generate empathy and understand his actions in the first chapters, it makes you understand what he did but you can still not forgave him for that.

I have already accepted that we are not going to see the end of
but it doesn't bother me knowing how well they are animating the manga

That would have been the WORSE possible outcome for the adaptation if they had chose to crammed everything, this would have been a mediocre anime instead of a great one. Plus it actually give me hope for a great show down the line

A build up ep after a recap in 7.5. The 5 in the end feels ominously foreshadowing.

I don't understand why people didn't like this episode, is a build-up for the next one, a reveal to the old party of jingwoo that he got super fucking strong.
Also I loved the armless ojiisan, he's a nice guy (one of the fewer).

Friren is top 1, but even frieren had some lazy ass episodes where nothing happens (like the one of 2-3 weeks ago, and this week too except for maybe 2 minutes of progress as they were just sitting there "discussing" of what to do).

After a few weeks, another episode of "Ore dake Level Up na Ken" is back. Although this episode lacks action, it is somewhat entertaining.

Jin-Woo has the formula to make the elixir of life and cure his mother, but he is not strong enough yet to gather the ingredients needed to make it. So, he decides to accept Jin-Ho's proposal to form a guild, but on the condition that they alone go to the dungeon.

We also see the Class S characters again, who will be important in the future, and the island is mentioned again, so I am interested in that story.

Jin-Woo is recruited for a new raid, and by fate, he encounters the survivors of the accident he was involved in, especially Joo-Hee and Song. They apologize for leaving him behind and are happy that he has recovered.

This raid seems unusual as they will use convicts because there are not enough hunters. Obviously, this will cause problems.

So this is mostly anime original content. I don’t think the problem is with the content itself. Solo Leveling is notoriously just about the mc getting stronger and lot of fights rather than story and characters. So the anime is trying to expand that a bit. But it’s hard to expand what isn’t there tbh. Even then, the problem is that there is only 12 episodes. There’s a fight in the op that is almost certainly not happening at this pace. Most of us have been saying in general it needed more episodes but this really cements it.

I’m not opposed to anime only content but it clashes with the amount of episodes there and how few there are left.

Considering the difficult situation with Jin-Woo's mother, the decision to accept Jin-Ho's previously made offer was completely understandable. On the one hand, I understand the intention behind Jin-Woo's condition, as this should earn Jin-Ho the easiest recognition from his father. On the other hand, I wonder whether 6 other members who only serve as filler material for the group will always be easy to find and also if they can keep their mouths shut about it.

Just the little lecture from Jin-Ho's more than ambitious father in the car made it even clearer how difficult it would be to impress this man or even get his attention.

It seems that the secret quest would no longer be repeatable for Jin-Woo, at least at the moment, which makes him even luckier to have chosen the exact reward with the recipe for the Elixir of Life. In general, it's kind of surprising that his daily quests don't place greater demands on him, as neither 100 push-ups, sit-ups, squats, nor the 10km run are taxing him in any way. In the subsequent stat display, it was once again seen that Jin-Woo doesn't have a job yet, which leads me to question what significance such a job would have in this system and of course how it can be achieved.

From what I remember, the re-mentioned Jeju Island must have been shown to us in part in the first episode, even if only through Yoon-Ho and other S-Rank Hunters fighting those oversized ants, resulting in seemingly huge casualties. The red-headed guy is called humanity's ultimate weapon and yet they don't dare go back to this island? At this point I would like to know why even S-rank hunters are so hesitant to act.

The fact that all of the survivors of the double dungeon are now going on a joint mission again is more than striking. In my opinion this has absolutely nothing to do with coincidence, it was just agreed upon by someone for some reason, even though the reunion between Song, Joo-Hee and Jin-Woo was nice to witness. And now 3 prison inmates and a B-rank hunter are also supposed to take part in this mission, with the B-rank hunter serving as surveillance? I have a feeling this is related to the guy who previously asked someone in a suit for help killing several others, so most likely this dungeon group.

All in all, this was simply a build up episode for what awaits us next week.

those 3 convicts won't make it out of the dungeon alive or unscathed, especially if they try to pull a stunt on Jinwoo and his former party members while they were inside there. but that girl...it's great that she's braving it up and joining the raid instead of sitting it out like Jinwoo suggested, but i don't have much faith in her since she is still suffering from PTSD.

Getting a pretty slow episode after two weeks of waiting was rough ngl. It was nice to see Joo-Hee again tho. Surely there is nothing suspect with the upcoming mission given that it reunites the 5 survivors of the failed double dungeon mission and 3 blood thirsty convicts...

Hm, it's quite amazing at how stupid people are in this anime. Imagine being a team lead, then another company approaches you for a CTO position. Then you "immediately" turn them down on the spot and report it to your boss that someone tried to poach you. One has to wonder whether this idiocy, masked under the guise of "loyalty", is inspired from korean culture or whether it's just made up in the context of this world.

New dungeon incursion already seems fishy asf but of course no one suspects shit. These people can recognize MC at first glance despite him looking like a completely different person but can't see the notorious signs of this incursion being a potential trap. "Coincidence"? Are you for real?

Boring episode. Sudden infodump about the big guilds couldn't have been more awkward and the whole deal with the convicts joining the incursion to "pad the numbers" is just stupid writing. Given their first interaction upon introduction and the sudden focus on Joo-Hee, I can already guess where things will go next episode.

Exposition-heavy episode this time around, and although some of the scenes felt a bit slow, I appreciate this episode for the worldbuilding. it's a good build-up and will probably pay off in the long-run. The huge lack of worldbuilding is one of the big problems I had with the manhwa, so props to the staff for adding some much-needed anime-original content.

Yeah I don't think that Jinwoo being teamed up with the surviving party members from the first couple of episodes was a coincidence but I don't get what the purpose is other than maybe they want to gauge their abilities again or something. Also, those 3 prisoners will be trouble and while Jinwoo can handle them I'm not sure about the other party members, especially Joohee.

Even though this episode was a set-up type it went by pretty fast.
