| Eurobeat is really back with Yu Serizawa feat. MOTSU's OP, considering that MOTSU was once part of the legendary Initial D J-Pop Anisong group m.o.v.e. Kanata gives a try on Odawara Pikes Peak with Ogata's Toyota 86, which he's gaining an AI attention flag because Ogata's car, while weaker than the other European models. As a fact, the entire MFG event was concocted by Ryosuke Takahashi, founder of the Akagi RedSuns and Project D (of Initial D's 3rd Stage), knowing that Kanata was Takumi Fujiwara's student before. Kanata is falling behind in the course, but he's accurately pinpointed the course's ins and outs, which Shun doubts that Kanata will make it out alive. Especially in Sector 3, the course's death zone, Ren only now knows that Kanata's living for the excitement of racing. It's so deadly that even veterans will play safe, but Kanata's built different as Ogata and Shun watches in nervousness. It's really Deja Vu all over again as Kanata makes a splash imitating one of Takumi's skills from the AE86 Trueno, that how will he navigate the rest of the course? What a cliffhanger, is this always going to be the case for MF Ghost? |

| So glad we got to see him behind the wheel of that GT86, now. Kanata beats all expectations. Jungle Fire is the OP of the season. motsu's rap adds to the sense of nostalgia experienced by seeing this episode. As for the visuals, we can expect a Mercedes, another Porsche 911, an Alpine and another BMW to appear in this anime. 2:40 Ren's mother has an idea of what Mr. Rivington/Katagari was thinking, entering under that name. 3:52 It's almost as if the organisers were expecting a Kanata to use that number... 6:00 As Kanata unbelievably climbs the placing, Ogata flashes back to explaining the Grip-Weight ratio rule to Kanata, which he has now figured out. Did Takahashi deliberately impose this regulation to find racers who think that way? 8:18 The Eurobeat is kicking in! Red Light and Sex by Mega NRG Man 8:55 Fumihiro calls the White Comet of Akagi himself! He's committed to medicine since the end of Project D. Yep, it was deliberate, and the one to figure it out was Fujiwara's student, no less. 17:44 Keisuke used his FD to do the demo runs? 19:37 Break Out Fire; we've been blessed by two Mega NRG Man songs this episode 21:29 THE PANDA TRUENO!!!! | That was way too much hype. Kanata is Takumi's student? Yo! We even got to see Ryuosuke who's behind the MFG in the first place, I should have known. Also the yellow car from the demo video, was that Keisuke? Kanata's racing gave me chills and reminded me of Takumi. Specially that four wheel drift at the end there, damn. Need the next episode right now, can't wait to see the result. So hyped. Loving this so far. |

| the cameos and mentions made me happier than i thought they would. felt so happy to see ryosuke and fumihiro. and i didn't think katagiri was takumi's student. that explains his driving style and daring to drive in thick fog. great great episode overall. looking forward to next one. |

MFG is the new generation after Initial D, episode 2 was so satisfying, they even made direct reference to previous characters, and the Toyota Trueno (AE86), AKA Tofu Car 😆 Also satisfying in the way how the race chase scenes were just like back then with Initial D 😎 |

| So much hype man. Even though I didn’t watch initial D back in the day, I’m having a lot of fun with this series as a racing fan. The Eurobeat and 90s style OST takes me back to the good old days. Those drift turns in the mountains are no joke and Kanata is knocking them out easily in his first race. Going thru a low visibility segment like that was incredible. Between this and Overtake! On Sundays we are eating good. Can’t wait for the next ep. |

| Oh I am going to miss the head to head races of initial d, you can't even go close to that kind of tension in time attack unless you're using a ghost depiction like video games have. The preview of ep 3 did have a ghost of that alfa romeo 4c so let's see how that turns out. |

| I wanted to like this show but I find the whole premise of no other cars in the world pretty silly, and just basically a Toyota car ad. I was 18 ish and buying my first car when the first initial D came out. There was just something so relatable about it. You bought a older car as that's all you could afford, but your friends also had cars and you needed to puff up your ego by going a little bit faster then them. There was just something that felt so real about initial d. But I know a lot of young people these days don't have cars and their only experience with them is playing games like Gran Turismo. So making a "video game" world maybe allows them to relate to a show like this? In this episode it was clear to me that they were name bombing as much as they could to try to give it some credibility. As a racing only show it might be a good watch, but as a successor to initial d it doesn't feel right to me. |

| Who farted? Oh wait, the stench comes from the writting. The beauty of Initial D were the rather short races lasting one episode (unless it was a heated rival race). That along watching Takumi do some new crazy stunt on every new race and using old tricks in the really big races. In here it's mostly long boring straights heavily padded by worthless infodump by Kanata's hype men (we really didn't need to be reminded he was abandoned by his father by Kanata's hosts) plus Ogata and the senpai add nothing of value other than making huge gasps at Kanata's pro moves. Yeah I know Initial D also had hype men, but their input was far more spread apart and they didn't take that much time to hinder the thrill of the races. There's also the point of having potholes and bad concrete patches on the track, what kind of profesional event would have those kinds of hazards when were talking about exotic supercars blazing thru this humongous city at ridiculous speeds. Might as well have named this kind of race something among the lines of WRC. Then there's Ryosuke. You're going to sell me the idea that he changed his whole career as a strategist and pro racer to become a surgeon? A career that takes several years of training and expertise just to be able to be a helper at any kind of surgery. Good lord, I hope by episode 3 the anime staff makes some huge plottwist in order to keep me entertained, otherwise that will probably be my drop point. |

race CG quality seems like a step down from past series, that's a shame. It still looks pretty good though.
But holy shit I can forgive everything since that was the feeling I've been looking forward to since a very long time. The eurobeat, the courses, the drift, even the AE86 cameo is sending me to heaven. We are so fucking back.

| Loved the OP, nice to see M.O.V.E is still alive in spirt thanks to Motsu. Yea I feel like even though the first seasons of Initial D used PS1 quality CG, the driving/racing felt more fluid overall compared to MF Ghost so far but I might be misremembering. It's not too distracting once you get used to it. Though that part around 14:34 when he picked up the pace after being told that there were 26 cars ahead of him looked awful due to how choppy it was. Felt like a slide show lol.  |

| that is easily the opening of the season, yuu serizawa fuckin killed and i've been listening to jungle fire on spotify this whole week. eurobeat is unmatched and the race was undoubtedly hype. my boi ryosuke!!! we didn't get to see his face but hearing takehito koyasu's voice was all that was needed. kanata got shades of takumi due to being his student and the AE86 flashback hit so hard. i like how the new car also has the 86 number. noticed the animation style for the cars look more similar to the new initial D legends movies, instead of the actual show. solid episode, i'm definitely liking this adaptation more than the manga so far and this episode was better than the first for sure. now on to the next racing anime for the day lol, overtake. Kimurah said: street racing was not his career, just a side gig which he even planned to retire early from. and we already learned in 5th stage that he was a medical student. pay attention, your ignorance is laughable.You're going to sell me the idea that he changed his whole career as a strategist and pro racer to become a surgeon?
