WOOF, Masayoshi Ooishi has CLASS performing the OP, back to his usual style! Along witb Akari Kitou's ED, this is a OST I can vibe with.

In many ways, mangaka Hatsuharu's series (of which this is the authror's latest work) is like Summer 2022's Kumichou Musume to Sewagakari a.k.a The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting, tit for tat, but in the shape of Usagi Drop if it was made nan adult version. Plus, the age-gap trait...which some will love, and many others will hate.

Isaku Senagaki is the granddaughter of a Yakuza boss, and her personal caretaker is 26-year-old Keiya Uto, But Isaki as so much planned out for her, being a high school girl who is ready for things like the typical love and romance. But the surprise is that Keiya also disguised his way through the school by acting like an older Ikemen through her grandfather's permission and the usual bribing. The thing, is, much of Isaki's life has been maligned simply due to the fact that she belonged to a Yakuza family, but this high school life of hers is bound to be different. Keiya's role being to protect her from unassuming boys who want to have a go at her, he can be a weird one at times. But volunteering to become class reps, it's a tough role from the get-go, and Keiya knows all of the formalities to form the class together....a crazy good actor when he's one.

Even as circumstances brandish Isaki, Keiya takes into regard of her, as she practices in volleyball as participation in sports day. The comedy gag of a fellow Yakuza hitting Isaki with the ball, that was a good one that got me LMAOing. But otherwise, Isaki is slowly growing herself, but while she did injure herself a fair bit, her intuition to use her foot at the moment was nothing short of genius. Keiya tending to her injuries, he's just too innocent for Isaki to get more attached to him.

The Shoujo-ish school romance between a normal high school girl and her late 20s-ish guard dog, this will be quite the riot.

Older possessive guy who does not leave your side by any chance, who barks at any other dude in the vicinity ... yeah, shoujo in its purest form. Also, you know, that dead fish look the main guy has, does not add any less on him not looking like a creep, like at all, lol.

The flashbacks from when the main girl was little are very melancholic. But kinda lost that feeling the moment the dude's on the screen. It also has lot more comedy that i was expecting.

And so we start the controversial anime, Ojou to Banken-kun.

Isaku never chose to be the daughter of a yakuza boss. When her parents tragically passed away in a car accident when she was just five years old, her gangster grandfather stepped in, taking her under his wing and raising her within the clan. Throughout her school years, Isaku was shunned by her peers due to her family's criminal connections. Now, as she prepares to enter high school, she yearns for a chance at a normal life, and perhaps even the possibility of finding love. However, her devoted guardian and unwavering family servant, 26-year-old Keiya, also enrolls in high school alongside her, pledging to shield her from any threats. Suddenly, Isaku finds herself contending with a gun-toting, chain-smoking protector in her midst, all while trying to navigate the challenges of high school life. That's the setup for Ojou to Banken-kun.

Setting aside the age gap, which is admittedly quite peculiar and unsettling, the storyline itself is rather endearing, despite the fact that he essentially took on the role of raising her and became her primary caregiver. I recall reading the initial sixteen chapters or so, and had it not been for these two aspects, it would have been an enjoyable experience for me. However, due to the significant age difference and the persistent portrayal of him as a parental or brotherly figure in her life, it left me feeling rather uneasy, ultimately leading me to discontinue it. Nevertheless, there's a possibility that the anime adaptation might rekindle my appreciation for the series. The premiere was quite compelling, so I'll continue watching for the time being. Also nice Michael Jordan reference lol.

While a ten-year age gap is pretty unsettling to most, there are some pretty cute moments here and there. So for now, just enjoy the story I guess.

Ah yes, the obligatory seasonal that upsets tourists on anitwt. Been looking forward to this one ever since the trailer dropped. For those that can separate reality from fantasy, it’s gonna be a good watch. Really liked this first episode. The art, animation and voice acting are all really nice.

As for the story itself, controversial theme and toxic relationship aside, it looks pretty funny and sweet. Project no.9 know how to handle these slice of life stories as well as anyone in the business so I’m gonna let them cook.

The chemistry between the two leads is cute. The comedy works as well which is always a plus in these SoL shows. Dude enrolling in high school as a 26 year old to “protect” isaku while scaring all the boys away from her had me dying. I’ve seen some ridiculous premises, but this is one of the funniest.

The biggest challenge for this story is going to be how the characters develop. Is buddy gonna realise he’s being toxic and evolve over time or is it going to stay repetitive throughout. Either way, I’m gonna watch it and enjoy it 😂 I’ll just enjoy it more if there’s actual reasoning behind the behaviour and some progression.

I’m looking forward to some solid romance man idc. It’s just drawings. It’s not real.

Something seems off about Isaku's face...idk, they made her look so vulnerable, even in the OP song.

Well, at least the anime is honest with itself and we do get some storytelling about the main girl. One thing I will say is tha they picked a solid VA lineup for this. Keiya also seems like a tough guy but he treats Isaku like a kid sometimes by the looks of it. The episode threw in a mix of cartoony moments so it was hard to take the show seriously at times.

Got mixed feelings on this. Maybe it can improve? We'll see.

@Marinate1016 it's pretty pathetic when the majority of someone's time is spent looking for reasons to be upset lol. Luckily tourists are like locusts they'll get bored if this soon enough and move on to the next thing to cry about

Simple shoujo romance setting but I like the main cast, they seem amusing. Liked their interactions and they are both voiced by two of my fav seiyuus so that just adds to it. Btw aside the fmc other characters designs looks off a bit? Anyway liked the premiere and looking forward to more.

Oh, I like this already. Two charismatic leads with good chemistry. Even showing some vulnerability at the end, he admitting that the felt lonely is exactly what I want in romance.
Only the slap stick humor is kinda meh, but I guess its a staple in anime. And at least it fits his overprotective personality.

I hope not every interaction with other boys will play out the exact same...

Yakuza Guide to Babysitting Adult Version 😛

Maybe it's sequel is this show then it's messed up☠️

Jokes aside, an average Shoujo setting, decent characters laid out, quite laid back vibes, not quite sold on the romance setting. Not expecting much.

Also him getting inside class and no guy questioning his maturity is lol. FMC is cute. MC seems nice.

I don't like the name of the show though. Maybe has some meaning to it but doesn't make sense. He is basically a parent to her and mentioned as Dog? Weird.

Expecting a light ride and a 6/10 to balance out the season stacked with heavy hitters. Filler show.

Nothing in this episode really gripped me. Just looks like another slice of life high school anime with a very minor "look a yakuza" twist. Might give it one more episode but it's kinda boring for me ngl.

All the controversy and antis and all of that... I'm just ignoring them. I don't care about their opinion because their opinion frankly doesn't matter. =P. Get ignored. Get rekt <3.

This was extremely awkward to watch. Not just the age gap, but the dialogue and pacing feel really off-putting. I'm used to watching shoujo anime but it felt like a slugfest watching through episode 1.

Also, the act is very inconsistent. Sometimes it looks amazing, other times it is god awful.

I actually kind of find it difficult how a girl would fall for a guy who couldn't even act, much less talk like a normal person. And he's supposed to be 26.

Age gap aside, someone should teach this guy how to talk with kids who are almost ten years younger than him... especially to boys.

It's my opinion but I don't see anything wrong in loving the person who raised you. He is not your real father or brother so there shouldn't be any problem in falling in love with him.
I don't know why these controversies exist in first place. I believe that it will be a good anime.

I'm not one to complain about age gap romance rather i welcome them with an open mind but my god this episode was so awkward to watch 🥴

26 year old guy becomes high schooler! is possessive and gets physical . Hell nah even if it's just drawing and not real there is a limit no wonder people called this guy a groomer before the adaptation . I'll give it few more eps to see if he changes or still acts the same

The way everyone kept talking about this anime made me expect tons of groping or sexual advances or something from him to her but there was none of that he was actually sweet?? Though hey it's just the first episode so who knows what's gonna happen next lol. She even admitted she has feelings for him but first episode he only did act just like a protective guardian. The age gap is odd though, if she was just a few years older or him a few years younger it'd be less weird.😩 Oh well, first episode was pleasant enough for me lol.

Thought the art and animation was pretty bland. Would have liked to see better development from Isaku and her making friends normally instead of randoms seeing how hard she worked at Volleyball. Felt like her story was overshadowed by Keiya and his impact on the classroom immediately.

She's gonna make friends obviously but I'm intrigued how we get there.

story aside, my feelings
1. the pacing feels weird, the delivery of some dialogue it's kinda boring? bland?
2. also, why is it so.... white???? not only their skin, the colors have like zero contrast it's so hard to see my eyes hurt at the end of the ep 🥲
3. their 〰️ mouth bothers me more than i thought (I'm a manga reader 😭)

what i liked is that fml doesn't have that annoying high-pitched voice that i was expecting, i really like fml she is SO IN THE WRONG ANIME SOMEONE ISEKAI HER PLEASE IN A BEAUTIFUL AGE APPROPRIATE NON GROOMING SHOUJO ROMANCE
such a waste of a really pretty shoujo girly
also the ending is gorgeous!

already know how controversial the premise itself is but i can overlook the age gap problem, the mc's crappy personality is the real problem. will stick around to see how many chapters this adapts.

This is gonna be a bit... uncomfy to watch, not just because of the age gap situation but... a 26yr. yakuza man being in a class full of teens.
If I understood correctly, Keiya is 26 and Isaku being in HS, I'd assume she's 14-16? Which makes the age gap around 10-12, I guess?

I'm gonna have to compare this Anime to My Love Story with Yanada at Lv999. A Girl & Her Guard Dog seems to be trying a similar formula that 'Yamada999' took when it comes to the mixture of Shojo and Comedy, except this Anime's comical chibi/cartoonish bits tend to feel out of place and results in it feeling like an interruption rather than adding anything to the mood. While 'Yamada999' had its own style of chibi scenes that blended well with the overall ambiance of the show.

The comical bits are quite fun though, to be fair. But the inner monologue and some introspection of the female MC are the most interesting for me, so far.

Finally the worst story of this just got an anime adaptation.

Note: Sorry for bad english, I tried my best and This is just my opinion.

Review:
Well, this anime might be uncomfortable to watch since the Age-Gap between the Hero and Heroine.
Yes, It has a Rom-com title BUT don't expect they end-up together, Base on how many time Long-Age-Gap Anime I've watched, they usually don't end up together in the end, They just remains the current relationship as it was.
EXAMPLE:
17 Years old Girl fall in love with the manager in her PartTime Restaurant and her manager was a 30's guy. In the first the episode makes you guys think somehow they end up together because seeing the heroine tried to get her attention to the 30's guy she loved, It seems cute at the start, However as long the episode goes It gets very uncomfortable to watch of how the anime reminds us that the Long-Age-Gap Setting makes the Ship Broke Apart. And as expected THEY DIDN'T end up together in the last of the series but instead remains as the current Relationship.
Like (Stay as a friend/acting family)
and the 30's guy tried to make the Heroine give up on him and give an advice to the Heroine to find that she really love (with the safe Age Gap of course).

So for Art: Pretty basic, Nothing Special
Some of people might say the graphic was just like an "H" anime because the design of the art just like a TaleStory and Goofy Atmosphere. 🤣
and the Character design was dissapointing somehow...
I thought it would be more fresh but just No...

The Intro/Ending: Was a good one to hear out.
(Guess, That's the only one I appreciate 🤣)

In the end:
The worst manga story just got an adaptation.
I don't recommend wasting your time here.

So for people who had no problems with this, Sure just give it a try but DON'T get your high-hopes.
The story wasn't interesting as you think afterall.

That's it, and Have a Great Day!

Kirishima from kumichou musume is more enjoyable to watch than the male characters here. I'm honestly really embarrassed to see keiya, and then the interactions between the characters is too cringe. Man I wish I could stick around watching this, the plot is really good and I really like it. But the character is too fucking weird.
