Not a bad idea to get a map for their plans.

Well, they made it to the ruins and Vamiro immediately began taking care of business. This episode turned out to be much more serious than I had expected. Even Helck realizes the stakes along with his partner.

Damn, even Helck gets hit?

As we saw last episode, having triumphed in the cooking competition featuring extraordinary chefs, Helck, Vermilio, and Piwi used the prize money to acquire a map leading to the Empire. They set their sights on the Two Ruined Nations to the northwest. On the other hand, upon hearing this, the mapmaker warned them that encountering the "Warrior of the Darkness" would likely result in not returning alive, advising them to take a detour if they valued their lives. With time running short, Helck and his group headed straight for the two ruined nations. However, as they walked through the weathered streets, an eerie presence began to close in from behind.

It appears that the dark warrior's reputation isn't just exaggerated rumors, considering how she perceives his power as highly dangerous. Additionally, the dark warrior possesses impressive sword-regeneration abilities. As well in this episode, Helck's bloodlust appears to stem from his determination to protect someone. So, the lesson here is: avoid getting on his bad side. Could he truly be the calamitous force the witch spoke of? I pray that's not the case. I love him. Though after gaining more insight into the dark warrior, it did make me emphasize for him. The farewell is quite emotional. Sadly, I don't believe he will return.

Their journey is going quite well so far. Too well. I assume something terrible will occur soon.

Damn man a very somber episode. Think that’s the first time we’ve ever seen Helck legitimately struggle in a fight, get gravely injured and become genuinely angry. Shows you how powerful the darkness hex is. Tough battle, but in the end Helck and Vermirio were able to prevail and get a new weapon that will surely help with the trials to come.

Augis and Iris’ story is very tragic. Sucks that they didn’t get to spend more time together because of the war. The world outside of the Empire seems to be full of tragedy and suffering. This journey Helck and Vermirio are on is extremely eye opening for both of them. I like side quests like these as they really help develop characters.

Excited to see the journey continue next week

Was good to see a tip of Helck true power.

Sure Helck and Vamirio hold Augis off, but Piwi was the hero.

Just a sword with a little curse as reward.

This might be my anime of the season but it's a close fight with Mononogatari. Both are terrific.

Edit: Really love how An-chan was jealous? Piwi called the other girl chan as well :D Glad to see her engaging more with the characters. Funny ending tho :D

Augis also felt like a mix between Artorias and the knights in Elden ring that always teleport behind you

"Even if it has good reviews, if I don't like it then it is shit"

Man, the good parts of the series are just starting but the animation has been extremely disappointing for what was supposed to be an extremely hype battle, I mean Augis is supposed to be one of the strongest characters in the entire series but the only thing the animation nailed decently was the teleport

Dang, Dark Helck is way more serious than I expected. And knowing nothing about any source material I suspect the show may end up being a really dark story hidden under a facade of a comedy/parody show...

I wish the animation would have been a bit better but that was a hype episode, the way the black knight appeared using that teleportation had KHII FM 2 Secret Ending vibes which I love and Helck losing composure was super cool, Piwi ended up being the hero of that battle.

Great episode, it had a good mix of action, drama, and comedy. That dark warrior may have been the most powerful being that the duo has faced so far, I mean Helck not only got injured but he briefly went berserk where Anne (from Management) had to tell him to stop.

With Anne remembering what the witch from the island told her, plus Helck's brief berserk moment, I wouldn't be surprised if Anne feels some unease around Helck although I think that she mostly trusts him for now.

Am I supposed to be impressed? The whole story of two kingdoms devasted because of a war (with nothing to prove what were the reasons for it) and a sole cursed survivor that coincidentally is related to the only grill that's been kind to our protags. This is one among the many writing problems this show has, it skips a lot of detail and characterization on these "weekly" mobs that met up our heroes and get saved once again.

Kinda reminds me of kid Goku's adventures where he saved people from their misery week to week. But the huge difference is that OG Dragon Ball knew how to be funny, knew when it was ok to extend these villagers stories long enough and also had pretty good action animation, nothing this joke of a show has, yet it gets complimented by the scarce audience inhaling on copium.

We get to see more, Helck's dark side, I can't wait to see more of his side. Didn't realize this one is going to be 24 Episodes long. I should pick-up reading the manga.

Every episode felt so fast, I keep longing for more.
Why do we have to live in such a cruel world?

Was that supposed to be Helcks darkside or Helck getting serious?

Maybe the shadow energy stuff is the same as that which causes hero awakenings. With how Helck reacts to it.

Good thing she stayed during the fight even though she said she was running away. Otherwise they would have to animate things she's narrating. Shoosh. Close one there animators. Imagine having to animate sinister feeling of great power. This way they can just sit still while she tells us the opponent is powerful. Good thing story will pick up around episode 20 or so, according to some people, where this show will become 10/10 if we ignore first 20 episodes.

@Dignity and they made sure to reuse those animations as much as possible. Animation is in my eyes non-existent. Take for example the moment when Helck got cut on his face. That wasn't even a sword swing, it was two frames. Not even a trace of sword going by. So dreadful.

Iris advises Piwi, Vermilio and Helck on the tough terrainous journey back to the continent, and this is just the start. With the Warrior of Darkness, they can't afford to blink an eye on its attacks, and Helck knows that this fight will be tougher than usual. Even with Anne on assistance, it feels like their enemy didn't even get damaged a teeny bit, and to make matters worse, the unpredictable shadows armed with power forces them both to think outside of the box to figure out the spell. But Helck depends on his fists to do the talking, and Vermilio is reminded of what was told to her as Helck bashes away at the Warrior of Darkness...and surprisingly, Piwi's chirping escalated the situation.

With it damaged and not regenerating, Helck, Vermilio and Piwi stalked it to a run-down mansion, and the Warrior begins to open up and speak about the ravages of the war on how he became that to save his own people. With his form finally free from the hex of darkness, the Warrior hands Helck his cursed sword, and as both an apology and thanks, he demands a song...that only Iris can sing, and the Warrior turns out to be his older brother Augis who saved her life. A reunion that came too late to save what remains of her sibling who saved her when she was a child.

Onto the next town, and just like the last, it's in ruins, and both Piwi and Helck engage in a race, though Vermilio naturally joins in as well. And yelp, be careful when you wander into unknown territory, or you'll be monster food!

I wish cheap trashsekai would also get less anime adaptations and thus not waste precious manpower resources.

Claiming that we're getting a dollar store adaptation from a questionable trash mango isn't any better in any way.

Everything about Augis' first appearance screamed maximum edgelord right down to having an ability that's literally "teleports behind you nothin personnel kid", and behind it all he was a noble and tragic dude all along.

Helck really is the embodiment of fearing the anger of a gentle man.

That was a good fight there. Didnt think id at this point see Helck get injured that badly. Though what the heck did he do to heal himself? Just squeeze his muscles to seal the wound?

That was a pretty tragic tale of Augis. At least Iris was there for him in his last moments to let him know it wasnt all in vain. What he said though when he was looking at Helck did he mean Helck has some sort of hex on him that makes him so strong?

Hated Piwi originally but he's grown on me for being a funny little weirdo.
