Since Eiko knows what Yayoi is up to, why did she change the subject when Yayoi started asking Keitaro for his nails? I assume she would have had some idea what the nail clippings are for. It makes me wonder if she's trying to keep Keitaro reliant on her.

Since Eiko has a curse on her too I wonder why no mention of her being exorcised? Unless she just didn't want to talk about it with Yayoi.
That just came off to me like her knowing how he is (his personality/demeanor) and sensing he was uncomfortable and about to freak out, so changing the subject so as to avoid him leaving or them arguing. So far, at least outwardly, she has seemed to be the one to try and play the role of the peacemaker between Keitarou and Yayoi and try to smooth over interactions and conversations between them. Maybe she just doesn't want him to quit as her tutor and stop coming by the house.

I'm liking this series more and more and this episode was great. I like the explanations on why Yayoi is collecting spirits which is to fight stronger ones and to build an army to eventually rescue her mom, and why she needs Keitaro's nails which is to protect him.

However, there are questions that are so far unanswered such as how Eiko was easily able to find Keitaro, if her curse is the same as Keitaro's, and if she needs the same or similar types of treatments.

I'm thinking that maybe after Keitaro's curse gets cured (assuming it does) then the group will try to cure Eiko's curse.

I think this show may have lost me in episode 2 when the narrator exposition dumped that Yayoi wants to kill the spirit who “took” her parents. That was a big red flag to me that broke the rule of show don’t tell.

I’ll maybe give another episode or two to see if I’m really liking where things go

That's why the spirit fear Yayoi, she has an army guarding her out.
Also Eiko's curse somehow seems worse than Keitaro. Like she has those empty eyes sometimes like she's being possessed. I thought it was a quirk to make me pay attention like "I'am being serious" but it might be much more?

Yeah that also works. I did get that feeling at initial observation but started thinking other things later since it fits with other things like her knowing where he was, that it somehow was a coincidence Yayoi was the student he'd be teaching has me wondering if she set it up somehow, how she said previously Keitaro actually loves being scared, and how she seemingly knew exactly where he was located when she needed his help despite no mention of where he was going. Sure they are friends but it seems like she has some other type of attachment going on whether it's positive emotions or negative but yes also could just be Eiko trying to have him around for Yayoi's sake.

this episode was actually quite nice, not judging by the horror part though but based on the overall plot it was quite informative and it seems like we have established a goal and reason to pursue it in this episode. the reason behind spirits in her room is also given now.

the only decent episode till now. even though first half felt cheap.

i don't understand why the spirits were atacking them though. i thought the spirits would be nice as according to the backstory the goddess is a protector and stuff. weird.

Yayoi mentions that the inability for the unborn babies to rest in peace might've made the goddess evil. Also, Yayoi has destroyed several jizo statues, and from what I understand (feel free to correct me) jizo are guardians of children. I can't imagine the goddesss being happy about that.

Finally a full explanation of what Yayoi plans to do with those spirits, this episode was pretty good, but once again Eiko being suspicious with how she found Keitaro and simply brushed it off.

Loving this creepy series so far. Yayoi wholesomeness somehow coexists with her cold blooded nature to reach her goals, usually such a contrast seems forced but the author has written her well.

Off topic, but the people who were theorizing that Eiko was cursed as well were right on the money. It did seem odd how she always covered her hands constantly so I subscribed to that theory as well. I wish they waited a little longer to reveal it though, in perhaps a more dramatic scene. but that doesn't matter much now

My theory is that she can simply sense where he is as they share the same curse.

Yayoi-chan hunting alone. She’s seems so powerful but she definitely needs help.

The subs have me questioning watching it.

There have been a ton of questionable translations that even I could tell what was being said wasn't what was being written in subs. Was actually coming in here to ask if anyone knows if the TLs have improved or not. Was hoping to see if a Fansub group picked it up before I continued watching.

I don’t know, this one just doesn’t seem engaging. For a horror show it’s a bit too dull. May be some later twists would change this. Eiko being the mastermind behind mc’s suffering would be fun, but I almost sure it’s not the case.

In the end I just hope it won’t fall in to a monster of the week territory.

Even with the substitute system in place, Yayoi faces danger. The system can only protect her from spiritual harm, not physical damage. In a particular episode, there's a risk that infant ghosts might topple the Zijo statue before Yayoi can prevent it using a crowbar. If that happens, her legs could be crushed, and she would exhaust all her substitutes, making her vulnerable to the ghosts, possibly leading to her demise.

Yayoi is more than twisted, she's insane for the occult, wanting Keitaro's nails.

Speechless for words, Keitaro would've offered not to affiliate himself with Eiko even more, but he owes a debt of gratitude to her to stay on. That said, Yayoi wanting his nails, and the same tropes play out once again, though Keitaro seemingly has enough of the supernatural and Eiko is just following her whims. With that, the childhood friend and the cousin go on their own to an abandoned temple where jizo statues are dedicated to miscarriaged children and the lost who have been eaten by the goddess Kishimojin who've devoured children, and Yayoi goes in alone to debunk the curse.

It's been an hour, and while Eiko makes her escape, Yayoi has been fighting an illusion, and she prepares her defenses for this purpose. Eiko going to get Keitaro's help, explaining that she is trying to relieve his curse. Using a spirit as a decoy, Yayoi is being chased around by cursed spirits that snag decoys one after the other, leaving her back in the abandoned temple. The spirits chase Keitaro instead, and with his stamina, chases the cursed spirits down to save Yayoi, which expenses costs out from him from none of Eiko's road insurance and Yayoi's health insurance. Yayoi confesses her true feelngs to Keitaro about saving others from the fact that she lost her mother, and he trusts her to bring him back to her room to explain the plushies that will help disperse the attacks from her to the plushies. In matter, this is an all-around defense system that works amicably with the nails, and everything works in tandem with it.

Yayoi's collection of spirits is not for nothing, and her room full of plushies that fight for justice against spirits that work against them, this is the meaning of the show's title: the Dark Gathering of scary spirits that work to knock out the bad ones. Interesting...

Perhaps a spirit's form can be self-realized or realized by another, more powerful being (the goddess, in this case). Indeed, it seems that the goddess can project her will as a spirit with a form. And maybe the same concept is what allowed those illusions to exist.

Kinda brilliant how Yayoi came up with that plan for someone her age. I wonder why she couldn't have explained it to Keitaro when she was trying to clip his nails. Also it looks like Eiko can always find Keitaro, which is honestly kinda creepy. Hope the show does a deep dive into that. Thought the scene where Keitaro is carrying Yayoi on his back really beautiful with the sun in the background.

Eiko is clearly a stalker. Like how she would know about Keitaro's location that fast. Feels like she is obsessive or possessive of him. Definitely a Yandere. Her vague look at the end is something like somekind of infatuation of him.

If Eiko was cursed the same time as Kei, why has Yayoi not tried to remove the curse yet, I mean that is her best friend/family right and they lived together for a year, something seems off still...

This was a good episode, we got introduced to more of the abilities of these spirits, such as creating illusions and well curses. Paper dolls being used as protection, and also the fact that if you take down the spirit that cursed you, the curse is lifted.

I also find it quite interesting that she is collecting spirits and training them for battle, strange but smart.

Is Eiko's curse some kind of GPS tracker? I was a little creeped out when she was able to find Keitarou and the way she tried not to answer his question. It seems like she has an obsession over MC for some reason

Heh facing the stained goddess entity already? Interesting to heard the story of those goddess of children which kinda sad by how she turned out as a savage evil spirit. But oh well, without that story, Yayoi can't find a reason to be the more savage kid! But before that, Yayoi is a truly sweet child with such a clever thought on her head by that proxy shit or whatever. And she even not mature, yet, ehem...

The plan is kinda simple, gathered the army of nasty spirits and slay the more powerful slay spirits with them army. But its been curious to me by how she find the spirit who's taken out her mom spirit. Keitaro usage as radar for her? Before that, its also interesting to know what kind of spirit who cursed Keitaro and Eiko with that nasty result? Good to know too that Keitaro took his grandma advice to the heart, and solified his heart already helping sweet child Yayoi with her curiosity over the creepy shit.

Wish you all get a good luck hunt the evil deed spirits!

Yayoi made it known why she is keeping such a seemingly dangerous amount of spirits around. Her mom was captured by a stronger spirit so her collection/army of lesser spirits to battle is feasible. For the story, you'd want her to get her mom back and then solve the curses, but Keitarou probably just wants to be free. We'll see how this plays out.

Yayoi is clever with these dolls, but she shouldn't go by herself fight the spirits...it's reassuring to see how she's willing to help Keitarou to clean his curse but now I'm curious to see what kind of spirits they'll be able to catch

I had to watch that end section twice to try to understand how finger nails are super important. Her...spirit is in them? Or something. Super confusing.

You can kill spirits, but they can't attack her because...they would be attacking themselves? Or something. Man, guess I'll just have to watch more episodes.
