Tokio might get pregnant? Feels like the AI or whatever that thing is (the creature that the director of the facility called "Mina" in one of the previous episodes) has it's own goals. Again it seemed like the surveillance cams have been manipulated. So the Tokio sneaking ot that other guy did not get noticed. Looking forward to the later events once the scientist reveals that he knows that Tokio was in that room with the "babies". That surely was not panned by the AI.

The bear part was tense but they indeed need to be aware for anything because no one is truly trustful in this post-apocalyptic world... lol at the hotel scene though that was quite the misunderstanding for Maru... meanwhile Tokio's part with the nightmare is interesting but I feel like bad things are going to happen soon for her... it would definitely make sense that the facility part takes place in the past and that Tokio and Kona and up being Maru's parents indeed.

Another mediocre episode, I don't know if this show tries to be comedy, mystery or drama but it fails to be concise at any of them, I can't take it seriously for most of the parts neither does make me laugh, anyways 4.5/10.
Yeah man it struggling with an identity crisis atm. All the sexual scenes seem forced and I’m not a fan of sexualising minors
just know that some of the scenes are actually important to the story so forced or not they have to happen, also kids learn/know about sexual related things or activities at very young ages especially in today's society so just get over it

No, he's almost opposite of Denji. And it wasn't his choice - Kiruko promised him herself, and he just reminded her of that. So...

HAHAHA his horny power charged the battery xD I think Denji from CSM and Maru would be good friends xD

Also gotta love the fact that our protagonists are more afraid of a normal wild animal than the Hiruko xD

But I think we should let Kiruko do the naming, Fatal Dive sounds way worse than Maru Touch xD

As for Totori, why did she have to ruin the moment between Maru and Kiruko??? At least Maru still got his reward in the end... even if it was from a different girl

I did feel slightly bad for Totori tho when they said goodbye to her :(

It has become a ritual to watch this anime on Sundays along with One Piece. The art in this episode was different from the episodes before, it was more expressive than the art in the previous episodes.

The scene after the ending song showed that Tokio's a girl, and someone is manipulating the CCTV footage to look like Tokio never left the room.
“There are only two types of people in the world--those who became otaku and those who didn't--and the latter just can't understand what the former is so excited about."--Ono Norihiro

Why didn't I noticed this before!
In the previous episode when Tokio puked I just assumed that it was because of the shock of Tarao's death, that it was fear and paranoia of also getting sick, but actually it's probably because her and Kona were already having sexo. There's a real possibility that Tokio is pregnant, and if that's the case then this part of the story really happens in the past and she is Maru's mother.

In the same place where I "discovered" the detail above I see someone commenting how maybe Asura was working with the AI/Security System to specifically protect Tokio and get her together with Kona, with the specifically purpose to make her pregnant. Or something like that.
I think parts of this theory may be close to the truth, where I disagree is that Tokio is somehow essencial to this plan/goal.
Remember. Remember that nude photo of Mimihime that Shiro received? Maybe they're trying to make any of the kids to reproduce. Didn't worked with Shiro and Mimihime, it's working with Tokio and Kona.
Maybe that's also why those two girls were kissing. The adults questioned where the who "learned to do that?", maybe they were taught to influence the other kids.

OMG I assumed the same thing about the puking at first, never would have thought of the possibility of Tokio being pregnant tho. If it weren't for the after credit scene, I would have kept believing Tokio was a guy. I was actually under the impression for a while that Maru and Tokio might be the same person and that what we see in the facility happened in the past but Maru just cannot remember it anymore. Well I guess with this episode that theory of mine goes out the window now xD

Did some people really not think Tokio was a girl? I mean we literally heard that apparently there is a girl that looks identical to Maru in heaven… who else would that be?

No one ever said it was a girl. Just "someone."

The very beginning of the story goes out of its way to say that Maru just has a girly face, which is meant to make the audience think the same is probably true of Tokio. It definitely was something the author wanted to keep ambiguous until the reveal.
I still interpreted having a girly face as meaning that it's because he shares the face with this other girl. Her voice also sounds like a girl's. I don't understand how this was some kind of reveal lmfao

She thought it was a monster, so she wanted to disable it for maru to finish... But yeah, seems a little weird. Even in the manga, where it wasn't so close, I wondered why she didn't just blast it...

Her weapon is short range, like 10 meters. Maybe the bear was just too far yet too close to Maru to wait.

Damn, the school segment just keeps getting hornier, not that the survival setting wasn’t in this episode, but it’s a scary thought that Maru could kill a human just as easily as he does a Man-Eater, it does help me build some new theories regarding him though.

Hmmm, I wonder why the maru touch worked on hotel girl, maybe she also has a supernatural power, or maybe it simply works on every human and Maru just hasn't realized till now, which would be kinda weird tho.

Also, Tokio is a girl, what? I mean her face does look feminine, but it's the same for Maru and (as far as I know) he's a boy.
I was actually fine with them being a gay couple, thought it might be interesting, but it is what it is

Are we, really?
That "nosebleed" is still a bit suspicious. Going by the context from the past scene it's natural to think that the boy's nose bled because he was excited thinking about the girl she he saw nude. But now that we know that all these kids have their own "powers" and they don't seem to follow logic and reason, what if the boy's nose bled because of the power of the boy who fell?

Actually, this episode was super sneaky, seemingly being all comic relief, tits and ass, but silently dropping an a-bomb grade puzzle piece regarding story progression and stuff (it's just what this show is good at, like, really good).

Watching an anime like this one and seeing people commenting "not much happened in the story" feels disappointing, isn't it @Dickgrobe?
Even the scenes people are claiming to be fanservice and needlessly sexualising minors are full of little information, but this is a type of storytelling that don't explains itself for you, you have to think for yourself.

Im not so sure what's going on in this show is trying to go down a story like The Blue Lagoon because I get the impression the focus on all this romance and sexual stuff is not just for world building but part of a plot relating to the man eaters and why some of the orphans have been shown to have special abilities. Since so far we have only seen those with special abilities act this sexual. Though could just be coincidental.

Maybe, the kids being part "animals" may influence their behavior.
But maybe is just because we aren't used to seeing kids engane in sexual behavior in animation.
We happens in the real world, but we often forget.

Toru's nose starts bleeding at 14:23 while he is straddling Kiruko and tries to touch her boobs. That bleeding is the staple comedic tool of anime and manga it has nothin to do with their powers, It is just a cliched trope that even a story like this seems to be unable to get rid of.

So I've read through the comments and there were a couple things that I didn't think about that make more sense assuming they're true. I already knew that Tokio was a girl as it was discussed in a previous episode but what I did not realize is that her throwing up could be morning sickness and that Maru may be her son. That would explain the similar appearance AND especially the fact that Maru has superhuman capabilities.

Also, it took me a bit to realize what Maru really meant when he said he went in in the hotel scene when it clearly wasn't sexual even though it may have appeared that way. So that hotel girl may be a maneater or become one soon, very interesting.

I'm wondering who is manipulating the cameras as that was also done when Tokio snuck into that incubation room with Kuku (another topic that was discussed was camera manipulation and some people thought Tokio was invisible to the cameras). This has been a great series so far 👍

There continues to be an excellent amount of world building and intrigue, and while I get that the fan service might be uncomfortable for some, it didn't feel like it was being "degenerate" just for the sake of it, as it seems to contribute to the story, as everyone in Heaven and outside are exploring their sexuality. The hotel bit was honestly quite entertaining if you ask me, it's a good business in a dying world like this you know? Whatever works, works.

There's obviously something wrong with Tokio, even if it's not a physical issue at the moment, and I wonder if she gets pregnant later on down the road, as it would only make sense. The question of the timelines between Heaven and the outside still linger as well, though I suspect Heaven is a setting in the past, with what they're showing us at the moment. We're halfway through the season, and the second half should get even more exciting and intriguing.

The most likely candidate to me is Meena, the AI that manages the whole Institution. It also started an alert to avoid Tokio and Kuku being caught in the incubation room and "lied" to the director a bit later when it told that it didn't know anything about the alert. So I believe it is trying to help the kids to emancipate from the adults. What are its motives, I can't figure out for now.

Nope, did not like this episode at all. Show has been great so far, but this was anything but.

Also, was Tokio being a girl really that shocking? I thought that was pretty damn obvious from the start to be honest, even considering the non-binary uniforms and character designs on display in what I'm presuming to be "Heaven".

OMG THIS ANIME IS SO WEIRDDDD BUT I LOVE IT AT THE SAME TIME😫😭😭😭

The animation was really really good in this episode when Kiruko shot the bear was well animated🤌🏽🔥

The whole misunderstanding with Maru and the girl in doggystyle had me bursting out laughing so loud I can’t believe he got into a situation like that🤣🤣🤣🤣

The moment at the end when Kiruko grabbed Maru’s hand was adorable☺️ can’t wait for the next episode :DDDD

One last thing everyone here is surprised at the end scene showing Tokio with breast and shit but tbh guys ngl……..this entire time I thought Tokio was a girl from the get go and thought that Tokio and Maru are the same person, just that I didn’t know how Maru ended up as a guy, I’m glad we got this reveal tbh but this only raises more questions😅

That's something I didn't consider before that the timelines may be different so Tokio could be Maru's mother. Though I don't see that happen very often in shows where there is no indication something isnt happening in the past so I think one of them is a clone or they are separated twins.

Some if not all the orphans seem to be part maneater or fully maneater in humanoid form or something. And I dont think anyone in their teens and younger so far has even been shown to have parents or at least not living parents that i recall which if i am not wrong is possibly something to keep an eye on. Although it also may just be world building since logically a lot of people would have lost their parents with the past events creating many orphans.

That's a great theory and yeah what are its motives? I want to add that someone probably programmed the AI and maybe made it to allow these children to eventually escape and reproduce by manipulating cameras and even lie to the director as you mentioned. That's something I'm really curious about and is hopefully addressed in future episodes.

There's been at least one person that had posted in a previous episode how the timelines were different but I don't recall what the difference in time is so it could be possible that instead of Maru being an offspring maybe he's a clone or twin as you pointed out (for now I'm entertaining the assumption that Maru may be Tokio's son).

Regarding the orphans, yeah that's a great point that I also didn't catch at first, that some (I doubt all) orphaned kids may be part man-eater like the hotel girl. Pretty sad if these kids are being experimented on. I've had several waitaminute moments and I really like how this series makes you question of what may really be going on and since I have not read the manga all this is new to me.

What we know from the 3rd episode is that Maru and Kiruko's journey takes place in 2039, since the kart race takes place in 2034, 5 years before.
The same panel claims that the disaster took place 10 years before, so in 2024. That makes Maru being born around the catastrophe.
We don't have a clue yet about the date in the Institution since they seem to use a specific calendar : the year i supposed to be t17, Ten'ei era (according to episode 5, when Tarao dies).
Something to look for in future episodes.
