lol do people forget it's just an anime ?? and not actually real where real war crimes and discrimination is happening ??
I root for Eren and apparently i support Hitler according to anti-Erens 🀦🏻‍β™€οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»‍♀️
in the whole show i only give all fuck about Eren, perhaps 2-3 fucks about Jean(he's just a cinnamon roll) and Floch. rest can i don't care, Sasha (rip)

my reasoning behind rooting for Eren : i love some good old cold served revenge, and honestly you reap what you sow... πŸ™…πŸ»‍♀️ don't care about the innocent people being because where were everyone when the Paradis people were persecuted ? yeah that's all.

who you rooting for and why is that ? (you don't have answer if you don't want tbh)

I'm the same way. I'm rooting for Eren just like i was rooting for Light in Death Note. The show is at the point of kill or be killed, and that's why I'm riding with him. It's just fiction at the end of the day, so root for who you want. You're not "missing the message/point" just because you are picking a side. Anime fans need to just let people enjoy things again

Eren because:
- you're not actually responsible for the actions of your predecessors
- the subjugated don't deserve to sacrifice for the subjugators

Exactly, I agree with you. Basically you're free to choose any side you want as long as you aren't toxic (like most of those weirdos are), and you get the message/point of the show.

Believe me, I was with Eren for the longest time until the ending. As a former manga reader, the conclusion to his character left me dissatisfied and broken for a time.

For a few years I was supporting eren but now I understand what isayama wanted from the story. one of his interviews he said everyone know killing is bad but still there was murders in the society. so he wrote a story where he shows killing is the way of the protagonist so that people think before killing someone and question themselves is this the right way. to make them understand why killing is wrong.

I think you didn't understand the story,
Eren is not takin revenge on the outside world for his mama's death

Eren is simply a Mere slave to his own inherent nature.
A SLAVE to the IDEA behind FREEDOM

The story is about
his human nature/humanity Vs his inner nature/ desire of achievin the idea of freedom which is  Arming's Book.

Think from a philosophical perspective.
Many people who hate on AoT ending have 0 philosophical knowledge.

I just want Eren to live and have a happy ending w Mikasa but that’ll never happen :((

Anyways, I’m on team Eren. Genocide is bad but he’s got good reasons for his actions. It’s pretty naive to think every country will just accept Eldians. They won’t and when Eren dies from his titan power, they’ll be defenseless

Most of the characters get serious downgrades and become mediocre if not outright unlikable by the end. Armin used to be one of my top 10 all time characters and now I can't even look at him anymore. It's true what they say - live long enough and you become cringe. That's why Tupac remains a legend while Snoop Dogg is a lame consumer product. Erwin & Floch are top tier characters because they didn't have time to get Yammed.

I imagine it like one of those morality questions where you gotta either save one group of people over a ‘less valuable’ group of people by changing which train the track runs on. But you gotta be the one who changes the course of the train essentially killing the ‘less valuable’ group of people. If u gotta choose to sacrifice urself and ur minority over the vast vast majority of others then… tough one still tho

The solution (not a perfect one, but a decent & justifiable one) would have been Eren releasing only the Colossal Titans within the smaller Shiganshina Walls - these would have been more than sufficient in destroying the rest of the world's assembled military might AND as a warning to everyone else that IF they tried to harm Paradis Island again in the future, they could unleash the full Rumbling at any time.

I'm rooting for them to stop the rumbling. He isn't just Killing those who had power to discriminate and kill his people, he's also killing people who had absolutely nothing to do with it. It is overkill, he could have crippled the other militarys and governments and that would have been fine.

It’s not about whether it’s real or not. Eren’s ideals are genocidal, and so by rooting for him, you’re accepting his ideals. It’s obviously not as bad as encouraging a real life nazi as that has real world consequence, but it’s still pretty damn weird to say you support a character that thematically represents Nazi-esque war criminals. How many times does the series have to spoon-feed fans the sentence “Eren is wrong” for y’all to get that he’s the bad guy?

Saying “you reap what you sow” just misses the point. Virtually every genocide in history has been justified by its perpetrators as an act of justice, and Eren is no different.

I rather have an Eren saving his own 'race' than let the world exterminate them. I rather have an Eren who's morally, emotionally, and spiritually distraught for committing his actions than being a whining bitch that he's in the end. Sometimes, I rather have fiction where when it comes to these kinds of topics, the author has the balls to execute the impossible than being morally right or "justice" as you call it.

@Ayanokamisama, a story can be interpreted in many ways. As long as it's logical, there's no problem. Don't give others the bs that they "didn't understand the story".

I root for Eren. I don’t see him as a villain and I don’t see him as a hero. The closest character label for Eren, I think, is the anti-hero.
The line “even a lamb content in it’s pasture cornered can turn into the Yeager” from the 1st season is basically my stance on all of it.
A line I tend to live by is “if you can dish it you better be able to take it” which I guess is a less idealistic version of the golden rule. I don’t think you can justify that you can do something but then no one else around you can do it.
Everyone in Attack on Titan is a murderer (all the main peeps, not the random villager). Each character has their own justifications for what they did, but they all ended up taking another life, they have all done the same thing.
I like Eren. He compares himself to Reiner on doing something horrible for their family/people. Yet, Eren doesn’t try and play the victim card like Reiner did. Eren accepts that the things he is doing isn’t right, he accepts he is killing others, and he doesn’t make excuses about it. He doesn’t try and convince himself that he is the hero. (All the other characters repeat they are sorry about killing others and that kind of ticks me off. Because to me that implies they recognize they had another choice but they chose to kill them instead. Like the amount of times I yelled at Armin to knock them, his friends, in the head with the gun instead of shooting them is ridiculous.)
For sure, for sure, my opinion/way I see all of this can change throughout my life, but I’m with Eren on this one. Everyone has put him through so much and everyone has asked him to throw his humanity out the window. (I think this specifically happened when he had to battle Annie knowing the Titan was Annie, his friend and his comrade.) but then they get mad when Eren no longer has that humanity/remorse anymore.

You reap what you sow, if you can’t take it, don’t dish it.

Eren Yeager is not a God nor a leader who who wish to save Paradis
He is jus a 19year old boy controlled/manipulated by that

'Thing'

Eren Yeager doesn't have God like powers to save eldia
That 'Thing' has.

Eren did not wish to commit genocide
It is that 'Thing' /Ymir's desires forced Eren to do it.

Eren Yeager did want to influence Grisha and other past AT shifters to obtain the FT
it's That 'Thing'.

That 'Thing' was responsible for everything

That 'Thing' can be interpreted as
Ymir's desire, love, Time, fate, cosmos, worm, halucigenia, determinism ....etc

Eren Yeager is simply a mere slave/Tool to that Thing.

Everything in AoT was pre-planned by that Thing and foreshadowed by Isayama.

I recommend you to reread AoT.

None of them tbh. On one side we have a manchild not being able to see sense past his own lust for vengeance and on the other a nonsensically formed alliance. I do not hate how the events turned out in the end, what I hate is it's terrible execution by Isayama.

I recommend you to reread AoT.

Throughout my re-read over the years--before the whole fiasco conclusion/ending--I got the idea that Eren's character was to defy fate and the meaning of being a slave to something. He constantly preaches about not wanting to be a slave to something and is obsessed with the idea of freedom. I find that part of his character to be unique and inspirational. Never once did I give in to the idea that Isayama wanted to make Eren being a slave to something. That's nonsense. So no, no matter how many re-reads I'll do, it'll never change my mind because that was not how I saw the series as a whole. Like the person above me said, Isayama had a terrible execution in the end. The thing that you're pointing to was just an excuse by Isayama. I find Eren being a slave, in the end, is a complete irony to what the entire series has been preaching about. It just makes the series more laughable at its comical conclusion.

How does one supporting Eren's actions be related to one's immaturity? I swear one can have sound reasons for supporting Eren and his ideals yet there come people like you labeling them Nazis or, in your case, being immature. Why don't you people stop condescending others and start having a sense of what you're stating.

One can say they don't support Eren and his actions but then go on to cheer for Annie and Reiner when they also committed atrocities. Not only people within the walls that were annihilated but their supposed friends that were formed during their time as infiltrators. What I see then is the hypocrisy that you people don't seem to get.

I see this point being brought up a lot. At the same time, it's a very shallow way of looking at it. One can say they don't support Eren and his actions but then go on to cheer for Annie and Reiner when they also committed atrocities. Not only people within the walls that were annihilated but their supposed friends that were formed during their time as infiltrators. What I see then is the hypocrisy that you people don't seem to get.

It's not about what they have done, it's about what they're doing. Both annie and reiner have greatly evolved in their way of thinking. It's like the people that still despise gabi for what she did. All she did was take revenge on her friends and she also greatly improved her way of thinking. The hypocrisy is thinking that destroying the world just to protect your people is the right thing to do. It's absolutely not

If the story comes to the point where the entire World, including the eldians outside the island, wants to exterminate Paradis Island and its inhabitants to protect themselves, then Eren gets every right to protect his people. I don't see anything wrong with that. What's so hypocritical about that? Plus, Isayama cornered himself to do so. He wrote it to this point. And I see Eren's actions as something beyond just protecting his people. It's also to show Eren's character and how far he has come. His emotional maturity, his notion of morality, and his willingness to seek the end. To me, that's the most important thing. The choice you make, you live by it. Those notions connect back to the beginning of the series: such as the Female Titan arc and the Royal Government arc. In each of these narrative storylines, there was this constant motif and I like to see it to the end.
