i…played dancing queen on abba on loop just this week and somehow it is my top scrobbled song in the past 180 days 💀 so i will not comment
Oh... I thought Grimmer appeared by episode 38, maybe I have to watch the whole thing again.
And on the other hand a lot of protagonist have everything given to them, as if fate always favours them.
That's fine too!
A sport called Karuta is at the centre of this anime, it is a card game of Japanese poems and the players just sit at one place. In my opinion, the anime did a great job at making it look interesting and engaging the audience for this kind of a game. You would like to hear more about Japanese culture and history without feeling bored. The main characters are very likeable (Chihaya a bit less than other two) and their life developments also get good focus alongside the sport.
A little bit of problematic part is that for some characters, the passion and love for the game may seem pretentious just because it's an anime about the game. Though besides that, I enjoyed how everyone's love and style of playing differs from one another.
Madhouse did a great job in adapting the story, it was a passion project of studio like Frieren is now.
After the third season, you can read the manga which has finished. The third season ends on a low note in the story, I wish we get a 4th season so we get a good ending.
I understand your concern considering objectively how we see the show, however did you also stop to consider why does Johan want Dr Tenma to kill him so much? The story is filled with obscure religious references, we see through the story how Johan corrupts those around him and at the same time we have Dr Tenma, a supposedly pure being. Dr Tenma existence goes against what Johan believes and he needs a pure being like him to commit the original sin, even if it means Johan dying, and he doesn't care if he does, because that would just prove his point. There are other themes they approach like the very concept of self in identity and I really like pondering about those moments. TBH I didn't connect with the characters too, but at some point I connected with Grimmer, such a shame he is just a side characters, btw I think I always end up enjoying more side characters than main characters - despite having Johan as one of my favourites, that came after watching the whole thing and contemplating about the story.
It could mean they think very highly of you, expressing that they have a lot of positive feelings or admiration for you. It’s a playful way of showing strong approval, perhaps even in an exaggerated manner to emphasize how much they like or appreciate you.
Would you say the person has been supportive or complimentary toward you in other ways? That might help clarify their intention!
I am completely biased towards Monster, what didn't you like about it?
