I hope Yoichi learned something from all this experience. He's back to training and perfecting his ego again but his recent match was his toughest one yet.

Looks like this episode also teases a bit more about the 3rd selection and we even got some gameplay. Only one more episode left though.

And the plot twist… Isagi failed to keep the ball captive and thus even though he surpassed Rin’s play, it was Rin who had the last laugh. A simple kick to the goalpost and the scoreline reading 5-4 in the favour of Rin’s team.

Though Isagi’s team lost but it doesn’t mean it’s over for Isagi, he’s the fucking protag.. so it was him who Rin chose. Sorry for Nagi, Barou and Chigiri but side characters are side characters in the end. Again to the 3 vs 3 course.

Luck this, luck that… okay we know fortune favours the brave so keep it simple mister nerd. Though can’t argue it was luck in the end which made the final difference in the match. Anyways moving forward, finally we’re talking about the third selection, where these five will face the World five… supposedly “strong” boys. Though honestly I’ve completely forgotten something like this even happened back then but fine that’s just how this series is.

Lol the Engrsih. Realized this was the second to last episode and this is ending next week. Oh well time flies.

A lot happened this episode from the conclusion of Isagi's vs Rin's team to the start of match between top players in the world and Rin - Isagi's team.

Tbh, Nagi should be the one to be the most infuriated among the three left as he teamed up with Isagi from the start and never got to experience the victory with him that he was looking forward to.

Not the biggest suprise to see Rin win against Isagi. Rin still chose Isagi over the rest, Nagi would have been a great pick too. But, Isagi showcased his skills insanely well in this match. It's finally time for the third selection. Which is a 5vs5 against world class players. The real stuff is starting from now on.

The result could really go both way but when I think again it's more logical for Rin to win and pick Isagi to join the top three rather than Isagi win and pick Bachira and left the top three characters in the dust.

Rin finally give me a fanservice, I don't expect him to do Yoga but I DO expect him to do some shirtless activities, just not Yoga, it doesn't matter anyway as long as he took his shirt off.

Those international players should use live translator bluetooth headset, with all the hi-tech Blue Lock facility it should be possible right?

But the accent is the least concern thing for me, I'm more worried about how Japan always treat itself as inferior country when it comes to soccer, when in fact Japan does really well in world stage, definitely the strongest country that doesn't win the world cup yet. But just like Ego said, winning is everything, lucky or not.

The guy from France seems like a very very nice guy, and of course with a crazy soccer ability, and it can't be help that he's cute too.

Blue Lock additional time: It's clear to me that Isagi is creating a harem out of his teammates. Everyone loves him, or at least, love his butler service.

What a match! Although it ended with Isagi's defeat, at least he got picked.

Loki is finally here, and he's so cool!!

Even as Isagi tried his best to avoid the ball for the match point, all of this couldn't make the deception that his team lost in the pivotal match against Rin's team with a score of 5-4. As customary, the winner team must pick someone from Isagi's team, and Rin, for better or for worse, chooses Isagi to join in his conquest to become the best, completing the 5-people team for the 2nd Selection.

The last goal that was pure luck, Isagi feels regret that he's moving on, but Chigiri, Barou and Nagi will not back from their own fight. Tokimitsu and Aryu welcome Isagi with open arms, and the reunion of both him and Bachira reunited the hope of fair competition and teamwork. Now that all 5 people have passed the 2nd Selection, now it's all down to teaching what luck means in the football world from Ego himself, thrugh explaining the ruses of the final decisive goal, the part where Isagi's planning could not catch up to. Ego is truly right: luck only comes to those who fight hard for it, be it either coincidences or not, and that is the difference beween Isagi and Rin, in the process of victory and defeat.

The 3rd Selection against the World Five in a 5 vs 5 match, this is the brutality of the outside world of football. Isagi wanting to one-up Rin by following in his footsteps, even in his cooldown, it's a bit on the stretch that Isagi is forcing himself upon. But with Bachira, these two are peas in a pod to do things together, to devour the World Five.

The World Five aren't to be trifled, and apart from the somewhat scamping Engrish, it's Team Blue Lock vs. Team World Five in a standout play of individuality and teamwork, with Bachira and Rin scoring first blood.

Gonna be a finale that's worth watching.

So in the end, it all comes down to luck, and Rin's team ends up taking the match, and Isagi as well. Ego's lesson in a nutshell is that good players make their own luck. Looks like the third selection will be against five stars from different countries. I'm not familiar with soccer, but Julian Loki is probably based from Mbappé. That Engrish though was cringe, except for the British guy, whose accent seemed a little more accurate.

Finale next week, we'll see how this ends.

The only things I take out of this episode were the lucky goal Rin had and the fact that there's a third selection. Other than that, the dialogue was pure cringe, the explanation for luck was bullshit and the portrayal of the World Five was just embarrasing. I mean, no-one speaks like that and their beyhaviour don't match where they come from (particularly the Argentinian one wasn't even close).

Beyond that, eh, decent episode; entertaining to watch as always. One more to go.

Japan is nowhere near the strongest country to not win the World Cup. They've never got past the 8th finals. Netherlands, for example, has been in 3 finals. Croatia got to the finals in 2018 and semifinals in 2022. Sweden got once to the finals and when they participate they can do quite well. Hell, even Morocco last year did way better than Japan.

Wow, They got a British VA to voice Adam Blake, I wish they did something similar with the other guys. Kylian Mbappe didn't say a word tho. I'm wondering how much will be adapted for the final episode. I don't think THAT Kunigami moment will be adapted in this season after all.

Definitely thought Isagi's team would be able to get revenge on the Top 3, but luck just wasn't on their side. The ball fell perfectly into Rin's lap, and his team took the dub. Though lucky for Isagi, Rin wanted him the most so he got picked and got to advance anyway. Perks of being the MC and not a supporting character, which Nagi seemed to be self-aware about lol. Loved this match and I'm glad it subverted my expectation that the MC's team would win the second time around.

Right off the heels of the 2nd stage, our 5 winners are going up against a tough group of international players. Pretty interesting that most of Isagi's team doesn't speak English, are they not being taught that in school? Lmao. The bad English was expected though, since literally all of these players are from countries where English isn't the primary language. I was impressed with the English player's VA though, I expected to see a Western name in the credits but when I double-checked, his name was in kanji so I guess they managed to find one of the better and more fluent sounding English-speaking Japanese VAs. Dude even threw in a decent British accent lol.

Isagi's team manages to come out and quickly score the first goal, but these are world-renowned players and there's only 1 episode left, so I'm assuming they're going to get thrashed in the finale lol.

I don't even know what you're on about. "The bird shit example" was used to signify that you're not just unlucky when bird droppings fall on you. Ego says the shit could've been avoided if you noticed factors such as looking up to see if birds are right above you or looking down to see if bird droppings are below you... In the same way, you could drive in a different lane to avoid a bird shitting on your car, it's not just due to your luck or lack thereof. That links to the final goal because Rin(whether knowingly or unknowingly) put himself in an ideal position to get the rebound by following Isagi. Ego says it wasn't due to luck and Rin dismisses that statement. Ego believes that Rin could've stayed at the edge of the box instead of following Isagi and that would've resulted in him getting tackled. It makes a lot of sense to me.

Wow who would've thought that the ball would land exactly on Rin's feet when Isagi stopped it, and that is how you lose, but ofcourse they chose Isagi and not the other 3 because that's how the plot is, I suppose. Ego explaining to them what "Luck" means, I mean imo luck is just luck, you either have luck or you don't.

They're gonna play against the best 5, but it seems this one is gonna be intense as well like the previous one, but we'll see, Rin has already scored 1 goal but the tables can be flipped easily.

With 1 episode remaining, I wonder if this will go onwards into Season 2, I find it kinda weird to end the anime in its whole in an last match.

Doesn't make any sense because in real life birds don't have a fucking bathroom, they shit everywhere and most of the time while fliying so there is no real chance you can avoid it.
A better example would be something like "if you never leave yout bedroom a bird will never shit on you", which is true 99.99% of the time.

Btw, All this shit talk made me remind this video.

I have to say I actually wasn't expecting Isagi to be chosen, but I'm glad he was. Having to follow our main character go back and forth in this selection continuously would probably hinder the pacing. Having him move forward at this point is definitely the most interesting way to go, to be with Rin and Bachira who he always wanted to steal to be on his team. Call it luck if you will, but I think it's fair to say that Isagi is fully deserving of getting chosen.

Speaking of luck... I only half-understood Ego's explanation on it. From what I got, luck isn't entirely about just flipping a coin and waiting to see what happens. The future is always uncertain, but you can always help RAISE your chances of getting favoured by lady luck. Perhaps Rin also didn't know that the ball would fall to him in that position, but that position gave him the best chance of luck, I guess?? I'm just going to go with Rin on this one and say that half of what Ego was saying was total bullsh*t

And about the end with all the beautiful engrish.... wait what?? They gave they english-speaking player from england a voice actor with an actual english accent??!! Rin doesn't give af about any of them though. All he cares about is beating his older brother. YOUR LITTLE JAPANESE SIGHT-SEEING TRIP IS GOING TO TURN TRAUMATIC

One episode left, and idk how I feel about ending the season whilst in the middle of a game. I guess that'll keep us anime-onlies excited for season 2, or perhaps test our patience and make us read the manga.

In the end it didn't matter that Isagi blocked Bachira's shot because Rin was at the right place at the right time to score the game winning goal. Isagi ended up being the one chosen despite loosing the match so he was forced to leave Barou, Chigiri, and Nagi behind in the third stage while Rin's team advance to the third selection Ego's speech about luck hammers home that "Fortune favors the bold". Turns out that the third selection will be a training camp against the top strikers in the world in a 5x5 match. Rin's team has already scored one goal against the World 5, so we probably won't see the entire match with one episode left.

About the voice actors for the International team, I have to give credit to the Japanese VAs for trying to say their lines in English. Yes, it sounded like Engrish, but at least they were trying to make this International match up realistic as possible. The English lines from Rin's Japanese VA was pretty decent and the only authentic English speaker VA was for the British guy(another Japanese VA?). The rest of the Japanese VA's could use a little more work on their English enunciation though.

What a damn stupid and abrupt way to end that game, and cut just as badly too before even the OP that- isn't even present this time around. With both Ego and Rin overdoing their annoying prick act after that.

There's a point to be made about how everyone being overdone musclebrained idiots isn't necessarily a winning formula, especially for this sport - or even appealing on a personal level, at that. And another about how maybe spending time to learn English instead, if one wants to play on an international level, might actually be worth the time and energy investment. The meta in those last scenes was almost too overwhelming, and Rin casually speaking English with the others being all but dumbstruck really gets the point across. Buuuut I'm sure making those points would be stepping on some toes...

thought this episode was good but a bit filler ESC at times we got a sad but understanding conclusion to the 2nd selection I though this because I really wanted to see isagi go through with the team he built during the 2nd selection to go through together but isagi needed to play alongside Rin to get better and to reunite with bachira.
then ego started rambling about luck which I though was a bit of a time filler and then we got isagi showing how keen he was to learn from Rin and a preview to the third selection.

personally I think that this episode was quite weak compared to the last two or three which is understandable considering that they have to set the scene for the season finale

MBAPPÉ!!! More seriously, for the references of the 5 players:
• For Spain, I would say either Fernando Torres but he never played for Real Madrid...
• For England, no doubt Harry Kane
• For Argentina, I would say Julián Álvarez
• And for Brazil, it's really hard to find him. By default, Ronaldinho but he is already there for Bachira.

That was the worst Engrish I've heard in a long time. Is it that difficult to get some fluent English speaking VAs? Talk about a break in immersion.
