Thank goodness Vueko managed to make a recovery but getting an infection was still a painful experience.

Not going to lie, this episode is filled with emotions and people. I think one thing this series has done really well so far is capturing the pure emotions and despair of the cast especially at such a deep level in their world.

Things were on another level with the final reveal of the village’s origins. Vueko was actually right, it wasn’t a pleasant story, but at the end the village seems to have saved so many lives, so it might have bern worth it.

As tough as Wazukyan’s decisions were, I can definitely see where he is coming from. He did all of that so they could survive, although I still feel sorry for Belaf, Vueko, Irumyuui and Faputa.

First scene was so sudden also, Faputa seems to be offering everything she has for that promise. Reg and Faputa finally reunited.

Belaf didn’t have a good time this whole episode. He got his happy ending at least, I guess.

Faputa getting mental ... just as the whole season O.O

You know, with made in abyss it is like this, when the shit hits the fan, it does not mean that the actual shit has hit the fan yet, only that the real shit is about to hit the fan. This entire village flashback arc is just one giant cruel game, not even sad, just very cruel.

Chipping away bit ... by ... bit.

So this entire place was Irumyuui all along and Faputa's her last child, damn. The pain she suffered and what she went through, that was hard to watch. This is so messed up. Also Faputa just tore part of her, she really gonna go through any lengths to get her wish fulfilled.

Funnily enough I think Belaf had the most normal reaction of anyone to the situation. Finding out he’d eaten living children just broke him mentally as it would for any sane person.

Wazukyan’s matter of fact way of speaking about the situation was very disturbing, the sound effects of him cutting up the live child was so uncomfortable. Luckily I don’t have a weak stomach, but this episode was tough. He’s definitely a good leader though. Would do anything to ensure his team’s survival.

I’m guessing Reg probably promised to help Faputa destroy the village in the past which is why she was so willing to give him whatever he needed.

Great episode, can’t wait to see how things get resolved. Don’t think vueko will make it out of this based on what she’s said about wanting to go with Irumyui

That Faputa birth scene was awesome, although I wish they made her scream sound a bit more animalistic / brutal.

Faputa be like " Let's commit genocide. Yay!". With reason, but still.

What's make the flashback interesting, is Vueko keeping her mind balanced.

Still not entirely grisped it all, the initial wish was the birth of kids, which kept everyone alive and they managed to survive. Somehow the girl grew to that "being", and the village submitted to her willingly and became those creatures as well..I assume in order to survive? or was it more the ideology of the leader?
And then she gave birth to Faputa which seeks to destroy the village, but is the original girl still alive?
Faputa now holds the relics, so why the relics aren't destroying the village according to her wish? The leader holds one relic and Faputa the others I assume.
I'm pretty glad that Vueko told everything to Riko, because I feel like Riko would know what to do now.

So in the end, was it what the girl wished for or was it a curse caused by the relics? Or do the relics turned her to that monster in exchange for that wish? (Since the value and exchange system keeps coming up, they come from the relics?)

It actually a lot to take in. I need to watch this one more time..

Ever since Faputa got first introduced I thought it was mutated Irumyuui. I mean, it was the most obvious choice. But man, how the story has turned out in the end is much more epic.

This part of the manga that they adapted in these two episodes is my absolute favourite in the entire series (so far), and especially what happened in episode 8. When I read this I was so blown away, it was a complete mindfuck, but it also made me in complete awe of this series and how incredibly well written the world building and overall story is. My love for it reached a whole new high. I am so happy with how they animated these two episodes. They definitely did the manga justice, and then some. I don't really know what else to say, I'm kinda speechless tbh.

Things were relatively calm this season until last episode arrived, and now this one. The way everything made a full circle is one of the reasons why storytelling is the strong aspect of this series.

That was simply an amazing backstory filled with people, despair, and perhaps a glimmer of hope? It's very dark, but also very beautiful. We finally learned how Faputa came to be, and what she is trying to do. Did Reg promise to destroy the village with her?

That was just so much to take in, haven't really began processing it all yet. Also teared up a little for some reason, guess the storytelling was just that good. Awesome OST by Kevin Penkin as always.

Damn I know the rating for this anime is pretty high but there is a vocal minority of people who are sleeping on this season for some reason.

The storytelling in the past two episodes has been impeccable, we've had two of the most brutal episodes and some mind blowing reveals. I can't wait to see what happens next.

It says a lot about the writing that an episode can be mostly a flashback (and you are warned, by an actual character in the show that the origin is a sad story), and it still hits like this. Given the emotional brutality that has gone into the series so far, it feels weird to say, "I was not ready for that," and yet, here we are.

Truth about the village and Faputa is revealed. I already read the manga and, though the art was better there, it still hit. Especially moments like the ones with the mutated Irumyui and her demonic sounds. If you already know the lyrics of the ending theme, it becomes even more heartbreaking.

Also, RIP to this girl who died before becoming a Narehate. Could have been a fine waifu like the cyclops.

She's definitely not a kid by the time they get to the 6th layer, in her 20s I'm guessing. And I believe the events in the past have happened like couple hundred years ago

Just like last week, this episode really hits you and leaves you feeling almost drained and exhausted with how powerful the emotions run with this flashback story and how everything ties almost together.

The whole village itself is Irumyuui herself and just seeing her transforming and growing larger and larger with each scene change was depressing to see. I can't blame Belaf for having a complete meltdown of guilt after eating the remains of Irumyuui's kids and liking the taste of it. His breakdown had a realistic feel to it, so I can only sympathise with him during this tough scene. =(

The flashback also revealed that Faputa was Irumyuui's final child and how she lashed out in anger and with emotional pain was powerful. I can understand her how she'll go to any lengths in achieving her goal and the opening scene of the episode where she ripped off a part of herself and offering it to Reg shows how committed she is to her goal.

What a powerful episode indeed. The storytelling has been sublime and Kevin Penkin's soundtrack knows how to hit you in the feels with perfect precision every single time. Not only that, but knowing what has happened in these last two episodes, the ED lyrics hits even harder now...

Well, the origin of the village was explained. Much needed but you could have found out about it yourself. It's still fucked up, Wazaykun's methods were unacceptable but it was needed to save everyone.

Feels like a lot was skipped? I had difficulty puzzling together everything that was happening.

I have a hard time understanding the shock of eating the "babies". They looked more like animals that would die in a day anyway while eating them would save the people. I can understand Irumyuui's anger, but Belaf's reaction seems out of place. I could understand Vueko having that reaction but not Belaf. Wazukyan did actually do the most humane thing.

I actually thought they were eating Irumyuui, which would be disturbing.

BTW, the eggs look like the Madoka magika soul crystals which seem to be the reference.

Wazukyan's feeling and emotion 🤯🤯🤯

They finally told us the origin of the village, I wasn't expecting it was Irumyuui herself.

OST used in this episode hits like a truck, overwhelming feeling.

Can't wait for the next one.

Belaf's reaction is not out of place because there're multiple scenes showing him observing Inmyuu .
He knew her wishes of having babies so ofc he feels guilty.
And ofc he's the only one along along with Eluko that felt guilty about doing so cuz they're the only ppl that know Inmyuu's wishes and what they actually eat.

Damn the 2nd part of the backstory is still trauma worthy but interesting as a whole to understand the situation, I understand Belaf's reaction to how mentally broken he was, same for Vueko's suicide attempt and it feels like it would have been better for her and for the situation overall if she managed to do it sadly, but that last part really shows how harsh it was for her during the whole way :/ Now it's up to how things with Faputa will turn out.
