| What an episode! So many questions! and Mitty! I had a feeling death worked a bit differently in the abyss, but I didn't see that coming. We also got to see what happened to some of the expedition team from the flashbacks, which is cool. I can't wait to see what happens! This episode was also animated very well. I particularly liked the movement and facial expressions of Riko during her attempted assault. |

| Made in Abyss is the manga/anime with the most interesting and captivating lore that I have come across in my life, each layer has its own world, its depth and complexity, the mixture of crudeness with naturalness is really fascinating. |

Graduated High School in May of 2022. Summer vacation has finally arrived. I have once again regained the power of a new anime fan, being able to watch multiple anime episodes in a day. Time to binge-watch every single anime I can into the night until college arrives. SADGE. SUPER SADGE... College has begun as of Monday, August 30, 2022, so you won't be seeing me much around these parks. See you on weekends, I guess... School me is back. Sigh! I'll at least try for one anime a day with all this course load. |

| Pretty surprised the dick-sniff and the asshole licking toilet hollow didn't get cut. They're uhhhh... Not shying away from how gross this arc gets. Crazy that mitty gets reintroduced, but it's like 4th most remarked upon thing in the forum after dick sniff, tongue toilet, and testacle pie. This arc makes some BIG CHOICES, What an episode. lol The fleshy color scheme for the village is not at all what I had in my head while reading the manga. And man does it make a potent combination of intriguing but unsettling. Animation of rikos scary trip though town was stellar. |

| That episode was a lot of info to take in. Might have to read the bonus chapters later even though I've been anime only up to this point. Letting my mind wonder for a week on what could be so controversial lead me to expect something worse than even what was in the manga. I'm glad the show has not crossed the line but is still teetering on the edge where it's most interesting. |

Also, Belaf has also become a narehate, and is also high-ranked (and now has a very majestic design). That's leaving room for even more theories. And regarding Veko, that's something else. Apparently she didn't become a narehate, she's just been imprisoned or something ? So the whole group has been disbanded ? That, or someone in the group betrayed them and for some reason decided chain Veko because poor girl's life has to be endless suffering... I dunno. Anyway, I have plenty of theories, they would be too long to write down but I really wonder how close I am to the truth. Though when I think about it, most of those theories are based on Faputa supposedly being that little girl but it's not confirmed so I could very well be totally wrong. They look and sound alike though. Now there are plenty of other things I vould talk about but I'm gonna stop or else that would be too long. However, I still wanted to be a bit critical. I love Made in Abyss, I'm also aware the author's questionable (to say the least) tendencies have been noticeable from the beginning, but this aspect is really getting worse and worse and it's getting harder and harder for it to be overshadowed by the show's qualities, no matter how numerous they are. Because now it's just... Totally gratuitous. He's not even trying to justify implementing all those twisted things involving CHILDREN in his story (I'm not talking about those that serve a purpose in said story though it's definitely not helping). It's a shame, a real shame because this work is otherwise great but I can't lie and say it's not bothering. Sorry for this little rant and stating the obvious that has already been talked about a gigantic amount of time but I needed to get that out of my chest. yeah the children is one thing definitely but im imaging this same story being told except riko reg and nanachi at 20+ and idk the show probably doesn't have that same appeal haha though you are absolutely right the author is a little weird champ for sure but what can i say it is japan worse stories have definitely been told involving kids |

| So much stuff happeing. We went from Reg almost get raped to Riku taking a shit again (and also almost rape) to emotional scene with Nanachi. Also Maa-chan redemption. | I keep saying it many times but the world portrayed here is so fascinating to me that it blows my mind. This episode was excellent. I wanna know more about Faputa and Regu's relationship. Riko is still looking more into all of this. Maa is back and it saved Meinya. So, that's a W. And, Mitty? Not again... ;_; |

| So, I finally had time to watch it, and all the horny fetichist stuff still in there. They toned down a bit again, but I still hated those nearly as much as in the manga. 1- Reg getting dominated, penetrated in the bellybutton and being licked there by Faputa (curiously, Fap and Puta are not exactly a nice combination of words, but that's just a funny coincidence) while also getting his everso alluring shota penis sniffed, which she oddly specifically recognizes as being her Reg's. So classy. 2 - The unnecessary scat "theme" stupidity in this arc continues for its 4th episode straight, with of course the infamous eldritch toilet still being there; the only difference is that they just used a wet fart noise to seem like she was just feeling relief right after letting the poop out, unlike the manga in which she was blushing making a similar face while moaning, and then commenting on how she was glad with how much it wiped her, but that she wasn't going to get used to it . And yeah, she appreciates how much it wiped her in terms of frequency（「頻繁に拭き取ってくれるの嬉しいんだけど・・・」）, so the scene indeed indicates she was enjoying getting licked by the toilet that much (which is what makes the scene so infamous in the fandom). However, the official anime subs went with a slightly less awkward approach I guess ("It's nice that it keeps wiping for you but..."). Nonetheless pretty bad, as the cunilingus happens all the same and she still gets her privates licked clean, because of course she does (and if one is to imagine that's the noise of the toilet licking her instead, it's not too different of a scene either). 3- Menya's and Rico's tentacle r4pe-like scene is also present right after, but also toned down, just enough not to be as horny (NSFW), I guess. 4- And yeah, after all that, knowing our loveable author, his reasoning, in my opinion, likely went like this: "You know what would be a nice idea? Display Rico enjoying herself eating some surprise testicles! I could have chosen a wild variety of things to enter this little girl's mouth, like that tentacle from before, but actual testicles, I can also get away with it if they are just food!". And before anyone claims it's just me seeing this as such, do consider everything that was pushed onto the viewers in this episode alone, and maybe see some of the hornier extra pages he draws exclusively for the tankobons. This is probably the worst concentrated fetishist part of the arc iirc, which they adapted in a single episode altogether. At least we got done with it in one go. And yeah, at this point I'm just ranting that this crap is in a story that could easily take away all of it and lose literally nothing of substance. My least favorite part of the manga so far, collected in a single episode, very nice. 1.5/5, because at least the production values are high and it just looks too good not to give credit for it. |

As for Mushoku, the title on itself refers to self-improvement, (the whole story is all about that), but . Yeah, Mushoku also has all that great world building and all, but unlike Made in Abyss, the problem is not just with the tone and content ruining part of the journey, but the themes on themselves also. At least MiA still have that sort of integrity in one way or another. |

It's not a light hearted adventure, they're in a deep dangerous hole full of things they do not understand, so yes obviously some things might want to kill them, the food might give them the runs and yes the toilet might even lick their ass clean... This is what I signed up for after deciding to continue watching this series and I wouldn't change it for anything. |
