Damn, they're really pushing towards the grand finale now. Hao makes his statement and intentions known. The next Shaman King is being decided very soon

Tbh, Hao has such a intimidating presence that the priests doesn't compare much to him.

When was said that were 10 plants, i couldn't stop thinking that was a Saint Seiya reference.

Darn it! These floor tanks made Jeanne sad at least Shamash is having time to read a book.

Stage 2 of 10 plants, and facing Bron is a cinch for Lyserg in the Valley Plant.

Stage 3: the Volcano Plant under Magna, and Ren takes ownership of this one. The Patch Song is like the Patch Tribe's hidden power, but Yoh and others have Opacho whom is a mind reader that Hao consciously let go of, what's he thinking?

Hao reaching the inner depths of the Plants and to his rightful place, it's a fast track. But for Yoh and the rest, they have to continue on to face Radim and his Lake Plant...and use a strategy to face him, without the help of Faust. But knowing Faust, he'll be fine.

Redseb and Seyram using the Golem to reach the inner depths sounds like they want in on the trouble, and it doesn't look good.

Only 4 more episodes to go.

Looks like Jeanne is out of mana and won't be fighting anymore. Not sure what exactly I was expecting but in the original anime it felt like she and her X-laws were the only ones mounting any kind of organized opposition against Hao and even here her stated power level is still tripling Yoh and his friends so I figured she'd have a bigger role to play. Ah well. Still best girl.

The show has been kind of a clusterfuck recently so I'll just wait for this to end and then read the manga to see if it makes more sense. One thing I really don't like though is that this show has basically become Dragon Ball Z in terms of killing off and reviving characters.

if Jeanne is out of mana then can she just sing the Patch Song to boost her and his teams mana levels

Opacho is a boy? and he can read minds too eh

that sword master Patch official attacked Faust first so no more healing and resurrection?

and Aliens?

This plot is so stupid: antagonist gloats, protagonist attacks, antagonist sings patch song and gets stronger, protagonist dies, protagonist revives and defeats/kills antagonist, rinse and repeat.

I think that first Patch he killed was possible because Ren caught him off guard after the test should have been over. Like how that one rando managed to kill Jeanne and Lyserg by blowing up their car.
I feel like the original anime was more simple in terms of power scaling. By this point Yoh was just invincible against anyone except Hao and there was none of this fighting against the Patch thing. There was no reviving either except Hao's reincarnations and maybe Yoh one time at the end.

If I'm not mistaken, next episode is where the manga was originally cancelled.

Agree to disagree. While the pacing has been an issue for the 2021 anime, it still follows the plot of the manga, which I find to be leagues better than the 2001 anime. I don't dislike the old show, but I find it far more shallow by comparison. That's just me though.

No you are correct, Opacho is a little girl, she only got changed to a boy for the English version of the 2001 anime and apparently the English manga too for some reasons, at least according to the Shaman King wiki.

I managed to find a stream for this episode and I think the translators messed up with the English subtitles. At one point Magma and Chocolove uses "her" to refer to Opacho but then a few moments when Yoh uses the line "koitsu" to refer to Opacho, the sub translates it as "him/his". If you typed "koitsu" into google translate, the translator gives the hiragana "こいつ", which translates into "this guy". However if you search a bit more online some web pages uses "this person" as a translation for "koitsu".

Essentially it's not actually explicitly stated in the episode that Opacho is a guy, but the translator used a possible translation of the word "koitsu" and I think it's incorrect, because I'm pretty sure they established Opacho's gender earlier in the manga/show as a girl

Wow, thank you for such a detailed answer and even for enclosing the sources. I guess the translation of the episode I watched was wrong in that case. Thanks again for the clarification

You're welcome. To be honest I was a little shocked because I thought production team changed Opacho's gender again or I somehow remembered it wrong, so I had to do a little investiagtion.

Turned out it was just a small mistake on translations.

Storywise? You think Golden Spirit of Fire vs Giant Amidamaru is good? Also earlier on when Spirit of Fire turns into Spirit of Water because of X-Laws' anti-oxygen bomb?

I like the art style better though

As common shounen trope as it is, it was epic enough.

Spirit of Fire turning into the water attribute (not really Spirit of Water though) happened in this version as well, this is manga stuff, so I don't see your point with this.

Damn... I'm so uninterested watching this anime that I completely missed the spirit of water stuff happening again.

Something else I liked about the original is that they didn't get to adapt the part Manta's father tries to attack them. Manta is one of the most useless characters I've seen.

You know what... I never actually thought about it before back in the original.

But...

The alien dude mentioned

"MU migrated into space", "build ecosystems underground"

yet... somehow... they still got wipe out by "natural disasters"?

If they Migrated into space, wouldn't they still be there? as in... not wiped out? lol

Plus if they can build ecosystems underground... they can escape "natural disasters" by living in those ecosystems underground... since we can literally see them there not destroyed by "natural disasters"

So many loopholes in this ancient civilization...

It's beyond me to understand how this 10 level part gonna end, and also to have the climax part, only in 4 episodes. and we aren't even in the 5th level.
in other words, i'm expecting really rushing in the following episodes.

and like the gang said it itself, all the battles here are quick and surprise attacks. that end only proved it.

though all bad things can be said about this anime so far, i feel that the whole opacho thing will surprise me in the end.
hopefully.

The pacing has accelerated further. Jeanne is burnt out after the group's victories in the previous plants and Opacho reveals she has a mind-reading power.
Radim attacks the group's healer while Redseb and Seyram decide to get Hao with the golem.
