THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
The Kirihara Brothers have stumbled back to their home base, and confront Mikuriya of the opposite effects of the psionics, and the effect that Earth has alredy embraced on change. Both Naoto and Naoya were essentially robbed of their family relations just to prove that psychics do exist, and that they're a power needed to restore this "spiritual" Earth from the Eath already established.

So there are 2 Earths: the spiritual Earth, and the Earth that they're all seeing to deny the fact that the spiritualism world does exist. All of this jus to ccreate the entity that is Misaki, using her interconnected data to spur their movement.

I can understand how much trouble the Kirihara brothers are played in this sacrificial role, as is the frustrations that they're used as a tool to divide the chosen instead of the generic. Experiments like these are a boon or bain.

On the Kuroki brothers side, Yuya is attempting psychic training with Kimie to have a better grasp of control of his psychic powers, and learn of the history behind the feud between them and the Kirihara Brothers. Unfortunately Yuya went too far to replay his subconscious memories which causes a blackout.

For all his life, Mikuriya has spent his time and devotion to taking care of the Kirihara Brothers, and now it's their turn to make things right.

This episode is the mark where I test whether George Iida still has the writing mojo in him that'll be marked for the 2nd half going forward.

There's no excuse to abduct two innocent children, even if it's to save the world. Though what Mikuriya did is technically unabducted aka bring back the abducted children to the old world.

This still doesn't make much sense, but it was better than the last episode.

I don't like the new psychics in this anime at all. I also don't care about them.

I get annoyed every time Naoto gets angry. He has much more anger than he needs. Yes, being forced to do dangerous things would make you angry, but something about Naoto just doesn't feel authentic.

I have a theory about why the Kirihara brothers appeared in Yuuya's flashback. They did that dimensional time travel thing, and went there. Maybe to rescue the brothers? And, the murder is probably either an accident or a misunderstanding.

That was an interesting concept how that world became the depressing shit society that it is.

Bleh, that exposition was so inelegant. Sure, it answers some of the mysteries, and multiple dimensions could slot in with the parallels between our psychic brothers, but it doesn't flow in any interesting way from what we already knew. It might as well have been spiritual energy summoned unicorns who made two thirds of the world invisible. Deeply unsatisfying.

This was always a mediocre execution of what might be an interesting plot, and now I don't have hope for the plot anymore. So that's going to be a drop.

Halfway through this episode I realized that I'll never like this anime. Just not my time of anime.

The scale of the story has gotten too big. A battle with a mafia would have been suitable scale for the brothers.

I'm tired. I just don't give a shit the lengthy exposition in this episode
I'm too weird to live but much too rare to die.

What were you hoping for and expecting and how did it fail to meet those expectations? What was your preconception of this series versus the reality of how it panned out (thus far)?

I tend to mostly like shounen and in the past, skipped anime that wasn't. I usually give anime a chance as I am sometimes surprised that I could like something that I would have otherwise skipped. "Kemono no Souja Erin" was an anime I expected to hate 100 percent and the first episodes were boring but it ended up becoming one of my favorite of all time. I also need to like a character in the series whether a protagonist or antagonist. I found that I disliked every single person in this anime.

While watching episode 7, they were explaining things that I was sure to be very important to the series but I absolutely couldn't make myself care enough to listen so I know that dropping it was the right decision.

TLDR; I was expecting to be surprised but wasn't.

Misaki, Mikuriya and the rest put quite the responsibility on Naoto and Naoya with the whole other Earth thing. I see why Naoto got so angry and frustrated there, being kept in the dark for so long and just now hearing all this information.

As I kinda guessed last episode, multiple dimensions.
Still would love to know what the spiritual world looks like, does everyone that travels to the materialistic world revert back to how they were in the psychic world at the time they left?

Also what would've been the prerequisite to travel in the first place as apparently it looks like there's enough people still believing in fiction and having faith in gods etc.

A lot of questions still but have always been a fan of this kind of sci-fi.

I'm kind of confused about the jumps between worlds and the roles they are suppose to play, but I'm trying to withhold my judgement until the end.
