Already watched the sneak peek of the 1st episode's sneak teasers beforehand, and already knew that this was going to be great.

FINALLY, gettting the first Crunchyroll Original under the Adult Swim banner. JUNNA and Minori Suzuki are back with their theme songs, and how I've missed them.

The White Marginal that is Fena Houtman, living in a decrepit British Empire kingdom with her sister Angie and the doggo, and Asami Seto VAing Fena, I couldn't have asked for a better VA to voice Fena's eccentricity.

Fena's life, resigned to familial marriage where money is abundant to the rich and money is a tool for everything, of course she would vehemently deny it going through to be used as a bargaining tool. But as such is the culture, and immediately the pirate vibes come along to rescue her out of her predicament. If only the old men are as susceptible of their senses, they would do. Unfortunately, one of the helpers (Salman) didn't fare so well, and Otto is a bulge of another old man.

The samurai warrior that saved her...is indeed her childhood friend Yukimaru, but the way he handled her...was quite the shocker though. More stories to be told in a grown-up manner.

A really fun and promising start from Production I.G. and original creator Kazuto Nakazawa (of this show adds to his broad catalogue). Never thought that I'd enjoy this premiere a whole lot, it's looking VERY promising to be the very best of Crunchyroll Originals.

For me, I feel as though the pacing was a bit too fast for me to really get invested. But hey it’s the first episode. It may slow down and I’ll get more into it.

Promising debut. Anime looked really good and it had good direction, art, animation and soundtrack. There were some great scenes in this episode. What bothered me a bit was some of the character designs and the overall tone. There were a lot of jokes (didn't laugh at any of them) and over the top villainous characters. I think that it would suit this shiw better if they toned these things down a little bit. But overall promising debut, look better than the last Crunchyroll original Joran the Princess of snow and Blood

To think that the last anime airing this season would interest me the most with its 1st episode. Pretty good; hoping it keeps going like this.

Good OP and ED

I think this was a great first episode. The pacing was a little fast, but it was a great introduction to Fena and what the show will be like. Definitely a good hook for a first episode.

It's only episode 1 and there is another one to watch but I am already loving this. I really like the animation and it adds a lot of comedy to some scenes and is badass in others, all while looking really beautiful. I don't even normally talk about animation so that's how good it was.
I've already laughed a lot and already thought it was really god damn cool. The story seems interesting too. I hope it keeps this up.

Not really about the story, but some thoughts I had that are completely irrelevant.

1. Fena’s character design kind of reminds me of Teresa Wagner from Tada Never Falls in Love in the beginning.

2. That dog also reminded me of Sadaharu from Gintama, but more fluffy.

3. I’m glad I can watch another pirate anime combining the aspects of Yona of the Dawn and One Piece, but with no devil fruits, tons of lore, or Kaido, just a typical pirate series.

It's not about who animates it, it's about who orders the animation.
Crunchyroll/Adult Swim are American, and this show looks like a western cartoon with standard humor mixed with some stories about female abuse.

So Crunchyroll ordered the animation of Tower of God, is tower of god a cartoon now? And also the original creators of Fena are Japanese too.

I dont really like it. It seems like its trying to hard to compete with other titles. Also the pacing was fast and although there may be more backstory on fena in the future, I wish we would have seen more to make me like her character. But this is just what I got from the first 2 episodes mabey it will be alot better as more episodes come out.

Also I really don't like the way fena looks with short hair.

First episode was great! Got some humour here and there. I was expecting more serious story and pacing but this seems to be light hearted. I couldn't ask for more on Fena's seiyuu, Asami Seto's voice fits perfectly on Fena's personality.

Tower of God is an adaptation of a Korean webtoon. Fena is an anime-original show.

Of course, not all originals who are ordered by Crunchyroll/Netflix/Amazon are similar to western cartoons, but this show exactly is.

Violet Evergarden is not a Netflix anime. They are not involved with the production of Violet Evergarden in anyway.

So uh.. One Piece vibes from characters, SAO vibes from fights and blood splatter, Disney vibe from plot, some animation and noses... I can see the appeal for a younger audience but i'll give it a pass

Also, the cover photo is so bad.

Superb animation, good op.

As for the plot...

Kind of meh... Main girl and the guy at the end seem repulsive to me... Hopefully this changes with later episodes.

Also...

So, we're gonna have super edgy and super unrealistic and op Japanese Samurai/Ninjas vs everybody else (who are obviously incompetent)?

This was a pretty good episode. I saw some others complaining about the rushed pacing, but I thought it was perfectly acceptable. The dub is on point as well. Yuki Kajiura's soundtrack is good so far, but I am expecting it to get even better later on in the show. The characters are all likable and the story so far is pretty simple, though there are many questions that we still need answers for. The comedic bits also mostly hit their marks. That opening song was great too.

About what I expected. There's nothing really striking about the world. My takeaway is that prostitution is prosperous xD

It's probably for the better that this show is prominently goofy, even tho it feels like it was tried too hard to create a contrast. The let's call them more mature elements such as violence and sex are just there because reasons, makes them feel borderline edgy, and the comedic timing feels off. There's no harmony.

The pacing on the other hand was more pleasant. Fast, but not rushed. It worked for a 12 episode cour that has to get things started.

Visually it's looking fine. And credit to the animators, some of the few who didn't forget that anime girls have asses. Like the opening as well.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Ok you may think that, but still the original creator is Japanese, plus why the hate? If the anime is good then it’s good, idk why people have to go after the nationality of the producers.

That was a fine debut. Fena is cute, fun, and funny, albeit a little annoying. The animation is whimsical which adds to the comedic tone. A wonderful color palette as well. I'm actually glad this isn't a dramafest, rather something on the more lighthearted side.

The pacing was a concern, as it felt lightning fast. Also, it feels as though they cut out the moments of silence between dialogue, so characters are just firing off at one another with no break in-between. It's almost exhausting to watch.

Overall, it has promise, but is has some flaws weighing it down.

Maybe this season isn't all dogshit afterall.

Pretty solid production values in it's animation & background art, along with a very pleasing aesthetic artstyle (even the background characters' animation looks stunning for a TV series).

The plot reminds me of old 70's shoujo series with a damsel in distress being saved by not one but many characters that already have more personality and quite an interesting design than your run of the mill self insert white knights these days anime produce on an assembly line.

Just by taking a peek at the trailer it already gives me quite some comfort to know that Sena will grow up pretty quickly into an independant woman seeking for adventure and this damsel in distress phase won't last long.

My only gripe is the shonen-like humor. I wish it would had been cut down drastically or even completely taken out. But still it's quite impressive everything else.

Finally there is a Kenjiro Tsuda role in a while, that doesn't make me roll my eyes out with the same taciturn and monotone kind of character directors like to dump on him.

Hey, A new Crunchyroll original hopefully, they won't scuff this up! The visuals for this are nothing less than stunning. The plot is pretty generic; it really feels like something Disney would do. The comedic elements are definitely the best part of the show for me so far. The op/ed songs are also really nice.

I really love this a lot already, I guess you gotta save the best for last for this season. Fena is great as well already, her personality is great and she has plenty of room for good character development. She got horny bonked in the head though rip. This was probably the best premiere this season for me.

Also love the animation and artstyle, it's very expressive, plus those backgrounds and sceneries damn. I hope the show keeps it up.

It was really enjoyable and had a good laugh too.

The animation is really beautiful and loved both the OP and ED.

Fena is SO ADORABLE!

Fena looks a bit like Elizabeth from Nanatsu no Taizai.

That Maxver jr or whatever the name is, his serious voice caught me off guard. Damn it's Tsuda Kenjiro XD

Salman and Otto are such a fun duo XD

That scene was kinda supposed to be romantic but the way Yukimaru ended it was splendid 😂

And I wonder what role is that ikemen blondie officer gonna play. He looks so suspicious.

Liked it. Nice setting. Not too serious but also a bit comedy instead.
Thought the military guy (from OP) would be the evil guy. But he seemed (at least in episode 1) pretty nice - compared to the other guy that was buying girls.
