That Sachio kid is back and honestly, he's quite bold for attacking another customer. That looked brutal and he's lucky that didn't kill him.

Great to see some action in the ring featuring Joe again. He seems fired up and didn't hold back in his fight. Unfortunately, he also took quite a beating. Scary.

Sachio doesn't take shit from anyone anymore especially when it comes to his friends. He's grown. But too bad for Bonjiri, his shop got destroyed because of it.

Luckily, Joe stepped up for the fight and get the shop deed back from them. This was his first fight as Gearless Joe since Liu defeated him on Nanbu's death day. Too many emotions, too many different situations were going on in this episode. Really enjoyed it. You could tell that people were betting on him with that crowd cheer. Well, he put his whole reputation on the line there.

Now, what's next for Joe? It'll be interesting to see if he'll go back to being a boxer or just watch from the side?

The kids of the Team Nowhere gym have definitely grown up, and everyone's grown into their different ways, the most exuberant being Sachio going Megalo-boxing.

In all cases, Sachio is a real troublemaker, and even with underground fixed matches he still wants to go at it clean. Going head-to-head with another Megalo-boxer, Gearless Joe makes a comeback, and the backstory becomes more clearer as Joe intends to fight Yuri's pupil Liu as a promise for the dying Nanbu.

The match against Ushihara draws parallels to how much Joe has fallen in his fight against Liu, and it's a sad, sad sight to see Joe pushing himself to the limit for failing to uphold a promise. It's the same before, and it will be the same now: Joe will remain as a Nomad, and the grown-up kids have outgrown their nerve towards him for leaving Pops at a critical time to now with Bonjiri's restaruant business.

What will be Joe's resolution in this unfair fight of fate?

Such a sad episode with Joe finally returning to those he left behind. Sachio is a little bastard, dude is slightly unhinged smacking people around with glass bottles. Those guys who walked into the restaurant weren't the nicest guys but escalating it like that I mean damn. Basically forced Joe to get involved once he knew what happened. That big guy he ended up fighting would've killed Sachio in the ring. Sachio is not a good boxer, the kid ended up pummeled not even strong enough to knock somebody out for a fixed fight. Speaking of it was pretty shocking to see Joe lose but him agreeing to a fix, with knowing the audience betting on him so the owners could bet on his opponent and win big, I can see why. He got the deed back which was the most important thing I suppose. Seeing more of the flashbacks to his exhibition lose to Liu fills in more of the blanks we've been wondering about. Very tragic to have Nanbu die right as Joe is losing his first match back. Liu just overpowered him after Joe had been out of the ring for so long. I hope that Joe and Sachio and the rest of the kids can repair their relationship but we'll see.

First of all, Liu is very hot! Now I can't hate him when he defeat Joe. Judging from his name, I kinda expect him to look more Chinese, but he's more of American. I'm wondering if Megalo Box is based in real world location? Everything look fictional so far.

Now, the match is too short as always, but it's very effective, especially the music. I can't wait when we get the full match, it's gonna be adrenaline orgasm.

How can I praise this? Let's say, I watch over 30 anime in this season alone, and only two anime are cut from different meat, human meat, dare I say. Nomad and Odd Taxi.

Really bugging me how they’re all finding fault in Joe’s actions, like everything is his fault. Give the man a break. They’re not the only ones suffering, if anything Joe was hit the hardest by everything that transpired.

I think if this show had come out 15, 20 years ago it would have become the stuff of legend. This kind of storytelling and characterization has a hard time getting proper traction with current anime viewers.

Awesome to see Joe fight again sucks he lost tho would love to see him win but on the bright side it makes it more believeable it's not like a shounen where the main protagonist always wins.

Love what they did to Sachio in Nomad they turned him into a badass and has a hairstyle kinda similiar to Joe from Ashita no Joe since Megalo Box is made with Ashita no Joe in mind i'm not suprised

It's been a LONG time since I posted in an episode forum, jeez. Anyways another fantastic Nomad episode, this season has been really solid for proving what it's worth.

First of all, before I get into any details, I wanna ask something, is Oicho a trap?! I never really cared about the other kids (wait Oicho is a girl?) back in S1, but just like shows like AoT, the sequel is shining the spotlight for these other side characters. Bonjiri has a resto now, but it is in trouble because Sachio fought against some bullies, and now the resto is in trouble, damn it Sachi.

Joe just so happens to hear this, and went far to fight a rigged match to save their business. But instead of actually improving their relations a bit, this upsets them, especially Sachio who hates rigged fights. Too bad that Joe is shunned away like that, but it is to be expected since he was gone for 5 years rn. And Sachio was the one who pushed Joe away, which Joe, after losing his fight and Nanbu, agreed. And thats why he became a Nomad.

I find this season way more better than the first season. The fact that in the flashback, instead of showing Joe down after a punch, and dragging it long for him (with the help of plot armor) to go up again, it just shows us those 10 seconds go by instantly. And that there just shows the difference between S1 and S2. Damn I love this, and we now reached the halfway point, the path to redemption is still a rough one for Joe.

Sachio lost my respect with this episode. Basically Sachi added insult the injury, with Joe being so down already, that he complied and left. Then made people hate Joe.

Second get himself in a situation he couldn't handle by himself. And honestly,Joe intervention was the optimal and only good way out.

Partly Joe lost to Liu, because he got a news that helped a lot mentally before a fight.

I think joe made the bad call to agree with sacchio words to leave them, joe should've know that sacchio was just angry at everything and at him. He just needed to keep his distance for a while not just abandon them completly.

Like some here I too thought ochio was a boy but became a cute girl, sacchio and santa became handsome guys, the years did good to them.

Unless there's more to be revealed, I can finally say that Joe's fault was only taking Sachio's harsh words at face value.
Like someone else already said, he should have just kept his distance for a while because reconciliation with the ''family'' was still possible; fleeing on the other hand was a bad decision

Now, regarding Sachio; this guy is absolutely out there, he has become an emotional landmine that can't be set straight with just a talk or two.

But he really pulled a whole avatar... "And when they needed him the most, he vanished". He had good intentions 5 years ago but he really let his priorities slip. He should've spend his last days with pops with everyone else but didn't. I guess he really couldn't accept pops dying after everything they went through in season one which was a wild ride. The kids are completely justified for the way they treat Joe. Joe is also justified for the depression he felt for losing pops. But leaving for 5 years? That was bad. Because of that he's basically back where he started like wayyy back. No friends, no family, no money, nothing. What's next? Who knows? All i know is that it's time for Joe to get back in the ring, get his money back, settle down, earn the kids trust back and restart the school they opened before pops death.

And damn i respect this show for being a characters first show always. Even know I'm not really too invested in the other kids besides sachio i still want to see what the outcome is gonna be.

First, Mio and now Sachio, this show is kinda coming hard at kids with bad attitudes.

I'm not entirely convinced, but considering the parallel they created with Joe's final match before he ran away, and then this most recent match, I have to wonder if both were fixed, and not just the one from this episode. Though, based on Joe's general reaction at the end of the previous fight, that's sorta the only thing making me think otherwise.

It's just this series has always had that sorta, "You'll make real money if you go with fixed fights" theme going on. So, is it possible Joe lost that fight for the bigger money to give to Pops medical bills and such? I dunno, guess we'll see. I might just be thinking too much into it.

Anyway, I have no idea where the heck we're going from here. Halfway through the series, I get the feeling Joe doesn't intend to try and reclaim his Championship Title.

Second, this was an amazing episode. This season is getting better and better as each episode passes, I can't wait for next season. I didn't have too much hopes in this second season but holy fuck is it good. Amazingly good so far.

Candidate for AOTS, for sure. Ridiculously underrated.

AotS for sure. Having said that, those who say "Joe left just because Sachio told him so" are missing the point. Joe was avoiding to see Nanbu because he couldn't bring himself to face the reality of him dying, so he clung to the fantasy of prolonging his life by using the prize money that he was supposed to get by winning the exhibition match. It was his way of setting things right in his head, even if it was an unrealistic expectation, but after losing the match Joe was left with no choice but to face the reality of Nanbu's' death.

After that Joe was looking for an excuse to escape because he was blaming himself after how things turned out, and Sachio gave that excuse to him, that's why Joe simply left without even talking to others. Sachio also secretly blamed himself for Joe's departure and even though he knew he is not a good fighter he started boxing to punish himself. This show is all about reading between the lines as things are not spoon-fed to the viewer unlike most other shows today.

Though, I could have done without all that "a couple of guys who are up to no good enter the place where our main characters are sitting and they provoke them and create trouble" cliché trope. Seriously, the whole store deed subplot felt a bit forced and Joe throwing the match to take the deed back was predictable.

Anyway, I am guessing in the future episodes Joe will return to Megalo Boxing in order to win the prize money so he can rebuild the gym. But I am guessing instead of being "gearless" Joe he will start using Chief's gear while fighting. I just hope the last fight would be more satisfactory compared to the first season's last fight.

Joe coming back felt so badass in the moment (especially with his long hair and all his scars) but so wrong afterwards, it feels like Joe's chances of reconciling dwindle every episode. It seems everyone on both sides were at fault.

This isn't important but Oicho was a girl? Anyways great episode as usual.

Joe practically saved Sachio's life by taking his place in that fight and even managed to put to good use what he learned from Chief's words in order to get Bonjiri's shop papers back.

Overall, another well-executed episode. Only problem I have is with Sachio and how absurdly huge his hatred towards Joe is. The kid was the first one in wondering if there was something they could do to save Nanbu's life and when Joe started doing something, the poor dude got yelled at. Not to mention that now it was revealed that Joe actually didn't runaway like a coward (well, not entirely) but got ordered by Sachio to basically disappear from their lives. And of course, as emotionally destroyed as Joe was after not being able to win for Nanbu (save his ex-coach's life, based on train of thought), the poor man had no other option but to accept and leave. Yes, it was the easy way out for him to take but what else can someone expect when tragic events get your life crushed in such a way?

Man, this episode has me crying, this season has been so amazing. The way Joe decided to handle things with the kids was probably for the best, taking back what he's lost is impossible, but if he can just protect what's there, then that's the best choice right now.

I am sure Sachio didn't mean what he said back then, he was just really emotional. But, we know how Joe is, he's kind of immature, he took those words at face value. Thanks to Chief though and his people, Joe was definitely able to mature a lot. I wonder when Joe will use Chief's gear, I am sure it will be an amazing moment.

I am really loving the kids and their characterization, it's fantastic. Never expected Oicho to be a girl though up until the last episode and she grew up to be really beautiful too. Really looking forward to the next episode.

I think Joe himself was very self-doubtful at the moment - both in letting kids down with the fight lost, and not being with Nanbu in his last moments. That, coupled with his favorite kiddo rejecting him in disdain, could very well lead Joe to conclusion that it would be better for orphans without him around. A dumb decision (could've at least discuss it with everyone), but probably an understandable one.

Blimey. Each episode just doesn't make it easy for Joe. I really feel bad for the guy because they don't understand what he went through and at the sametime Joe didn't fully understand the consequence of he's actions. Can't wait to see Joe proper get back into the ring though.

This show is so good! The writing’s mature and every scene makes an impact.

But Joe is full of it. How you let a literal child run you out? Sachio didn’t speak for the other kids who would’ve loved and expected Joe to stay. Joe wanted an excuse. I understand he was going through his own grief, but he needed to realize Sachio was an irrational child speaking out of frustration.

I think if Joe hadn’t been gone so long (5 years). They may have been more understanding.

well considering that Sachio is still a little shit, I don’t think Joe had much choice. He also couldn’t live with his own failure so I think that’s part of why he left too. By far one of the strongest elements of this show is to show how the idea of myth can build up and tear down the very foundation. Joe being willing to take an L this episode for the sake of these kids shows how much he has grown. He’s finally thinking about what benefits everyone and not about his own legend.
