THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Wow, this is something I didn't expect, they cut the previous episode's scene with Sawaki to do a full backstory and explanations about Acca and Ura-Acca's backstory, so they were scientists and they "created" a little girl and from what I understand she's the real antagonist of the show (?) that backstory was sure shocking with how the wife and the daughter died (especially the hairdryer part, that's harsh) and so it's because of this girl (I don't know her English name the one in my version was translated xD) that they created the Wonder Egg, it's becoming more and more interesting to be honest, I don't really know what to expect for the last episode but I can't wait now with these revelations

If i got it right - Fril, because of a jealousy, was giving all those girls a desire to die, so those cases are not a "real" suicide. But if they can't revive anyone, then what is a purpose of Wonder Eggs? To let deceased girls pass in peace?

The original speculation was that this show is about how to accept the suicide of loved ones and move on.

I havent watched the episode, i cant considering my country, but i will say one thing, the next episode is most likely NOT the final episode. The recap wasnt planned thats almost a fact, its very likely that the actual final episode will only get released with the blue ray, similar to what happened to kekkai sensen in the past.

I didn't expect the backstory to be so dark, the artificial daughter with the sound of the lips really gives me the creeps
We will see what will happen in the next episode

Even if there are still two episodes left, which I'm going to assume there aren't, isn't it a bit too late to go full 'it was the evil jealous AI Frill whose namedrop only happened last episode all along?' Shove in a signature move of the 'dangerous nymphet' now too, why not? How else will the audience know that Ura-Acca can tell Frill is behind it? Even if not too late for some, isn't it too cheap? Even if not too cheap for others, doesn't it conflict with what the show had established so far?

Bored adult men create gelbanana teenager girl to fend off stress. Gelbanana girl is a little naughty nymph that gets jealous at one of the adult man's wife and unborn daughter. Gelbanana girl does the bad things and gets locked in the basement. Gelbanana girl wants to get attention and becomes Lain, influencing the outside world through the b i g i n t e r n e t p l a c e to make teenager girls act super sexual do her knock-off Lolita lip pop and kill themselves. I wonder if Ura-Acca checked for a synth component when he took her for a walk in the park. Todd Howard must be behind this bug.

Gelbanana girl was the villain all along... allegedly, so I guess the logical conclusion is that AI's go wild when made to resemble teenager girls, those pesky creatures. Bottom line: don't give your sex dolls emotions and stuff.

Edit: I acknowledge that 1) the Accas could be lying; 2) we don't know Frill's full motivation/means of operation yet; 3) maybe Frill isn't even the culprit; 4) the show wants to touch very lightly and then mess up what means to be a human, like they did with every other theme so far; 5) maybe they're going for a jebait to say the Accas should also try to accept their losses as well, instead of blaming others and going on insane crusades to correct perceived 'mistakes', when maybe Frill isn't even behind the 'allure of death' at all, but they can't accept sometimes people commit suicide; and 6) this post was over the top, but the sentiment is still the same.

The jealous AI/artificial human culprit... biggest of oofs.

Holy shit the episode was so good but damn it was dark. Gave me chills down my spine. Got to see some backstory on Acca and Ura-Acca. They were scientists who created a girl, technically an A.I. But, oh my god that was some dark shit.

lots of off-model drawings in this episode than usual they are having production problems really

i guess episode 13 will be on the bluray since the sakuga community said the production of the final episode has not started yet

but great episode so they created an AI girl that was jealous if they get closer to other girls eh and worse that happen is that the AI girl Frill is trying to kill all the girls too with the temptation of death

Momo and Rika are now kinda too scared to fight so its only Neiru and Ai that can fight the AI Frill

Ai vs AI is the finale i guess

Uru and Acca neglect Frill the first time, and Acca's baby mama gets killed out of envy.

They now abandon Frill the second time around, and are surprised that she's killed Acca's daughter out of envy 😐

They even said it themselves that she is AI, so I don't know why they are so angered and shocked at that same AI, when they're the literal ones who programmed her (not to mention that all of her socialisation would've been through them, since she was kept isolated from anyone else all of her life.

I think Frill gave them more of a final push, a "Temptation of Death". Maybe the purpose of Eggs is so girls can understand death and suicide better so that they could resist that Temptation.

Also, thank you show for making cute girls doing lip pop into something creepy and terrifying!
well that's just my opinion.....

such a well done backstory on ura and acca. i especially like ura's character. awesome episode. frill is scary and i can't believe that acca lsot both his wife and daugther... shame tthat she became attracted to ura.

still confused on if frill was the one who caused the daughter's suicide, is frill somehow temtping people to kill themselves or soemthing?

Yea uhhh, i dont know how to feel about this episode. As an individual episode, its honestly pretty decent, the production quality was still pretty good (besides some strange models), the direction was actually stellar, it really elevated the episode. I started liking the acca´s a lot more, their story was truly hard to watch, and it made me really feel for them. I was actually one of the people that thought they WERENT evil, which im glad they are not, it would be somewhat cliche if they were.
Now for the things i did not like, first rika just "saves" her friend just like that? It felt really rushed. Another thing i did not like is how they are trying to create a reason for the suicides with a AI villain... like seriously? If they started the show with that premise it wouldnt be as bad, but thats not what they did. And lastly how the hell will they end this?? First, we still need to know what happened with the conversation between Ai and the professor, and we still need to know how to kill an AI god?? My expectations are quite low right now, not gonna lie.

I'll have ptsd whenever someone does that sound with their lips now.

They revealed a lot of things in this episode. They made a cute girl called Frill but things didn't go as they expected. I really want to know how Frill became like that and the other things that they haven't explained yet. I don't know if they can explain all the mysteries with the amount of episodes left but it'll be a great show if they manage to.

Frill went full Lain by the end?

Part of me thinks that the whole "temptation of death" and Frill directly or indirectly causing these suicides is a matter of wishful thinking and hope on the part of the Accas. A way to simplify it to the point where if you stop Frill, then suicides stop, or at least go way down. Frill seems like she purposefully engages Urra-Acca for attention near the end.

But on the other hand, I wonder how Dot and Hyphen get into the egg dreams. Surely it must be Frill, but then there is the question of why they only show up after the "mission is cleared"? What is Frill's interest? Or is she just a psychotic AI?

I think this episode was absolutely brutal, and on its own, very strong. My one real worry is that there is so much left to cover, and so much that probably won't get any exploration (i.e. Rika's reaction to Dot), and clearly not a lot of time left in the series.

If you think about it it is kind of there fault that the wife was killed, they seemed to stop spending time with frill and they haven't actually taught her to not be that jealous and like told her about emotions and stuff. after killing the wife (Forgot her name lol) and after they just abandoned her wasn't the best choice since they should've realized that they made her too powerful and by not teaching her and neglecting her could lead to bigger problems

where exactly were the off models shots? Unless you are talking about smear frames, I really didn't see any off model shots .
The difference from the past eps you could say is the fact they aren't doing as much ambitious stuff anymore , especially the action scenes . But that's hardly a complaint .

Yeah... I did not like this episode

I don't get why they would just introduce this villain at the last minute when we only have 1 episode left. This can't actually be the end right? If there's a second season planned then I will be willing to give this a chance since that will give time for everything to be fleshed out more, but if next week's episode is truly the end I will be so fucking disappointed.

Woah, okay this episode went to a turn that I didn’t expect it to do. A little bit of a backstory episode with Ura and Acca, there was a lot of dark moment in this episode that I wasn’t expecting tbh, but it was very well done. After hearing Ura and Acca backstory I kinda feel bad for them now, they been through so much. What I understand in this episode is that the Ai went evil and killed the off the daughter, and now people are committing suicide because of her, which I’m assuming that what is happening? Correct me if I’m wrong. Overall, I really like this episode. I’m very curious about the last episode.
