Well, it's good to hear Satoko's voice again and some of her cherry personality during her phone call with Keiichi.

Satoko's return to the episode really brings out a lot of joy with her friends. She's just so lucky to have friends like Keiichi and the others who care about her when she needs them the most. It was also fun to see Satoko and them attending the local festival together although this arc still remains pretty tense.

Keiichi and his friends get support to help Satoko. Oishi is really annoying in this episode, I'm curious about all the members of the Sonozaki family. whether grandpa is a new character, I'm still confused. The Sonozaki family had completely overpowered Hinamizawa. But in the end, Oshi gave Keiichi a little help, not so bad. Talking to the mayor and checkingmates ... I like Onibaba-sama. Is that your feeling Satoko? Satoko-chan was finally saved, That's how I feel.

Matsuri has started, I like that bath scene, really. The club activity today is fun with everyone at the festival. I thought the dance and the music were really scary but Satoko held Keiichi's hand, is this...

What kind of tragedy, when visiting Satoko's house .... That bloody scene again. Why are Oji-sama's eyes red, is that Oyashiro-sama curse? Keiichi actually hit that guy's head, ugly bastard. Blooddddyyyy.....

It's like the Rena ending, Keiichi is still alive but .... They're dieeee, me too I don't understand Rena-chan.

Next Nekodamashi.

It was really wholesome until that ending. Wtf, I mean it's Higurashi right? So there will be some another mindf*ck moments. Next arc will be Nekodamashi-hen and I can't wait for some things to come.

The festival bonding after all the dramas ended sure is nice. But the highlight of the episode for me still is the ending-
Ah, this kind of ending. It's so Higurashi-es. Make me remember why I love the whole series again in the first place. Can't wait for the next arc.

All I have to say is what the fuck.

Soon as Satoko invited keiichi back to her crib I knew something was going to happen, but I wasn’t expecting THAT to happen. So did her uncle just get let out of police custody to take care of keiichi while oishi went on a mass shooting spree? That’s wild af.

Realistically though, we knew it was too early for things to be this happy, but damn it felt good seeing Satoko call Keichii “nii-nii” .

Christmas Eve pain.

This arc was trash, they wasted so many useless episodes on that.
They worked so hard, but in the end it did not matter at all.

The only thing that was cool to watch, was Keiichi killing his scumbag uncle.

Gladfully, with help from everyone in Hinamizawa the useless Child Welfare Center start to move. But, that's Higurashi for you, happy ending will not come that easy.....

When Keiichi walked into Satoko's house I knew something bad will happen. And it's really happening. Teppei deserves for what he has done to Satoko.

My guess is that Ooishi went L5 and the scene with Teppei is filled with unreliable narrator. Though it's possible level 5 Ooishi released him, given he's a cop?

The arc itself was honestly really bad.

Another case of Police brutality. But how could Satoko die when she was actually at her home? Did she go back to festival and got shot there?

No. It was very stressful and thoughtful arc. Tatarigoroshi is considered one of the heaviest arcs of Higurashi along with Meakashi for a reason. And in this case, the story played perfectly on our expectations, really deceiving everyone.

HEH, I CALLED IT! During Episode 10 (Part 3 of this Tataridamashi-hen arc) that Ooishi would be the one affected by Oyashiro-sama's Curse...what an asspull.

The Child Welfare Services still holding their fort against the Hinamizawa community, and IMMEDIATELY the Detective comes in to disrupt their street protest, albeit an attitude unbefitting of a police officer against Keiichi and Co., ALL WHEN Satoko's life is at stake and the tantamount danger with her abusive uncle Teppei increases with every passing moment. He's a bare-faced liar in this arc I TELL YOU...police brutality at its "finest", but they eventually made it through with black-and-white from Oryo and Akane Sonozaki, making this a hard-fought battle won.

The more I hear Satoko's faint voice in both confidence and fear, that was frightening at first, but all is over with Ooishi and the cops detaining Teppei to put this matter to rest for a happy ending (which is RARE in Higurashi), and celebrating their victory visiting the Watanagashi Festival.

Satoko thanking Keiichi and making him her "Big Brudder" is a nice conclusion...BUT...Teppei's "devilish resurgence" and being pummeled to death against Keiichi by a baseball bat...? And Ooishi shooting the rest of the main character cast (except Rena) to death...?

Confusion much...and the next arc: Nekodamashi.

Damn this was a solid arc. I was thinking of dropping the show but the latest arc with Satoko re-sparked my interest in the anime and it was very entertaining. But now we're back at square one, huh...

For how long will this cycle continue?

Arc begins ➜ stuff happens ➜ Rena says "blah blah-kana, kana!" ➜ Riku makes the very annoying "Mipaaa" sound ➜ watanagashi festival ➜ everyone dies ➜ new arc begins ➜ stuff happens (but now the story's focused on a different girl) ➜ Rena says "blah blah-kana, kana!" ➜ Riku makes the very annoying "Mipaaa" sound ➜ watanagashi festival ➜ everyone dies ➜ repeat

No it didn't lol, everyone expected a twist ending with everyone dying since it's what they did two times. If anything the ending isn't shocking enough, it barely showed anything and once again we are just told everyone died, with the main mystery barely progressing.

And this isn't even a Tatarigoroshi adaptation.

It was a really solid arc in my opinion. But the thing that really intrigued me this episode is that it seems that Rena knows a little too much by the way she is talking(possibly in the loop). In the OG the next arc was eye opening but in this it's cat deceiving . Now who the cat is referring to is the question

Holy shit, who would've thought that Ooshi would've jumped the gun and start shooting everyone? I feel so bad for Rena man, if I was in her shoes I'd think I'd go crazy too. To think she had to watch everyone get shot right after they had won is heartbreaking. Sakato's arc was always one of the most disturbing for me personally.

Onto the next arc!

For me this ep had so much tension/suspense. I KNEW the other shoe was going to drop, but they literally waited until almost 19 minutes in to finally do it.

Wait... How was Satoko killed AT the Wataganashi festival if she and Keiichi were at her house?

Some thoughts:

-Really shocked that since ep 2 there has been zero scenes of Rika on her own trying to figure things out in some way
-Disappointed that the F******? tease in the OP song so far has led to nothing (as well as the mystery girl? with the school uniform).
-Wondering if we will get a new OP for cour 2, or at least updated visuals for it (I know the new ED was announced)
-Wondering if the new "name for cour 2 will be confirmed soon
-Wondering if we are getting 2 more question arcs, 1 Q 1 A, or if cour 2 is answer arcs (tbh I want more content, so I would prefer them to all be Questions arcs)
-Was not expecting the next arc name to be Nekodamashi.
-The further this goes on, the more idk how a newcomer would really enjoy it. Most of my enjoyment so far has come from already knowing these characters and this world and seeing how these new arcs play on my expectations.

Well, I knew something was coming when things started to seem a little too good but this was clearly beyond my expectations.

Satoko-chan was acting very weird and I find it even more confusing that she was killed by Ooishi-san after Rika-chan's dance in the festival, judging by Rena's confession there. Was she part of the plan by any chance or was she killed when trying to warn the others about it?

Well, whatever the case, that was some display of gore in the final moments before the timeskip there. Some of the endurance level has been particularly questionable xD but the buildup and whatnot was pretty good.

On to the 4th arc from next year onwards. Yes, it hasn't been as good as the OG but I reckon it's been pretty good nonetheless. Here's to hoping the answer arcs will deliver to keep me feeling the same.

Merry Christmas to all, btw!

The 4th arc in the original story is Himatsubushi tho, Meakashi is the fifth one.
But i wonder if Nekodamashi has any relation to Nekogoroshi ova lol

WTF o.O

Being in the middle of the season and still missing Rika's arc it was obvious that this was going to end badly but I don't know, with how satisfying everything had been this last couple of episodes, for a moment I thought that this timeline could have a happy ending hahha... God fucking dammit, everything went to shit in an instant xD.

The uncle appearing out of nowhere to kill Keiichi and Ooishi going crazy killing everyone at the festival? What?! I guess it has something to do with the curse because the uncle sure looked possessed and why the hell would Ooishi do something like that? How can they win? I suppose they have to attack the source of the curse directly but how are they going to realize that if Rika doesn't speak at all and Rena seems tied to Oyashiro somehow. Oh well, the next arc should be Rika's so I guess we'll have some answers.

Also, what is that important thing for her brother that Satoko wanted to give to Keiichi? I don't know, that last part of their conversation was kind of weird.

This man, ryukishi TROLLED US AGAIN!

The first half of this episode rolled out almost like Minagoroshi, BUT ooishi was supposed to be the villain in the actual arc the anime was in (tatarigoroshi). Satoko was saved, everyone was enjoying the festival, even we got a wholesome scene with Satoko and K1...

but dang that uncle had to be hiding there in his house still, and a 1 on 1 massacre began. Seems like Ooishi let Teppei off (he was the villain, as intended), even that other officer with Ooishi did not mention anything after that bloody scene (the police were playing with em!).

But what the heck happened?! Ooishi gunning down the entire crowd?! This is new, I wouldn't have expected this to happen at all.

Even more so, I have never heard of "Nekodamashi" ever, and I watched the original series only a few months ago in August.

Lesson learned once again - don't get too comfortable watching or playing higurashi.

EDIT: oh my, just noticed - THAT'S WHY i felt really suspicious when they didn't show the police running into Satoko's home...

Holy heck what the hell?!

When I was watching it I really was like "Something is seriously wrong with how Ooishi is acting, he's not THIS bad, something seems really wrong with how he's acting."

So when everything happens it just made sense and I was going buck wild. Ooishi probably let the uncle out either willing or was too far gone.

Honestly I just want answers now, I'm so curious what the rules are here.

Every steps of Keiichi and the gang paid off as the CWS has given in to their plea to save Satoko. Oishi was a hell of a mothefucker though. After that, we hear Satoko again with a happy voice (aww)...then we get to the festival.

The moment I saw Satoko blushing to Keiichi as she now calls him "nii-nii". And she letting him in her room...ARE WE GETTING A HAPPY ENDING HERE BOIS. Too bad that out of nowhere, Teppei bashes Keiichi and he exchanged the blows as well in a very bloody fight.

We now see Keiichi in a hospital (again) and Rena decides to visit him. She's in a different uniform and she's asked of the whereabouts of their other friends. Unfortunately, all of them died during the festival with Oishi actually going on a rampage.

Damn and I thought this is the most pacifist Higurashi arc I've watched so far. Too bad I'm wrong and we're treated with Rena's, "We worked so hard for a perfect ending. I can't understand at all". Me too Rena, I am dying here with this episode.

Next arc will be something of a Neko?...Ok maybe it'll be interesting (I'm a new fan). Also we're getting the second OP and ED by next episode, I'll miss the first ones for sure.

Yeah, pacing is pretty terrible. I get they're "hiding" things because this is technically the question arcs, but unless one was paying very close attention to the last couple of episodes despite their talky nature, it just comes off as pointless and boring. Sometimes I wonder if Ryukishi even knows what he's doing anymore.

I was just waiting for that brutal "Got'cha! LOL" ending, and even then I think it's a "WTF" kind of ending, and perhaps not in a good way. I am not a fan of the idea of Teppei falling victim to Hinamizawa Syndrome because that humanizes him a tiny bit when he was always a scumbag abusive human who got his just desserts.

The idea of Ooishi falling victim could work, but I'm honestly failing to see how. The closest connection he had to the curse was that the denizens believed him to be Oyashiro's messenger in that he pretty much picked/marked the victims. Even then, it was still shaky at best in the original because he was actively trying to solve such cases.

I dunno, I wish Shion got involved more with this arc. Would've made it too close to the "Exorcism" chapter, but it would've at least been something. Yeah, not a fan of this arc, and I actually really adore "Tatarigoroshi-hen" despite its heavy subject matter. To see this go more down the route of "Massacre" only to go "Psych! lel" just because of strange police circumstances kinda doesn't sit well with me.

Next arc might play out a bit more original since we're not getting a "Time-Deceiving" chapter like the pattern suggested, but it may still end up being two episodes as "Cat-Killing" was relatively short itself.

I've been watching a lot of youtube theories about this season, and one theory that has come up many times is that Hinamizawa Syndrome might not exist in Gou. (Not exactly sure how that would work, but it definitely hasn't been presented in the same way as past series).

Og ended with Rika at least teasing that she is fully aware of what is happening but now the arc just ended with the usual stuff but different actors.

Oh dang... I wasn't expecting that at all.
I'll be thinking of this episode for a while.

The next arc is named "Nekodamashi hen" and I like the name for that arc. My first thought regarding it was the Nekogoroshi OVA (all the arcs have had "goroshi" switched to "damashi") but that's a side story so I highly doubt it lol.

I've been looking forward to the second cour for a while now cause we didn't know what exactly it would be. But with the way the first 3 arcs in cour 1 played out, it's a high possibility that the second cour would be the answer arcs. Similar to the original.

I think we're gonna get a new ending on episode 14 or 15 which is a bit sad since I'm a big fan of the current ending but oh well. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

There hasn't been any news regarding a new opening (yet) so it's a 50/50. The original and Kai kept the same opening throughout the 20+ episodes so Gou might follow that as well. I kinda want a new opening though tbh.

I enjoyed this episode and can't wait for episode 14.
