Once you get over the fact that there is no plot (which should happen in the first or second episode), this anime gets very entertaining. No metaphors, no hidden meanings, no undertones. Just people beating the shit out of each other. If there's one thing I'm disappointed with in this series, it's the fact that it still has all those cliché moments like a fighter walking away thinking he's victorious when suddenly, to his surprise (and the audience's surprise) his opponent stands up. But hey, it's a fighting anime, so you can't really expect those moments to be there. =P I deeply enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the 2nd season. 8/10

This isn't exactly the best story for telling but imo delivered its purpose for the way the characters' roles were portrayed. Excellent coordination of action scenes and expressive moments. Feels cliches on some parts but ultimately nailed it imo.

Looking forward to season 2.

It amazing who's with old animation like that the fight are so epic
For a sport anime I think the plot is not bad.
9/10.

That punch destroyed Kureha.
It was nice seeing that the girl can walk now, and she even gave Kureha some of her blood.

Kureha dominates after going serious but gets cocky and baki pulls a win.
Kureha got his punishment and the patients also realized they are at fault.
Now baki goes to meditate to find himself 8/10

Loved Kureha's character :P that ending tho! ''Patients aren't healed by the doctor's technique. It's the patients desire to get better''

Kinda ironic that few episodes ago Kureha is "preaching" about big useless muscles
And Baki smaller body just K.O'ed him

Ain't that humiliating for a doctor who's supposed to help patients :P

That Gotai jutsu was a great finishing blow to Shinogi, too bad it was used on him and not to Baki's father. I felt Shinogi's villainy was forced though, it didn't feel real. I mean the guy saved Orochi, how can he just be a villain like that. Also why did Yasuko come to Baki for justice if she was going to say she didn't want anyone to suffer? Why also Baki was furious about Shinogi's deeds and decided to play hero for Yasuko, but later said he didn't do it for her but for himself? Isn't that a bit of a conflict. Shinogi needing transfusion and Baki wanting to show the victims his suffering was vile and mean. But I still want to see the final battle between him and his dad, so I'll watch season 2.

Overall the pacing was off pretty bad. It tried to mimic Hajime no ippo in some instance and felt like a try hard series. The conflicted characters made me hate it a lot, like the mother- I'm glad the bitch died though. Also what's up with Baki befriending every guy he fought, I thought that was lame. What happened to Kaoru in the second half? How did Baki get to live in Kozue's house, it was sudden and totally out of the blue! But the fights were coordinated well though and the art.

5/10

Imagine going for a walk and looking at the sun and seeing your dad's demonic muscles such is the life of baki
Looks like the patients of Kurega had given up any hope before actually trying, he wasn't so bad after all
Baki's punch must have hurt like hell, damaging your stomache....
Onto the second season!

The last few episodes have seen a lot of people get picked up and thrown by their open mouth / cheek. I wonder why that became a thing.

Decent show. Most of the fights were entertaining and ridiculous in a good way. The soundtrack was pretty neat too.

Time to check out the second season, hopefully Baki will be strong enough to beat Yuujiro by then.

For a final episode, it's okay. But pretty predictable. I started watching this after watching the first 10 episodes of season 3 on netflix. The fights get pretty brutal there, so knowing that makes me wanna go on to season 2. I would personally rate this season about 6.5/10. The story is pretty weak at times, but I have hopes that season 2 will be more interesting. This series is all about people getting punched superhard in the face anyway, that's pretty cool. Here's to hoping season 2 has more of that brutal action!

EDIT: I came back from the future. Season 2 isn't good. It's pretty bad. My advice would be "go directly to season 3". Or if you're like me and absolutely have to get the whole story then... Good luck my friend, you're going to need it!

I knew it, the doctor was right the whole time. The girl just gave up on her own. She didn't go to rehab probably.

This anime aired: Jan 9, 2001 to Jun 26, 2001. It is now May 29, 2020. That's 19 years later. Is there even coming a season 2? Lots of stuff remain unexplained or untold and the episode in no way seems like it was meant to be the last episode

One of the dumbest anime I've seen, but nevertheless somehow incredibly enjoyable. Wasn't gonna watch season 2, but the last two episodes changed my mind.

This fight was perhaps my favorite so far, although I'm guessing that won't be for long.

This ending was very uprubt but the fight itself was very good. I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but I feel like 13 yo Baki was more exciting

I loved it. Also the Soundtrack is very good.
I'm watching S2 right now! Personally i prefer 13y/o Baki over this one.
Baki looked so badass back then.
The fight was good, baki delivered a fatal punch, and Yujiro knows baki is stronger now.

UNDERGROUND ARENA ARC - END

Yeah, post-time skip stuff rules. Loved every boxing match in this arc, Baki is such a badass, and damn, again, Yujiro is scary as shit.

That's the end of this season, halfway through Part 1 already!! Heard the next arc is great so I'm super excited for that!!

Of course Baki got the nurse, and he could revenge on his victims, well deserved hopefully he'll learn from that... now Baki has still a long way before getting his revenge on his father.
