Known for his deep and strong voice, Ishizuka was known to voice Heihachi Mishima from the Tekken game franchise as well as Yukinari "Professor Oak" Ookido and the narrator of the Pokemon franchise. Some of his other notable projects also include being the voice behind Mr. Satan from the Dragon Ball series, Kaguraba Raihou Gramstahl from Chaos Dragon: Sekiryuu Seneki, Sylvester Asimov from Terra Formars, Donovan Baine from Vampire Hunter, Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop, and more. He has voiced Dino Golzine from Banana Fish and Kane Ibrahim Hasan from Juushinki Pandora as well, both of which are currently airing. Japan has no age reckoning. That's China and Korea.

"kazoedoshi (数え年), was rendered obsolete by law in 1902" (quote from wikipedia)

Modern China does not use this age reckoning since 1970s. Only in South Korea.

I don't like that a golden generation is dying off so soon. Especially from something like cancer, just... fuck cancer.

Rest in peace, sir, you'll be missed dearly.

HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!

RIP to a man who voiced a lot of iconic characters. Idk how much longer we'll hear his voice on Banana Fish, but I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

It's a damn shame that he was taken so early due to esophageal cancer (of all reasons). Dude was an absolute legend in voice acting, one of my all-time favorites.

I wish his family the strength to get through this.

Oh, no.

The last recording of his I heard was the recent season of Gintama where his character Kozenigata was doing pig squeals. His voice was strong as ever, even then. I had no idea he was battling cancer.

He had a wonderful voice to listen to, powerful but also agile enough for emotion and different pitches. My favourite role of his was the inimatable senior Joseph Joestar.

Thank you Mr Ishizuka. May your soul rest in peace.

EDIT: And he could sing beautifully, too.

I’m not trying to be nitpicky but his birthday was 16.5.1951, which means he turned 67 just a couple months ago. Unless that information was originally wrong where I looked it up at first.

Let's just use the information given by Aoni Production official site because there's no birth year listed for his profile. Even though there are some other sources listed as 67 years old, he might used kazoetoshi since before the abolition as some users before us mentioned.
