Constantine : The Anime

Not Bad actually

But

>Set in Vatican.

I felt the same vibes from that TV show where Miracles can't be obtained such glory with thy honor

So when a half-breed breaks the rules, I deport their sorry ass straight back to hell. I don't get them all,
but I've been hoping to get enough to ensure my... retirement. (Gonna make reference for that)

Hope to see more of that.

I was expecting some heresy. :c

The theological research seems quite superficial, thus not interesting enough. Picking other types of miracles could have been more interesting.

Also, I had to do some effort to keep paying attention to the episode. Dropped.

Interesting...a very strange premise and a dark and mysterious aura surrounds this anime. I wasn't really sure what to expect out of this anime and after one episode I still don't really know what to expect out of this anime...could it take a more detective path or a darker mystery suspense path or perhaps even a bit of horror IDK but I'm intrigued enough to give it a shot for a little while to see what this anime can do with a concept that is different from most anime you will watch. Could be good...could be bad...we will just have to wait and see.
I shall rule over the realms of anime and manga! Mwahhahahahaha!!!

This was better than I expected, but I can't handle the names. Unless the place the examiners went to is international, they should have chosen Latin American names. The pace is also too fast, let's hope it gets slower next episode.

Not sure yet. I liked the char design and the buildings. Bit weird though to have huge western buildings in that south america ... but they tried to explain it a bit with the millions that church there got which they used to built stuff.

I guess this will be episodical ... 1-2 episodes per story/arc with them explaining "miracles" with normal science so they won't harm the church. (But of course the old stuff from back then thousand years ago and the bible will stay accepted as miracles by the church. :D )

Depends on how interesting the stories will be.

With the archbishop Saul ... ha ha I had to think of Better Call Saul.

Well its a bit hard to review a mystery show when i don't know how they solve it yet.
but regarding how they set everything up, yea, they tried to get through too many things too quickly, especially since this was the first episode. I'll be sticking with it though since i really like the premise and it hasn't done anything really wrong yet.

A very mysterious anime with some scary scenes and for me it's very complicated like i did understand everything but i still got the feeling that's going to be even more complicated ... Anyways the Op is kinda cool the characters are well introduced not all of them just the main for now and the story is good and catchy , I found it boring at the first but the second half of the episode was pretty exciting , I think Hiraga's really smart and good with his job and i have a hunch that he's going to do something significant later in the anime so that's why i'm giving this anime 3 or 4 more episodes and i hope it becomes more mysterious and more intresting not some boring shit , Looking Forward !!!!

Idk a lot of people seem to dislike this. I thought it was really good! The art wasn't anything special but it at least has my interest. It's a nice break from the moe blob light novel adaptations that usually dominate every season of anime.

Intriguing. The kids seem to know something about what's going on, not to mention all those attempts by the priests and nuns to silence the security guard.

Makes me wonder just what the plot behind everything is. Love these Kindaiichi-esque Murder Mysteries.

I'm baffled by the score this has. While it's no trascendental masterpiece, it seems like a solid show with mix of supernatural/mistery and a good OST.It reminded me of the live action film Stigmata from some years ago. Same premise roughly.

Maybe it has the low score because the cast is all adult? No shounen protagonist or loli's to fuss over?

I have a mixed feeling about this show so far.

On one hand, there seems to be a potential for good stuffs down the road. The premise seems solid, the cast so far seems nice, and setting is definitely decent. Depending on how good the writer is, I can see that this show can become quite a something.

On the other hand, something about this first episode just feels a little off. Maybe it's just me, and I'm having hard time putting it into words, but it just feels a bit... ham-fisted? As someone already said on previous page, the flow of the episode seems all over the place... and I found it to be a bit difficult to watch. Hopefully that can be arranged and fixed for subsequent episodes.

Well, I guess I should keep watching and see where it goes. I certainly don't think that it's a bad show, but I wouldn't call this a stellar take-off either.

The last 3 mins went by pretty fast but other than that, I must have watched the wrong show because this was nowhere near as bad as some people in this thread made it out to be

The tone isn't bipolar and is pretty much what most expected it to be which is a huge plus, the leads aren't half bad and the way the Catholic Church is presented combined with the OST (I had a field day when Ave Maria started playing lol) is pretty standard as well

The best parts was the mystery and dark elements and I'm hoping that the show continues to portray it like how it did in this episode....I feel like the suspects right now are either the Security Guy, Francisco and the sausage lady or those 3 kids

Good start overall

This is just too shitty

The camera angle is sometimes wobbly and changes angle needlessly, the pacing is shit even for a first episode.

The plot is all over the place and it didn't even know what to focus on..even for a first episode

This anime gave me chills. However, I do applaud how well-set out everything is, there's these little details everywhere that seem relevant to the story. My prediction so far is that

I'm very interested to see how everything fits together. I'm hoping that there is a logical explanation behind everything, because saying 'oh it turns it god was the cause after all' is a bit of a cop-out. I have an idea of what could be the cause, and I kinda hope I'm right and wrong at the same time

The only jarring problem I find is the pacing. Sure, there's some scenes that are just... odd, out of place, but that adds to the mystery vibe. Hopefully everything slows down as time goes on.

A strong start to the series.
And their first case really was pretty interesting. Funny how a straightforward investigation eventually tied one into corruption at the church and eventually murder as well. The plot and the setting both look to be pretty interesting as well. The first case is proving to be most interesting though. Hmm two miracles in one case though wow.

Hmm what a strong start to the series. Murder right off the bat eh. Hmm was Hiragi trying to figure out all the moves that will allow him to win in that game then. Its sad that a kid so young has such a disease though. As expected faith plays a large part in this as in the church. The job of a miracle investigator must be an interesting job. Their first case is pretty interesting. Yea Richness and Glory really are things that devil worshipers believe they can attain from their beliefs. A church that has a boarding school attached eh. Hmm talk about a familiar sign. Hmm a nun being made pregnant by a archangel eh. I like the pairing of a scientist that follows evidence and facts and an investigator who investigates based on evidence and knowledge.

Rated this a 3/5. Will watch ep 2 and decide.

It's distracting to see a southern Mexico church mission that looks like it's in Germany. Not that anime has to be a history lesson - it's fun to see Shoukoku no Altair's take on the Ottoman Empire, even though it's totally unrealistic. But there is so much to work with. Do a Google Image search for "central american churches" and "mission revival style architecture" to see what I'm talking about. Come on Japan, central america needs your tourism!

Fun fact: when Hiraga is emailing Lauren (in Italian - good job) his email subject headers are blurred, but if you look closely you can tell that they're actually the English Wikipedia entry for "Ragnar Lodbrok".
...but then again, I unironically like Warau Salesman.

Pretty much just watched this to see how they would pull the Catholic part, being a Catholic myself. I was pretty surprised to see how realistic some faith-centered elements were, although some were almost to the point of cheesiness (pointing out all the martyrs, etc)
Could be interesting, although the writing seemed a bit iffy at times and there were some awkward scene jumps.

I thought the beginning was a bit boring, but this did pick up in the second half. I'm not a Catholic, but I'm familiar with some of their beliefs, so this felt like a decent start.

I did get some shounen-ai vibes here and that hot dog scene makes me think that the nuns and priests like to partake in extracurricular activities.

Not a bad start, but we'll see.

I'm always excited to see Christianity in anime, even though I expect blatant fucking up at all times.

I'm surprised to see that this show isn't fucking up at all. I love that they're showing priests work and also that they're combining modern science with their work, which isn't new, but apparently surprising to some people as I've seen.

The art style is giving me some serious 2008 anime vibes, which I like. Makes it feel a little cheesy. The OP is great too btw.

Can't wait to see more of this. I wish they'd just release all at once.
