THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
That was a tense episode.

I liked how this one focused more in Shiemi although she feels more insecure and also less trustworthy of Rin (since she found out about his identity). I have to admit though, her moments this episode almost felt a bit childish . Good thing Izumo was able to talk some sense into her. The episode did a decent job at building up more events for the arc. Should be interesting to see what's to come. The little bits of background storytelling has also been cleverly done imo for this arc so far.

KajiKaji's character is surprised at pink hair guy talking to main guy, and even introducing his brothers to him.

Meeting to gather information about the right eye, or rather, to find out betrayer. Everyone's suspect of that delinquent looking guy's parents.

Hanazawa-san's character being clumsy and worried about not being helpful to others.

Main guy trying to train to control his fire and lol @ how he did it, "hato poppo", unconsciously.

KajiKaji's character was also being worried about not being able to protect many people.

I don't read the manga. But seriously, the pacing seems to be a godlike level.

I love what they are doing, fleshing every possible character interaction out.

All this stuff about a possible traitor is very interesting as well. I still have no clue really who it could be really, they made everyone look somewhat suspicious.

Mamushi is acting suspiciously, I think Juuzou might be on the right track.

Rin still isn't getting anywhere with his training.

Good episode, mostly just buildup though.

I like how Rin is slowly getting the others to warm up to him again. It was also nice to see Izumo reassure Shiemi, I think Rin said the exact same thing about her being similar to a weed. xD
We've also got a traitor in the midsts, meanwhile Rin's control over his flames continues to be very erratic. Often with him showing maximum control when he isn't even trying to control it, like how both candles lit up when he wasn't even trying to do anything.

Wonder what Bon's dad was doing at the end. :o
Don't really have anything else to say but the PV for next episode looks damn hype.

Still so happy that Renzo is in good terms with Rin.
I wonder why Shiemi was thinking about Rin when she said she wanted to protect her friends.. She has been avoiding him and she still wants to protect him??

Very intense episode but I'm sure the next one will be even more, I can't wait!!

Not a bad episode of "Who done it?"

I was starting to suspect to stupid white haired girl who doesn't know how to shut up but now I'm not sure whether or not to suspect her go back to originally suspecting Bon's dad

Nice to see that Konekomaru might start to stop being an idiot and make up with Rin though....This episode makes me feel like a lot of people in this temple are gonna die when shit gets real

This episode really fleshed out this chapter of the manga. The anime so far is really following the manga and I just hope they keep up with this amazing pacing and still follow the manga 100%

Shiemi's like "Rin and Yukio didn't tell me their secret because I suck wahh" or it was because they figured you all would react about as badly as you did to the reveal but you know.

Also smh @ Koneko being all supportive of Bon with his shitty dad but Rin has to bear the weight of his father. I know the flames aren't helping but you can't deny there is a definite state of distrust for Rin himself just because of his parentage that isn't present for Bon.

Mamushi's relationship with her sisters is really, really weird. I appreciate her dad being willing to see his own daughter as a suspect since most people are defaulting to family lines above evidence, although the idea of there being a traitor could've been revealed much better (I don't get why there HAS to be one but w/e). I haven't gotten this far in the manga so we will see how it pans out.

Such a well done adaptation so far, ideal to my hopes for this season, oh shiemi I really want to like you I do, but aspects of your character just frustrate me so, and sadly you haven't changed from what I've read of the manga so far :/

It's great to see his friends starting to get along with rin now, had some funny moments.
PS I don't want to suspect bon's dad but that scene at the end was a bit fishy. The trailer of the next episode looks awesome, finally everyone will know who rin really is.

Not sure why this has been getting such a lukewarm reception; this has been incredible so far. The consistent pacing and character development has been fantastic and the animation and OST has been top tier imo. Not sure if this an unpopular opinion but I absolutely love this OP.

My love for Rin grows with each episode; Shima and Izumi have been great as well. Even Koneko, probably my least favorite character in this has so much potential to develop as the season continues.

That Juzo shade though, damn.

This is definitely one of the top 5 anime I look forward to each week!

Anime was the catalyst of my life's downward spiral.

SO PISSED WHEN RIN FINALLY LIGHT TWO CANDLES BUT DID NOT NOTICE!

Mamushi is pretty suspicious though when you compare it with Junzo. But Suguro's dad made me feel confused. He looked suspicious, but at the same time I have a feeling that he's a good guy.

Still kind of mad though on the fact that Suguro is still not trusting Rin. Although Koneko and Shiemi are starting to trust him.

BUT where is Yukio??!! I MISS HIM SO BAD!

She's actually hating herself a lot for being how she is towards him right now. It skipped a part in the train back in episode 1 where Rin unleashed his flames to help her during a minor incident and the flames didn't burn her at all, as in didn't adapt it at all. So if anything, she should be fully aware Rin is a good person and that the flames aren't bad just because they're the same flames Satan has.

It's chapter 17 if you want to read the part they skipped.

They'll probably just slightly modify a scene to come in a few episodes since they skipped it.

Good episode, but Shiemi's thing about Rin and Yukio not telling her about the fact that Rin is the son of Satan has nothing to do with her being weak, and is more to do with the fact that they expected her to react as badly as she and everyone else ultimately did when they found out; for her to ignore the obvious facts like that is ridiculously moronic.

Nice to see those kids are slowly accepting Rin, even though he's not the one at fault for killing their families. It's not like Rin get to choose to be born as Satan's son.

And that last part, Bon's father seems fishy. But I don't know why, I don't see him being the "traitor" they're looking for. And I'm dying to know what his secret is, that he can't tell anyone, not even to his own son >.<

I don't think that the priest is the traitor, he looks more and more like a cool guy. The traitor is surely the white girl.
I really like that Rin is talking with all his old friends and succeed to change their minds on him, it feels more real.

She knows that he's a good person; she's much more hurt by the realization that she never knew about Rin's and Yukio's troubles. Shiemi finding out about Rin's true identity meant for her that she wasn't supposedly as close to the two as she thought she was (which is actually not true, but she has yet to realize that) and it also further deepened her low self esteem issues; like an ultimate rejection or proof for her powerlessness (in a phyiscal way during the fight with Amaimon etc. and as a fellow exorcist but also a failure as an emotional support for her best friends; basically character- and abilitywise)
Because she feels that powerless and doesn't know how to become stronger / more reliable; she distances herself from Rin. It's more about herself really ~
(Obviously she's also partly scared just like everyone else just because of the demon part)
--------------

Also to this episode in general I feel that the manga was much more emotional and e.g. Kamiki's character felt somewhat different... Also that added bit when Kamiki notices Rin on the roof was weird and felt really out of place

I don't think Ryuji's father is the traitor, the final scene was fishy, but I don't think it will be that obvious (plus the preview seems to indicate he is not the actual culprit). I'm sure is Mamushi, whose behaviour was very fishy too.

The scene with Shiemi was weird. She was depressed and crying, then Izumo tells says her some ncie words and she returns to the normality. She sure recovers fast emotionally.

After Shima the previous episode, now is Konekomaru the one who will forgive Rin (apparently). It seems convincing Ryuji will take a bit more time, though.

Btw, Shura's outfit this episode, my God.

The truth about the right eyes might be relevead on next episode
So don't drop it too fast
