Sorry, you seem to have taken a wrong turn in the multiverse crossroads, this is the universe where BBM is a fetish and America isn't a totalitarian regressive state that engages in censorship as a national pastime (yet).

Might want to go back and ask for directions.

Japan way of writing fat people.

"LOL fat people are so silly and goofy guys!!!!"

That is how Japan writes fat characters.
I haven't updated in years but now I have changed that. I'll be free soon.

At least Senpai and Nishina aren't superficial characters like the rest of them, I suppose.

I just don't like her voice when she's fat. She sounds like she has a nasal problem.

There are skinny girls who HUGE voices like men and fat girls (and boys) with small, tiny voices. They're just being stereotypical I guess.

That applies to almost all minorities.

Oh come on they don't write all minorities like that in their animes. They do have a bad habit for making American characters dumb, stupid, and annoying. Fact in also being very stereotypical in design (Blonde hair blue eyes).

Nah.
I agree the voice change is annoying, but not because it says fat people are goofy/too chubby faced to properly speak; it's annoying because it sounds annoying.
I wouldn't waste time or emotion saying anything about this is "offensive".

It's too silly of a story to be argued if it's making so much of a statement as to force people to thinking fat people are unattractive.
People are going to think that and some aren't and this anime definitely isn't going to be what defines that preference. Even if it is, It's not the end of the world. Some bitches just ain't chubby chasers.

Ever heard of something called freedom of expression? Buzzfeed paints the picture that all men are evil on the basis that they are men, why does that logic not apply to that?

If anything, the reason minorities aren't very represented in anime and Japanese culture is the fact that only 1.5% of Japan's population is foreign born, even less are black/hispanic.

Something to think about.

Just watched ep1 this morning. Story seemed funny, but I didn't know the MC started as chubby character, so I expected she might slim down from her own effort or from a disease, but nope, the reason was pretty shallow, and her getting a whole lot of attention afterwards surely must make some people sad.

Ep1 ending with the boys knowing about her being an otaku (even if it was heartfelt how they saw her glow when she spoke about her hobbies) and ALL of them allowing it like is no big deal felt shallow because they ALL allow it because she is now a slim beauty and everyone wants to gang bang her. I'm not saying they should have ranted about it, at least one could have walked out slowly.

Anyway, some shoujo shows sure are weird and threat poorly girls self esteem.
