I take random friend requests, just tell me who you are if you add me on one of those so I know :)
I think the answer you're looking for is rather self-explanatory; if something is hyped because it has certain pandering qualities/shows a lot of potential then people will be more likely to overlook flaws throughout it's airing.
A reviewer would take into consideration every facet of the show when assessing the show, and the people who were put off by the show's issues while it was airing but couldn't place a name to their frustrations would suddenly feel relieved reading a review that details why they felt like it wasn't as good as everyone was making it out to be. The truth is, few things that get as popular as they do nowadays are rarely worth it. Usually, they're just filling a niche, like the isekai of the season Tate no Yuusha. It's a terrible show but the production values are good and we don't have any other isekai this season so it's getting all the attention. At the end of the season people will rightly tear it to pieces, but until then it's the hype train everyone's jumping aboard.
The most obvious example of this would be SAO, people loved it until someone pointed out the many many flaws it had. People do sometimes hate things just because they're popular (1/10 bots on every new season of Gintama and Jojo's), but it's far more common for them to have a reason.
yo lol MAL shat itself for like 23 straight days, that’s gotta be like a world record or something... who’s going’s to clean up all this goddam shit MAL??? oh well I guess it’s back up now, sort of. hopefully they have acquired some diapers so we don’t get another sweet surprise again.

Eh 2nd OP is ok, but I do like the idea of combining MLA's and ML's OP singers.
On the bright side at least Total Eclipse is now fully translated
My mean score is something, yes. Maybe before you had the same reaction.
