Ha, those stylish looking hair. Looks like Mari makes another journey of the past, nice.

I was not entirely expecting minutemen to attack this episode but looks like everything worked out in the end. Dat body armor.

Mari's dad was badass! Hopefully Waka does some time traveling too since she found that pendant.

Surprisingly good fight sequences as well as really sweet father/daughter moments. All in all a solid episode.

At the expense of the actual historical stuff. We didn't get to see much of Volta's time besides the War of the 5th Coalition. Hope they keep it to a minimum in the coming episodes.
I wish Cowboy Bebop never existed.

lots of Hilarious part in the episode unlike before. Mari's perfect-timing appearance, and now everyone thought Volta as a magician. Mari's dad "speech" to the Austrian soldier after Mari's disappearance.

The dad sub-plot ruined the episode. We didn't learn much about Volta's science.

It seems we skipped over most of Volta's stuff, but then again, it was kinda like landing your Tardis in the middle of a crossfire.

I don't really have much to say on the science this time around. Battery technology is overly dated. Much of our technology these days is held back by primitive battery tech, and the thermal limits of silicon computing. We need a realization of the Tesla net. The power is literally everywhere, every 'atom' is loaded with immense amount of power. If you do the math of basic matter-energy conversion, you could get enough energy in explosive force from say a typical brick to blow up a city. Even nuclear fusion don't get anywhere near that much efficiency.

The problem is however, as Eric Dollard would say "we would just burn up the planet," (he means that quite literally) because of our energy gluttony.

Electrochemistry is the world of plasma physics - stuff like electrolysis. You have to understand field behaviour to know why energy can destabilize molecular bonds like that of those in H₂O. Hydrogen and Oxygen inherently resonate (at 2:1 hydrogen to oxygen), and throwing a bunch of electricity(electromagnetic waves) in the mix disrupts the resonance and they separate. When they re-resonate (turn back into water), by which of burning, they release excess energy to balance out. At least that my understanding of what happens when atoms bond together on their own.

Volta, and we got to see Mari's dad this time, huh? I did not expect the violence, though. Good episode.

Weakest episode so far. I really preferred their style where Mari goes into the past and we see how the scientist accomplished what they did and then those stuff about the past which are not seen in the present etc. Here Mari didn't see Volta make that cell he was known for and on top of that we get some crappie development that Mari's dad is some time traveling hero who changes the past to make things right. (kinda reminds me of that cartoon, Time Squad, which did the same thing lol). Really not liking this development. Mari did experience a war first hand as Austrian soldiers were forcefully taking things away from citizens for the war and one of Volta's students was shot in front of her. That was interesting. But the part about Eiji being a time traveling hero was kinda unnecessary I think. They should just stick to having Mari learn things by going into the past and showing the scientists accomplish their feat. Also, Volta was one hell of a magician, making a moe moe girl appear out of nowhere. Would be pretty hilarious if they show something like some history books mentioning stuff like this which happened because of Mari.

Wasn't expecting actual violence on a children's show. I guess japs just don't mind it that much. Another good episode, but why the scene where Mari meets her father was "repeated" (when she said "Papa")? I thought that was an error, but even the sound each time is slightly different.

From what I understood, he was only doing this "protect the scientist" thing this time because he messed up something in another time travel of his (delaying Napoleon's arrival). So it's more that he's trying to fix his own mess than being a time-traveling hero. I could be wrong, though.

I'm starting to think they're correcting and pointing out the crucial flaws and paradoxes in other time travel fiction on purpose—at this point, it's just an intentional "fuck you" to Steins;Gate et al.

This show has been thematically focused on family since its opening minutes; I'm not sure what you expected. That'd be like watching Breaking Bad for the meth.

Any time travel plot is inherently paradoxical and flawed. (At least shows like Doctor Who have fun with it and come up with all kinds of crazy stuff)

Sorry, there's one way a time travel plot can work without ruining everything: it always happened. Aka, the past is as it always was BECAUSE you went back in time and made it so inadvertently. You do have the loop of potentially allowing your time travel to be invented due to your own actions when using the time machine, which wouldn't necessarily be paradoxical as the events would be self-reciprocating (as all aspects of nature exist in this manner). But that would mean that a universe can exist independent of inception. If a universe needs an inception to exist, then you can't have events that cause themselves, because that would mean something can come to reality on it's own without anything outside of a universe to start the process; turn on the simulation so to speak.

Regardless, continuum is a law of physics, you can't physically defy it and actually go to these places. At most you can observe them holographically. So time travel is pure fantasy anyways.

This particular series is not paying attention to details of mechanic and repercussions, i think it's taking it really casually. The time travel is more of a vessel for the science and the story, than being a focus. I wouldn't say this show is criticizing any other tt plots.

Like the food & invention analogies.
Frog legs didn't jump, would be nice for more Volta time, tho father reunion & gar fight did good.
Still quite educational, esp post ed.
