Lol the Loch Ness monster? Oh man this episode was amusing.

Mayoi is also really fun to watch and they got some nice outdoors moments. Didn't really get the thrilling feeling of a mystery although the storytelling is kinda nice as it also involves Mitsurugi. 15 years in the making..

At last we have come to the meat of the story. Again, the animation quality jumps like WTH (although that scene where Mitsurugi was sitting in the tatami mat is eh). While the pacing is a bit fast I think it still fine. Great episode for me. The series begins HERE!

I just didn't like how Manfred looked in the preview, he looked like a sickly man...

Now I see why the anticipation for this case was so high.....I'm hyped just thinking about this thing

Finding out that Phoenix, Edgeworth and what's his face were childhood friends already blew my mind, but this revelation about Edgeworth's dad being arguably the best defense attorney in Japan and then Edgy being mentored and taken in by his rival/the greatest prosecutor made my jaw drop

Add that to the implications and events that occured because of Edgy's dad's death and case and how it ties into the Fey family + Mia's entire purpose in life + her murder case and I was finished off in a TKO

My goodness I cannot wait for this trial to start....I don't see how Phoenix is going to beat this Von Karma guy

Definitely the best episode thus far. There will still problems, like how bad the soundtrack is (although we did hear some good tracks this week) and the pacing was still a little fast, but this is only the beginning of what many consider to be one of, if not the best case in the entire series. Let's just hope they don't butcher the rest of it!

So many revelations, this is probably the most important case in the triology it sets up a lot of things to come.

it was a pretty good episode overall. so the case is connected to some of the previous case i assume ? that's pretty cool. Naruhodo will fight somone stronger than Mitsurugi....can't wait to see that. the only key that i think it might help naruhodo to solved this case is the photo which that afro hair girl took.
and is it me the only one who think that Mayoi looked more adorable in this episode ? xD

It looks like this case is going to be very intense. Nick vs. a 40 year veteran prosecutor who has never lost a case. Well, seeing as how Nick is the MC and there's no way they'd just ship Edgeworth off to prison, I have a strong feeling that Karma is going to experience his first loss......

I remember that in the game, "the victim in the DL-6 was Edgeworth's father" was the biggest plot twist so far and gave that "everything is connected" feeling. Here it was just part of the info dump since they didn't mention the incident earlier.

Other than that episode wasn't bad.

Haha Mayoi & her training in the office. Mitsurugi is in trouble & is now a suspect.
When there is an investigation going on Gumshoe is always there.
So Yahari, Mitsurugi & Naruhodo knew each other when they were young.
Everything is starting to connect with the DL-6 Incident.
Naruhodo going to go up against Karuma Go. This is going to be a tough trial.

alright it's official most of the people watching this anime (at least from what I'm reading in the comments) have not played the game which thankfully they can appreciate this for what it is but for the rest of us that's a different story. skipping all that this episode was a little bit faster paced but I'm personally ok with this I just hope it's not as fast when they get to the actual court part of the episodes. truth be told I'm actually hoping the adapt the other games as well and from that small teaser in the beginning I assume that will be the case. not going to mention it yet but there's one part in this case that I hope does not get changed because it's so funny.

It looks like A-1 is deliberately cutting corners to save their budget for this case. This episode is notably much better looking than the previous cases (I am looking at you, first case).

So they moved the reveal about DL-6 incident from the second case to Grossberg's infodump in this episode. The scenes where the flashback occurs (the remix of the song Reminiscence - "DL-6 Incident" is an absolute joy to hear) are quite nicely done and touching.

Lotta Hart is actually very likable here! They omitted the part where Lotta initially lied about "stargazing" instead of waiting for Goudy. But it's all good to save those little minutes.

Manfred von Karma looks... deformed in the preview. In the games, he is frightfully menacing, just looking at him will give you the chills. But in the preview... he looks like some yasa-shii oba-san who fights for justice (lol) in court.

The incident was shown in case 2 lol. They even re-used the scene here again when we see Maya and Mia as a child........

EDIT: I personally thought this episode was good. The investigation scene should be short IMO, since the real intense sh*t happens in the actuall court. The pace was fast, but not too fast. Currently, this episode is a 7/8. Overall, still a 6 for me(6 is just like myanimelist rating: "a fine anime", unlike others who thinks 6 is bad lol and doesn't rate anything below 6 or 5.)

It wasn't really shown, it was just 5 seconds of flashback without any meaning. Half of the exposition from this episode should be in case 2, when it was relevant (Redd White's and Grossberg's involvement).

..... So it had no meaning? Mia just did it for no reason? The anime did enough to make it not "meaningless"
Something happend to Mia and her sister in the past. Mia was investigating Redd. Mia got killed. Now this episode explained Mia's action. Yet it feels it had no meaning to u huh.

An anime isn't a book. U don't need to spell something out in order for the viewers to get it. Visualizing something with explaining their objective is enough to create a link and getting blown away by the current episode when the incident is revealed. Now everything makes sense for anime only viewers. Now the connection is clear with the flashback and Mia investigating Redd. Simply because the game did it differently =/= anime did it worse. Even though I played the game, I still felt the exitement when the pieces fell together in this episode. Doesn't mean u should feel the same way.

However, the flashback had meanings and they did show the incident earlier to make this connection not random. In short, they did foreshadow it. But done differently compared to the game. It simply depends on taste if u like the change or not, but they did foreshadow it.

This case makes no sense.
- The police guy wants Naruhodo to defend Reiji but won't tell him who the witness is?
- Masashi doesn't know Reiji s a prosecutor despite almost being convicted a murderer by him?
- Camera girl forgot she saw a murder yesterday? Refuses to show evidence to the attorney?
- Police seriously asks a medium for help?

And they changed the names AGAIN.
Within 8 episodes we went from Japanese to English to Japanese to English to Japanese.

You seem to be mistaken on a few details:
1. The police guy is still a detective above all else, and if the prosecution finds out he leaked info, he might lose is job.
2. Reiji only appeared in the second case. The one who prosecuted Masashi was someone else.
3. This will be made clear later on. Also, witnesses are not obligated to share anything with a defence attorney, only with the prosecution.
4. When there are no leads in that sort of locked room, and in the world of ace attorney where the police are mostly incompetent, all is plausible. But otherwise, yes.

As for names, Crunchyroll has two subtitle tracks with the different names. You can choose which you prefer.

- Did he refuse to give information about 2nd witness in Reiji's case? But okay, you have a point.

- Prosecutor was Winston Payne (english), Not Reiji.

- She Didn't forget, this is just a excuse, she wants a guilty veredict to Reiji simply because he was in crime scene. Attorney have not that authority (to force a witness colaborate), A Prosecutor maybe have, because they work for government, Attorney works for a client.

- Again, supernatural have part on this universe (and it's not wrong, there are no rules against which elements are used in a fictional story), but Hoshikage said ... the police used it as a reference to build a case, not as an evidence in court. Was complicated case (this did motivate them to use a Medium), but in the end, defendand was declared not guity and real culprit was never found.

Please, names (japanese or english) have nothing to do with the Anime, the anime is only Japanese, this is about fansubs.
