The series is kinda slow-pacing, but has an interesting plot, and the characters are very good, really liking this OVA.

Yeah, the plot is slow paced but this way the viewer will get more familiar with the environment and the characters so it will make a huge impact by the end of the last episode.

That was one hell of a diversion! Somebody should warn Bernie before they start shooting up dead bodies.

Apparently we still use floppy disks in the future.

Some interesting stuff happening every now and then, but I'm still a bit unsure of the purpose of naive elementary kids on the plot. And Alfred sure seemed happy with "Zeon coming back"...

The show is focused on Side 6, a neutral colony. It does not matter which side he like more.

I think it was supposed to portray how unaware he is from all the things the "cool Zeon soldiers" do in reality.

He's just a kid, everyone at that age would admire giant robots.

The plo is indeed slow but I really love the animation, drawings and designs. The chracters seem interesting too. I really wanna know how things will play out from now on.

I have to say the kid certainly feels realistic... realistically annoying. I hope his naivety comes back to bite him on the butt.

Isn't his dad a Federation solider? If so, him liking Zeon is odd but since he doesn't seem to notice that soldiers = bad what side his dad is on probably doesn't matter to him.

Given the way that episode ended, I'm pretty sure it won't be too long before that happens.

Oh God, glad I'm not the only one who thought it was CHar after seeing the red mobile suit lol (it was the only one red MS in a sea of zakus, so I'm fairly certain it was him). Another good episode, with an interesting tactic employed by Zeon (shooting the dead guy definitely freaked me out too, poor Bernard haha) to get the ship on Side 6.
Another good episode. Wait I already said that.

PS: anyone else feels like Chris Mackenzie is a MS pilot too ?

Good episode, but yeah the plot is kinda slow.

All we learned so far is Bernard joining the previous elite team who failed in their previous mission after one their comrades died.

Alfred's principal is hot as hell though :O

Also her voice is Yoshiko Sakakibara which i'm not surprised since she's been appearing in every Gundam UC, either a side character or Haman :P

That thing that kinda kills the immersion for me are the music and the change of tone despite things looking bleak.

Despite all the battles, you still hear this happy go lucky song. Doesn't help that this kid really acts like a brat trying new things without being aware of the consequences that may happen.

Surprise that Daisuke Namikawa voices the kid. He really sounds very VERY different compared to his voice now :P

Lol how the hell did the elite team was able to sneak past security way ahead of Bernard?

Good episode. Can't wait for the next one!

I think so too.The pacing is accurate imo.

I don't know why but the music felt really unfitting.

Good episode though.

That little kid has absolutely no sense of danger from wanting to hold the zeon pilots gun to trying to fucking fight him, going back to the mobile suit get inside see that battle above your peaeful colony and be basically like oh thats cool what's next. Then to now piggy backing on a zeon transport.

I'm guessing maybe this colony has just been lucky enough to not have experience war at all by the way him and the other kids aren't really too disturbed by it and the fact that they're still having school after presumably civilians have died in that initially fight inside the colony.

There is definitely a totally different feel to this ova than any other gundam show I've watched so far (0079, Zeta , ZZ, CC, Gundam Wing, 00) . I do really like the focus on civilian and ordinary soldiers, perfect timing for me to as I'm on a gundam marathon and they newtype stuff was getting a bit overblown for me. The way the battles are shown they make the mobile suits look a lot bigger, slower, and more cumbersome when in previous shows we were getting used to seeing always the most cutting edge mobile suits being piloted by newtypes.

Yeah its been slow pace and kinda warm sweet atmosphere but I'm guessing its just set up for the drama events that'll probably happen latter in the OVA. Lots of foreshadowing so far, from the neighbor girl having a federation suit in her suitcase to our MC already involving himself with that Zeon soldier and the special force its set up for tragedy is my guess. Its obvious the Fed neighbor girl has established an emotional connection with him and he's interracted a good bit with the Zeon guy.

I notice that the OVA is making it really apparent our Zeon dude is really inexperienced and young , I'm surprised he just get tossed on a special forces squad that has some grizzled vets on it.

Intresting to see that they focus on civilians and kids. Someone complained that music is weirdly happy but I would say it fits perfectly since our hero is kid who thinks that MS battles are coolest thing ever. I am just fearing for his life. This is Gundam after all, so I believe this will end very badly for him.

The show takes place in december 0079 ?! I thought it was a post-war story because of the title! xD

Peaceful episode, surprising for a 6OAV series. Probably going to speedup things and feature more drama around the end of the 4th one.

Even knowing this colony situation, I found Al's happiness hilarious when he met Bernard again.
Still interested, because like someone above wrote, Christina is probably a MS pilot. She basically landed on the colony the same day as the suspiciously large cargo (aka the newest RX - something prototype for wich I can not see any usage since the war is coming to an end and no single unique unit will change the favourable outcome), would she happen to be its pilot? There will be dead bodies in the neutral colony.

4/5

@drokstar I thought I was the only one who couldn't bear those early Zeta dialogs who sounded so awkward. No one mentions them on Zeta episodes threads.

April 5, 2020
@St0rmblade You get some informations over the OAVs 1 to 4 I think:
- the war situation (not finished)
- the season / month, making it easy to figure things out, the war being "one year" only.
- the replacement "Alex" Gundam for Amuro (in the end, he'll just end up with a special "coat" to make his RX79 "faster")

About the ability to get inside easily, it's something you'll just have to accept from anything named Gundam (sorry I forgot to list it ^^"). There is even an OAV (0083) that clearly plays on it while using it.

lol at Al staring at his badge.
I see dem nipples in the magazine.
His name is Bernard.
He's with them now.
You asked your son if he was picked on at school and he says "No, not really." and that's fine to you? That clearly says he was picked on.
No girls allowed.
Al got in the cockpit.
Dat shot.
lol at Al running to catch the truck.

I couldn't say this when I originally watched WotP back in the early 2000's: Funny how Bernard takes Andy's spot. You know...as a "The Office" fan.

He seems like a kid who just took an opportunity, bagde, mobile suit, soldier. It was a better episode than #1.

  • Was that a blue go light at the intersection?
  • New SF pilot is certainly special alright.
  • Nudity? Check.

Weird, some people here mentioning that 0080 takes place during the One Year War... Gundam wiki says that too, but was it stated or shown anywhere during these 2 episodes? I don't think so.

Anyway, things are building up, I'm expecting some intense stuff in later episodes. That Zaku casually lying around in the woods kinda bothers me though. Al/Bernie mentioned something about the weapons having been taken away, but still...why leave the entire robot there? Does the colony not have enough trucks to transport it away or what?

I'd also like to see the infiltration process in more detail. Spying can be really exciting to watch when done properly, it's a shame that Zeon got inside so easily, we're just left to assume how things turned out the way they did.

Still great episode overall, I'm very much enjoying the mood of the OVA.

What is with these kid thinking there colonies having mobile suit fight in and right outside there home with people getting killed like its fun and games. its one thing if its happening far away and your in a neutral place but out of nowhere their boring piece suddenly getting crushed twice. They should be panicking and worried it would be find if they been in the fight like everyone else but no that doesn't seen to be the case.

Also how has no one found that one Zaku that crashed into what looks like a park that within running distance of a small boy? this OVA had some weird miss steps so far.

I'm surprised they have such thorough immigration control there given the history of Gundam and people with wrong intentions sneaking into colonies with ease. Remember how Sarah brought a bomb to Von Braun in her hand luggage in Zeta? She got that thing through the immigration. How?

The local council has probably found it - but so what? They don't have the time and manpower to clear garbage from parks when there is more damage done to the colony.

They just answered the question I had in the previous episode. The plot is getting better and better.
All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

The pacing is still kind of slow, and we're getting quite a lot of exposition, but it's doing a good job of introducing us to the characters and the world Alfred lives in. For a kid whose hometown has just been hit by a major war, Alfred is worryingly cheerful. I'm not sure that's entirely healthy. >.>
It seems Bernard is the character we're meant to sympathize with. Of course Gundam has shown us the human side of lowly Zeon soldiers since Mobile Suit Gundam 0079, but it will be interesting seeing one actually get some decent screen time.

Animation is still excellent, and that battle outside the colony as Bernard snuck in his shuttle looked epic.

Note how Alfred states all the Zaku's weapons have been removed while he's climbing it. That tells me the Zaku HAS been found, it just hasn't been retrieved yet and colony authorities have probably taken steps to disarm it until they're able to remove it properly. Considering the damage that was done to the colony by the combat, it's not entirely illogical that the mess hasn't entirely been cleaned up yet.

@Orokasuke Yeah, but he should still be aware that Zeon gassed the Hatte colony and threw it on earth, killing billions of civillians. The Feddies did nothing even remotely comparable. So Zeon should signal "Will kill innocent civilians without mercy" to anyone even on a neutral colony.
