One thing I don't understand, if Miss Hibiya wanted Chi to start all over, and formatted her memory before dumping her in the trash, then what was the deal with the disk that was laying by her body when Hideki found her?

I loved the series overall but doesn't anyone else feel that it dragged a lot? Like that under wear skit was funny but it just dragged on and so was that one skit where chii and hideki clean the place. I like how Hideki sees chii as a persocom at first and refers to her in that manner until he becomes attached. With my interpretation, I saw chii's program as dangerous in the sense that the persocoms could now love. Having these persocoms love is dangerous because they'd be able to split relations. The persocoms may have also fallen in lovewith the wrong person such as freya and her dad.

Also, does anyone know what episode it was where hideki gave chii something like on a key chain or something? Or... am I just combining random crap fromother animes or pulling from the manga.

I just finished watching the final episode. To be honest i loved the cuteness that was portrayed from Chi through-out the entire series and i felt like i really knew what Chi was feeling. For some moments i really thought that Yumi-chan was going to be the one for Hideki (clearly that is not possible with series that require the fan-service 'happy ending')

Nonetheless, i found this Anime very entertaining throughout and kept me glued on for most of the series. 9/10.

(BTW love the intro and outro song choices!)

It was exactly what I expected, they stretched it out to the very end before bunching the plot twist and the cliche ending together and stuffing it all into the last ten or so minutes of the series. Overall the anime itself isn't bad, but that ending could have played a lot better, especially if they'd added in less episodes that had nothing to do with the actual plot and more of the alternative.

I really need to get this out of my system...
I'm disappointed in this series... Before I watched it I couldn't understand the hype behind it... And now that I did I can say I WILL NEVER understand it. It has to be the manga, right? Well, I probably won't risk reading it.

Despite it not having the most original ideas, this series had so much potential... but they stuck to the standard "lucky guy who meets impossibly cute and sexy girl and she likes him for no apparent reason."

Art and Animation
Considering the time, I think this series had some pretty good art style and good animation (not that it needed awesome animation). Chii's dresses are a delight to look at, small persocons such as Sumomo look great and the art style is cute. The human character designs, however, are somewhat lacking, as some characters look the same with only with a slightly tweaked hairstyle. A personal nitpick would be the eyes: while I'm okay with persocon having those "empty" eyes, I think they should've gone with regular anime eyes for humans, just to be able to tell difference more easily.

Characters
Everyone but the main characters was interesting, in fact, I would've liked to see more episodes dedicated to them. Perhaps even Shinbo could've been made the main character, his story is much more interesting. Hideki is a bland character, his only aspects are: he's perverted, he speaks out loud in public, he's technologically ignorant, and he's incredibly nice to other people. This is both the source for jokes and the source for plot advancement. Chii, while being cute, doesn' have much else to her. Oh yeah, she gets kidnapped. A lot. And 90% of the time Hideki finds her to see her save herself, might as well not do anything. I still don't understand how they fell in love with each other, because ecchi moments aside, they seemed more like father and daughter to me (or maybe even owner and pet). I was never able to connect with them as a couple.

Plot
I didn't like the pacing. The "arcs" that I was able to identify were really short, and the filler episodes were much better in some ways. That aside, the most important parts of the plot only start at the very end, from episode 19~ onwards. In order to have the guts to do something like that I expected this series to pack a bigger punch... but nope. That was the only reason why I kept watching until the end actually, the constant Freya cockteasing was really intriguing to me.
So... from the very beginning it was obvious that Hideki would end up with Chii (as opposed as I was to that idea), but CLAMP decided to cocktease us with some harem elements. What I really disliked about the plot was that everything happened so conveniently, and that only made it more perdictable. After some sort of mini-harem is established at the beginning, all the ladies eventually (and very convieniently) leave the way open for Chii and Hideki to be together, not before revealing that they were already in love with somebody else, so Hideki was doomed from the beginning anyway... And since introducing a new female lead by that point would be just too forced, the Chii ending flag couldn't be more obvious (despite the fact that the final arc hadn't even started by that point). I hated that even more because they were in love with the only other male characters in the series, they didn't even create a fourth male character to make you guess at least (Kokubunji doesn't count since he's only a little boy with sister issues :P). No, everything fits just too perfectly. Personally, I disagree with this Pygmalion-like idea of human-machine romance in which you mold your loved one the way you want it to be, so I was hoping that Hideki would somehow end up alone and/or waiting for the correct human. And to top the coincidences, Chii's mother turned out to be Hideki's landlady... seriously? AND SHE ALSO WRITES THE DAMNED BOOKS CHII READS!? (Ok, that last one was more original and slightly more logical)
There were some things unexplained in the end (and also some written almost deliberately vague), probably to ensure you buy the manga. I wouldn't be surprised if that was actually the case.
The side character stories were interesting, though I didn't care much about Ueda's tragedy. Oh, yeah, and there were some moments of technobabble inaccuracy that were unintendedly funny because they didn't make sense at all despite trying to sound realistic. On that topic, why does Chii's reset button HAVE to be down there? Why can't she not have any holes to avoid potential owner abuse? Rule of ecchi, that's why.

Music
Some tunes were catchy, but I can't say I'd ever listen to the OST as I do with other series. I hated the opening song with all my soul, and yes, it's because of the lead vocals.

6/10
The jokes got old sometimes, but still it's kind of fun. Kind of. I think this series would've worked much better either as a more hardcore slice-of-life series or with a more interesting plot. I couldn't care less for the main characters and Ueda's backstory, the difficulties they faced didn't do much for me.
Bottom line: do not trust the hype blindly.

Ok let me start by giving this a 10/10 rating. Yes I know that the series has a lot of bad points and potential areas of improvements but given as it is, for me at least, its a masterpiece.

What I hate:
At some points I kinda agree with the guy above. First of all the whole plot was kinda a little bit cheesy with all the finding "the one for me" thing. The so called "arcs" of the show was also kinda short and could have been given at least a few more episodes especially with the other characters. Without the fillers you can create a 13 episode anime with the same result. Predictable, yes and it kills the excitement in watching it especially guessing who ends up with who. The were so many unanswered questions like where the hell did dita and zima come from or the mystery surrounding the "chobits" and many more I'm sure you can think of them.

What I like:
For the record, I really like the opening song because of its catchy beat and awesome bass (the reason why watched this anime in the first place). I love unsuspecting twist in the end like hibiya-san being the co-creator of the chobits, like who would have thought right? I really enjoyed the Ueda side story maybe even more than the Hideki x Chi story and definitely more than the Shimbo story. The ending was a bit incomplete but is just as satisfying (some things are just better left just as it is) though I would still welcome a proper closure for the series.

Overall:
Considering the year it was made and disregarding its inconsistencies, this is could possibly be one of CLAMP's greatest works but then again this series has a lot of potential wasted that could make this show even better. With all the crazy plot twists and complex story lines of anime today (don't get me wrong I love this kind of anime), nobody really appreciates the simplicity of this classic and again for the record....THE FEELS T^T.

Last Note:
I just have one regret, that I didn't watched this series back in its popular days but then again I'm glad that I just watched it recently because if I would have watched this before I may not see this series with a more mature perspective in life and understand the series as it is.

What the fuck was the light?
How was she floating?
In fact, what's with all the glowing and floating shit throughout the anime?
How the hell did Chii regain control of the body?
Did Freya disappear because she was in control of the body when the landlady deleted all data? Did I get that part right?
Why is Minoru's last name, Kokubunji, when his sister Kaede's last name is Saitou? (Basically: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1268905)

Other than those, everything else connects quite fine (hopefully). Though what was Yumi and Hiroyasu's (Ueda; baker) relationship again? He named his persocom, Yumi. Was this AFTER meeting the human Yumi? Maybe I'm just forgetful. Shit.

I wouldn't care less about these so-called "fillers" if they had entirely rid the series of recaps. In the end, fillers > recaps. At least there are new things to be seen. I don't want to be watching what I had just seen recently, like 30 minutes ago, an hour ago, or from yesterday.

Overall, the series has been quite tame with the drama. It wasn't as funny either. But it's good that it wasn't overwrought either way. The use of the picture book and it's simplistic narration basically outlined how simple the series actually was. Especially that ending. The last two minutes were so tear-inducing. But, unfortunately, it failed to bring everything out because of the flat characters. Gungrave is a PRIME example of how to do it right.

Sentimental value of 7, just because of Chii! But 6 because COME ON.

This part though:

What a sexy fuckin beast.

They really should make second season to it, cause do u think this is end of the story? what about the people who gave that mission to them to erase Chii? wont they come after them & all Perecon's cause new all have emotions? i'm sure they will plot something + people will become scared of Persecon's cause they have emotions new, & people will be split in two, to people who hate & who are scared of Persecons & people who will demand that Persecon's get human right, my point is that from that point things can go only messier until some1 makes dumb people see the right way, that the right way is to accept the change & Ai's with emotions

The most appealing part of this series are all slice-of-life episodes. They were really fun and cute, unlike many "comedy" series that came out recently. As for the main plot, it was pretty weak in many fronts, and the execution wasn't really good either. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I'd normally give it a 7/10, but I'll bump it up by one. Chi and Sumomo were adorable.

Wow, this was not good at all. It had so much potential but man this was terrible. I'm shocked that it would just leave so many questions unanswered. And they kept trying to throw everything into this episode.
Who created those two persocoms to stop Chi? If she was created just to be a child for the manager why did she have such a pivotal role in the future of all Persocoms? Why is she able to fly? Like these things bother me. Why is it okay for a student and teacher to be together and she still be a teacher teaching him? And if Shinbo is back why is Sumomo still with Hideki? And the other persocom too. I could go on...the pacing and development of the plot was atrocious honestly. Explanations for everything was so vague. But whatever.

The only characters I liked were Sumomo and Chi (more in the first half of the series). Everyone else I either didn't care for or just didn't like at all.

That was... really bad. I only finished it out of masochism at this point. There were some interesting parts, but they were mostly flashbacks or things that didn't happen to the main couple (or both). I don't think this series knew what it wanted to be. First, there is this really long and boring segment of slice of life and then they suddenly go for plot in the last third of the freaking anime. But I think I would have been able to get over this had I actually liked the characters. That's impossible, though, because Chii acts like a retard (and no, I don't care that she's cute) and Hideki is just a different brand of retard.

I actually genuinely enjoys this series, though there are some unanswered shit and stuff and too much filler SOL but it didn't bother me for also being a SOL fag but for a classic series, I really like is how they tackled the world of robots in a normal living setting and the consequences of having this kind of thing and this really is an eye opening for me if ever this shit happens in the near future since these kind of shit can potentially happen and also creepy. Also the music in this series really takes the cake for me, it's so fcking good, Round Table definitely never disappoints w/ the OP, that last episode music definitely makes my heart go wild. Overall I can safely say it is worth the watch for me.

Really liked this wrap-up, was nice how the Anime had a bit of a different ending to the manga. Chi/Freya indicates in the Dragonfly Arc conclusion scene where she confronts Hideki briefly that her imprinting on him will allowing them to be physically intimate. But in this episode Chi also points out that because she is a Persocom she cannot biologically bear children for him or physically age alongside him, among other things. But despite those differences she also understands that Hideki wants to be her lover and happily accepts the dynamics of their relationship, great show!

The ending was meh. This anime has some serious issues:

1. Supposed to be realistic, yet we see robots flying around rooftops.
2. At the end of the day, a computer doesn't have feelings, its just bits of metal stuck together.
3. The way Chi says "Hideki" is really annoying
4. Every normal girl falls for someone other than Hideki

More than glad about the happy ending. Of course it would make more sense in a rather light hearted series such as this, yet not knowing for sure made me feel quite anxious hehe.

I take it that because Chi found the one for her and due to the strength of their feelings, the program ended up giving all the other Persocoms the ability to feel emotions. Nice.

Overall I really loved this series. Not really for the plot, even tho it turned out to be rather decent, but for the slice of life episodes. Cute, innocent, hilarious. Exactly my cup of tea and I tried to savour every single moment of it. Gonna miss this, but at least I still got the OVA.

As Zima wish in the previous last part scenes: A HAPPY ENDING FOR ALL.

nice way to conclude all of the problem. We get nice plot there to solve every miss story, like Freya POV, Miss Hibiya POV, and even the duo couple of Persocoms on black suit, Zima and Dita.

So the danger was definitely about the feeling on Chii after finding her love. The effect, can make her fly long in the air and turn every Persocoms in the world lost its control over its body. Its really a scary thing to the company whom selling those bunch of machines. They fear, Chi, or Elda, or Freya will control them to destroy the world? Its just a misunderstanding afterall, a big sudden misleading for this whole series. I may called it rather silly reason or completely nonsense thought.

I don't get along with those reason, since i just saw it via Zima and Dita POV. But, from Ms Hibiya past story, it is clear, that Freya and Elda just want to be happy on their life. Love is just a bonus, but the effect really make all of them suffer, till its shocking end. To prevent the dangerous, Dita trying hard, and then Hideki succed to prevent side effect, after getting well trust from Zima. Then, something shit happen again, Freya changed Chi's persona, and telling Ms Hibiya to destroy both of their soul. Ofc, Hideki won't let it happen after hard shit happen on his life. However, Ms Hibiya do her magic, a restart fabricate password, make all of data and system get reset on Freya/Chi's body. Succeed? Yes. Its over, all going to normal, but no for Hideki.

He still trying hard to confessing his feeling, again, again, and again. Indeed it success to waking up Chi's personal chara, all over again, separate it from Freya, whom can not believe its happening. Fastening, all good for them. Hideki still together with Chi with nice point of view and overwhelming last images. Ofc all of the other chara had their life so much brightness, thanks for the author who bring that better future life. This is a predictable way of ending.

No more fan-service after beach scenes, being this show as a 'bad' thing for an ecchi genre for me, its really lack of the teasing scene after that episode! Beside its amazing story, i still get bored with their music, tho. Its so dull and boring for me, because MH just added 1 replacement ED in the half season, a shameful. Not much i can write about the art and animations. Its on average level point for me. And with the characterization, Hideki and Sumomo persona be my best, thanks for both of two. It save for my hate over the couple of Shinbo and Shimizu. Hell, their smiles in the last scenes really irritate me. Thankfully, Sumomo found Hideki as a replacement master. If no, ofc her life shall be in the garbage bin after meeting those bitch in the first else. Imagine it happen without Hideki!

With that fear, and my hatred toward some rushed moment of romance and no joke shit in half of the second series, i rather give this only 8 point per 10. I love this series, its story telling, how the Persocoms had interesting habit, like Sumomo, Yuzuki, Chi, and even Kotoko's. But, i dont feel allright for the unbeliavable romance situation with robot, and difference age in the first place, or other reason stated above. Suck it, im out. Bye Sumomo, bye Chi, hope you last forever lasting forever on that universe with Hideki!

So 7/10 would be a 8/10 without theses really bad side-romance... I'm going to miss Chii tbh xD
