Finally finish watching the first episode, not bad. The censoring is a bit too much imo. I read the first volume of this series since last year, I think I will catch up to the manga.
TG is tolerable, this was like, 80% of the screen gradiented. New source for my Censorporn, but other than not being able to see much of anything for a few clips there, I'm sort of liking this story a bit.
So I'll be watching this and writing my thoughts down as I go along:
Right off the bat, within the first 30 seconds, terrible exposition slaps you in the face. This dude is announcing to a crowd what city they're in and what year it is like they wouldn't already know. When I'm not even able to take the literal first spoken words of a show seriously because they are mind numbingly stupid, that isn't a good sign.
RICH PEOPLE R BAD. Got it.
"So, they're not dead yet?" Um, What? How would you watch a fight to the death if the people participating in that fight are already dead? What kind of stupid fucking question was that? That line added nothing except for making me thing the chick who said it is a retard.
>childhood friend ¬_¬
Why would he turn his body to the side, look up at the audience, and shout about his childhood friend when the bear who just slashed his fucking face is standing not even 4 feet away from him? He'd be fucking dead.
I don't think the writers have ever heard a bear roar. For future reference, it doesn't sound like air escaping a popped tire, or whatever the hell that sound effect they were using was.
Wow, so it turns out childhood friend girl is actually a rude cunt. Nice.
Oh, childhood friend is sorry. Yay. Cue "friendship is power" speech.
So he has magical powers, cool.
lol this censor
Oh no, girl is dead.
"Give her back" .... I hate when this line is used whenever a character is dead. Is this a Japanese culture thing? I hear it all the time in anime. It's fucking dumb.
Ooh space virus.
So our main character just decides to go along with the people he literally just met after one single short conversation. Ok..
I like this soundtrack.
"I wonder why I'm so mad at everything" Gee I fucking wonder too. Wtf is up with that line? Shouldn't it be glaringly fucking obvious why he's upset?
That comedy with him trying to cover up his crying was awkward, but I like how the glasses girl and facial hair guy speak to each other. There's the hint at future comedic banter, but its not annoying or immature.
Ah, there it is. The "lady sexually harasses main character LUL" scene. At least he didn't freak out about it. It was relatively well handled.
Surgery to make mars atmosphere tolerable? Uh... no comment.
The Germans Adolf and Eva.. lol. What's that ridiculous collar hiding, his Hitler 'stache?
"He will be your superior"
"Ah, no, don't introduce them. I have no intention of remembering you" I'm glad that the people in charge are taking this mission seriously.
"I'll leave "that" to you." Japan sure does love its vagueness.
THIS JUST IN: FEMALES HAVE BREASTS. WOAH. LET'S GET A CLOSE UP ON THAT, SHALL WE?
Awww such lovely and cute bonding. So wholesome and heartwarming! It's gonna be SUCH CONTRAST when they all die for gore fanservice! So deep!
The cockroaches mutated into... BLACK PEOPLE
The scientific liberties concerning evolution and genetics taken are... ambitious.
And by that I mean fucking retarded.
"100 Members" oh goodie, so that means LOTS of deaths that will be completely purposeless and inconsequential outside of providing gore fanservice. Awesome.
Launching already? No training? This feels pretty damn rushed.
That launch looked cool as shit.
"The atmospheric pressure is 0.06" I'm not sure what units they're using, but the (current) atmospheric pressure of Mars is 600 Pa, or 0.6 KPa. Not sure where that extra 0 is coming from, unless they're using weird units. Another fun fact: cockroaches wouldn't be able to survive in that low of an atmospheric pressure.
Ok, well, I think I'll give this one more episode. If I don't like it, I'm dropping. I like that the characters are adults, and for the most part act like it. But the writing definitely seems amateur so far.

Looks like we might have another TG
[citation needed]
Everyone whining about censoring - if it bothers you that much, you can start this episode for your 30 seconds of not censored next week, when it airs on BS11 and people can get raws from it.
The censoring is the least of my concerns...I can overlook it but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to mention how awful they are

First episode is out the door and it's already hella rushed.
Edit: Also, no word on the episode count so far I think.
Oh, boy. smh.

Do you have any source that it will be just 13 episodes?
I'm not gonna lie; the first minute of this creeped the fuck out of me. >.<
The censorship kind of made me wonder what the hell exactly happened when Akari killed that bear (I know Akari stabbed its eye, but that's it). Although I'm, not surprisingly, no fan of censorship, I'm hoping it doesn't bother me too much.
This was an okay first episode (Could've been better, but oh well).
So far so good, it's got me interested. More back story about the giant cockroaches and Bugs 1 and 2 will hopefully come in following episodes.
The only thing so far that I'm not liking are the censors but apart from that its very good.

And another thing is, if such a huge ammount of people drop this because it's censored, they've already lost a ton of buyers. Nobody's gonna buy this just to get rid of the censors. The only thing censoring like this does to a show, is increase the ammount of piracy when the BD is out.
Eh. I'm probably going to disagree with you on that bolded point. Adaptations are to promote the author's work. Sometimes censored material isn't normally what makes people drop a certain anime. Maybe it could be characters or simply the plot.
Take a look at Tokyo Ghoul. As I mentioned before, maybe censoring is just one of the factors to dropping an anime. Some people were completely turned off and either stopped caring about the series OR moved onto the manga.
People who enjoyed the manga a little more might to decide to buy a volume of Tokyo Ghoul. Or maybe people who were fans of the anime adaptation are willing to buy the anime because they enjoyed it or would like to support the SP and the author.
Of course, no one is going to buy just to not only remove the censors, but also support the industry.
Akari! Alex! Adolf! Marcos! Komachi!
I finally got completely caught up with the manga last week and was really looking forward to this. Unfortunately, the censoring has really pissed me off.
Wow the first episode......... was mediocre. Kind of confusing since the 1st OVA came out first, sort of rushed the whole thing, and the worst part is the censors are present in here. I was having some high hopes of this, but then I guess I was wrong. Although Michelle sort of save this episode, she looks interesting enough.
Even though they are slamming information about the giant cockroach and the virus is spreading, it should give us more information about this, but I think they will explain it again in later episodes.
Though I like the synopsis of this, so I will stick around until the end. Overall, sort of a weak start, but I hope it gets better in later episodes. The first episode gives me a 6/10.
ALIEN VS. YAKUZA
pretty alright. The cockroach design is silly i kinda love it, I'm considering this as kinda a lame/fun action flic and hopefully will enjoy it.
First episode a bit rushed, only the story of Akari was shown, well if the anime has same only 13 episodes there is not much to do about it, but hopefully not run and leave important details backward
I liked the animation and the soundtrack also seemed to be good, if continue with development of manga and censorship does not interfere, everything has to be among the best of the season ..
Oh boy, that censoring is as real as it can get
I wish we could've seen more backstory between Akari and his childhood friend and more of this AE virus.
Also, introducing a shit load of characters and a timeskip to two years when they launch -_- Hopefully the pacing won't be that bad and killing off any side characters without any proper development won't happen every single episode.
3/5
I got some serious Nobunaga the Fool vibes from this (not the story necessarily, but it's "feel"/"atmosphere")... which doesn't give me high hopes for the rest.
Not bad. Animation-wise it was kinda disappointing, but in overall nothing cringe-worthy apart from those censored scenes. Hope we get actual character development before they start killing everyone.
The cockroaches are soooooo ugly. Now imagine when we start getting fan art involving them and someone from the cast... "bonding"... (since there's a manga to this, chances are this already happened and... <get the chills>)
Also, HS comments section never fails to lift my mood:
"is terra formars the gayest anime of the year
yes
guy gets blowjob from bear then kills it because he's angry homo and then the enemies of the anime are cockroaches
you ask wtf cockroaches are gay now oh of course they are bc COCK roaches got what I meant
A decent amount of anime I've seen paint rich people in a horrible picture. Why would a rich person go to a place like this, in which they could get robbed or killed just to watch some guy fight a fucking bear. It's so weird and random.
Wow, that was bad. The animation is ugly, the character designs are bland, Akaris background story was as formulaic as it can be and the german characters are named Adolf and Eva? Really? Well, the censorship is not their fault, some of the backgrounds were decent and the soundtrack was listenable, but aside from that...
In 9/10 cases, the worst thing about an anime is its fandom.
Hm, I don't know how I feel about this. It wasn't necessarily bad but it deck butler wasn't as good as I was expecting. Best thing about it was the bear fight and Itou Shizuka voicing Michelle. I hope it gets better, so I'll give it a few more episodes.
Rushed. Censored. Sad. They should not be doing this :'( was awaiting the anime adaptation. And how rushed was this episode.. :/ Akari is fighting a bear and 5-7 mins later Marcos and Alex join the crew to undergo the operation.. if this lasts, some vital scenes will get butchered
23:31 dat Earth cockroach evolution into muscular humanoid lol
7.5/10 for this ep.
Isayama Hajime should be awarded The Manga with The Highest Inconsistencies of Characters' Appearances.
He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter.
Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga.
Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month.
Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel.
The 2015 SNK live-action movie would probably suck.
Rushed. Censors don't really annoy me but with the amount of killing and gore this show is supposed to have, expect a ton of constant dark-censored scenes. Yikes. That said, this wasn't particularly a strong first episode. 1-cour too...it's like Tokyo Ghoul all over again :/ (at least Tokyo Ghoul had a strong start)
What I liked about this: Adolf <3!
"May those who accept their fate be granted happiness."
Eh, I'll watch it anyway. I watched the OVA episode that's available before I watched this one, so I at least kinda had an idea what was going on, but not enough that it fixed the pacing. I actually thought I was watching a different anime in the beginning, though, lol.
That censoring is going to be a bitch for the next 12+ episodes.
Aside from the massive censor, I did not mind this first episode. It was quick but didn't mind it. I do agree that the censoring is going to be a huge limiter both on straight adaptation and thus enjoyment but shall see. So far I'm in for continuing this. The cockroaches do look absurdly stupid I will admit..which is going to be another limiter.
