And to think, Mion's grandmother has an analogy as great as fresh and stale air. The previous arcs made her some insensitive hag.

Finally, likable characters again! =D

I'm happy that Satoshi is alive. But I thought Takano was behind that. If she would have been behind his disappearance, Shion would have lost it.

So Keiichi is who Rika was talking about in the previous episode.

Aw, the scene with Mion and Oryou, guess she isn't always a bitch.

Hurray, it's Hanyuu time!! My favorite character so far, along with Takano and Rika.

Also, it seems that this anime is finally going to provide some answers I've really been wanting to get.

I am pumped...Rika's final line "i have waited a hundred years for this day..."

I really liked Mion and the Grandmothers talk at the end of the ep, it was truthful and full of insight.

Rena just rocks...mainly because its Nagisa from Clannad and i love her voice lol

By the look of it, I assume Satoshi is dead?
Oryou seems really philosophical and kind. This changes my perception of her.
And finally Keiichi the trump card is back

auu-auu-auu-auu OMFG that is too KAWAII <3

Even though this is my third time watching Higurashi, It's nice to see all the loose questions tie up so nicely at the end.

Except for the one specifically explaining when Rika and Hanyuu came to the Matsuribayashi-hen world. Hanyuu could only take Rika back two weeks in Minagoroshi, yet here's Rika and Hanyuu, chatting about Keiichi teaching them how to break through fate when he first comes to the school.

If I waste a lot of time thinking about this, I could probably think of 30 other things to question, but I think I'll just recite the MST3k mantra and keep watching.

Wow, I never thought I'd say this, but I'm starting to love Onibaba!<3 She really understands a lot, and isn't as stubborn as I thought :)

Good episode, but I'm waiting till we try to break the endless cycle! These are boring compared to the first arc.. but they did add a lot of depth to the plot and cleared up things.

Good episode, it seems Rika and Hanyuu talked with Keichi's dad in the past.
Also, Mion's grandmother doesn't seem all that mean this episode.

I'm already pumped for the last arc!

So far what Hanyuu´s being doing is just apologizing. It´s time to see some real action.

So Oryo actually wanted to be put on her place, not surprising, most females do. What surprises me is Satoshi, I never got to know how he ended up dead.

Why does the grandmother say that Satoshi vanished? In this arc, he's still there, suffering from level 5, or did I miss something?

Also, the syndrome explanation is missing one piece: why can't you see it with a microscope? Are we gonna go back to aliens now? For example, aliens controlling human minds remotely, and maybe there is no virus at all?
What's the point of all this? // There's no point. I'm doing it because I can. That's all there is to it. // What will be left behind after this? // Nothing at all. She'll die and I'll burn out. The end. That's all. (Requiem for the Phantom)

So Satoshi was suffering from level 5 because of all the stuff he was enduring and the only thing holding him back was buying that teddy bear. And when he finally bought it he finally went nuts and was unlucky enough to end up in the "clinic"... he was probably experimented on and then "vanished".

Poor guy, that demonic bad person Takano must pay for all she has done to this village. I hope she gets infected by the virus too and lives with it in an asylum.

Finally Satoshi's mistery finally explaied itself fully, and I feel bad for him..
He could have been saved, but they decided to experiment on him..
Irie made Satoko more sad.

And yes, until now we have seen the past, so we could understand what happened, but Rika and Hanyuu knew who the culprit is, so why did they say in the last arc that their time was short when this time they went back to 1979 I guess?

Oryou may be understandable, but she always has that sadistic torture weakness.

Oryou got some points there, guess she isn't that bad.
And now we know, Satoshi really killed his aunt, but I already expected this a long time. I actually thought they would make a twist at this too. But what does really happen to Satoshi himself? I guess we can assume, that he is killed by Takano for "science-reasons", but it wasn't stated clearly.

And I'm wondering a bit too, Rika and Hanyuu said, they have less time each round, but now they go back so far? However, if that's the biggest plot-hole at the end, I can live with it!^^

My question is: what the hell is going on with Rika's memory recovery? She said that the starting time before the festival happening on her timeline resets after dying was shortening, but now she has awareness of what's going to happen this early on, before Keiichi even gets there? Where's the consistency in that? I'm waiting on an explanation for this. Hopefully that gets addressed, or it's going to be a massive problem.

I wanted to ask same question right now.
Maybe not about memory recovery (it is obvious that she remember most of things from her endless timeloop) , but place in time where she restarded. It was said that the time until matsuri getting shorter after every time reset. And what's now?

The talk between Mion and her grandmother was touching. It's funny how the grandma started the show looking like an evil character, but it's in fact just a facade, a tragic necessary evil. There are probably other way to solve that problem, but she leave that for the next generation.

The last piece have moved in and now they can start to plan something anew. Like Rika said, Keichi is always a turning point, but there is always something unexpected that make things to fuck up. I wonder how Hanyuu will be able to change that. Also, the fact that she had a physical form surprised me. This will be interesting...

I'm pretty sure Satochi wasn't used as a living sample. I think the doctor Irie helped him escape and falsified or something like that.

OUR MVP KEIICHI ARRIVES!

Hanyuu enters the fray!

The amount of ~auauau was hardly enough for my heart to handle. ♥

Looks like Satoshi got infected with Hinamizawa syndrome which explains why he murdered his aunt.

I don't understand why this time loop is so much longer than the last one. I thought they were supposedly getting gradually shorter and shorter. PLOTHOLES!

Nice episode! 4/5

Yeah, I noticed that too. I hate how they often neglect Shion, shes like my favorite character. Screw Rena, never understood the love for her :/. It's not that I hate her (not anymore at least), but shes just never really been that interesting to me, meh.

No but seriously, Shion better friggin be there for the final confrontation, or I'm gonna be pissed >_>.

”I have lived a hundred years for this day.”

Damn, I can’t even imagine how much emotional turmoil Rika and Hanyuu must have had to endure, having to relive the same scenario over and over again hoping for a miracle.

Also, I wonder what ended up happening with Satoshi after he exhibited the terminal symptoms.

Beginning of the end indeed. Let’s see how this unfolds!

So far what I've conclude from this last arc are:
1. Different from previous arcs, instead of resetting the timeline by the beginning of June 1983, this time Rika and Hanyuu decided to reset the timeline from where it all began (sometimes before The Dam Confrontation).
2. In this arc, Hanyuu got a human form.
3. Not all of the Oyashiro-sama's Curse cases are related each other. Miyo triggered the first case (the Dam Manager massacre) and the third case (Rika's parents). The second case was Satoko herself who killed her parents under her own-triggered syndrome. The fourth case was Satoshi killed their aunt, but ended-up in Satoshi's being Miyo's test object.
4. Sonozaki Family didn't involved at all cases.

I assume that Satoshi could be saved by whatever treatment they are using for Satoko, but it seemed pretty heavily implied that he ended up getting dissected. Hopefully no one from the school decides to job-shadow Dr. Irie or Takano. "Here on your left is the anatomy model...oh wait, that's your dissected childhood friend."

Onibaba was more likeable this episode, but that doesn't mean I like her. The ability to have a nice conversation with your granddaughter and pull a few strings for her happiness doesn't turn you into an automatic good person, especially when you are ripping off your other granddaughter's fingernails on the side.
