There probably will be since there wasn't an original ending for the series and they left us at the start of an ark.

Also probably not thou, since If I recall correctly, the series dvd sales were so poor they didn't even make the charts.

Would be kind of stupid if they made another season.

Subs at last lol. Nice ending episode, though it didn't properly finish the story. I liked how Rin began training in the end after talking with the old hag, don't remember her name.

It's a "Go read the manga" ending. :P

Which people really should do since it's so much better than the anime.

Wow. I'm always at a loss for words when shows just can't wrap things up properly. Instead of finding some kind of conclusion to the excuse for a plot this show had, they tried to somehow frame the show as some kind of sprawling ensemble piece as though I would care about any of the other characters actions or revelations. I had to drop it a point for this ending.

When the show wasn't good (for like 2, maybe 3 episode) it was remarkably bad. Some of the voice acting was weird, especially Seki Tomokazu, who was at the same time aiming for a comedic and dramatic voice, failed almost all the time. I just don't really get whatever it was they were going for in this show.

Kind of surprised at how underrated this series is. Yeah, the last episode was pretty average and not really an end/season finale at all and yeah, that annoys me to no end, but overall it was better than a lot of anime out there. It does beg for a second season though as the biggest fights seem to be ready to come up just next (the two schools fighting, Manji & Rin vs Anotsu, Taito vs the assassins who killed his girlfriend) which is a major disappointment for a last episode that would have been better including those fights than setting the stage for them.

Interesting plot, interesting characters, nice art. How people can rate To Aru Majutsu no Index (which actually had an even worse ending if you can believe it) higher than Blade of the Immortal i will never know.

I'm not sure how you can say that To aru was worse than Blade of the Immortal. There wasn't one interesting story concept in this show. Index had a couple of nice concepts (even if they never fleshed out) and at least one good character. This show had your basic revenge plot with no resolution and average to terrible characters. Not to mention terrible pacing and a failed ending, I thought Index's ending was bad, but mostly because they tried to add new information after closing the arc.

Yes they prepared for Season 2... and ep 13 was no ending.. its just preparing for season 2.
On the other hand financial crisis kicked in so .. the answere to "Will there be a second season?" is UNKNOWN.

Ending was messed. I see how what the director was trying to do. If there is a season 2, the ending maybe suitable, but mostlye i doubt for another series. The show was pretty good and relatively interesting. The last episode was kinda boring but it did wrap things up. Again it feels like a new ark which was a bad idea to most ppl. The key aspect of the show is probably the painting at the end of ep, foreshadowing how Manji helps Rin in achieving her goal while helping her hold the knife.Agree or disagree wif me i dont realli care, but tell me ur opinions if u want to. There won't really be one. I see this anime as (bad?) advertizement for the actual manga.

Hmmm was that even an ending? I don't really know what they tried to achieve, but since some episodes had glimpse of hope for an actual plot and developments, and since I somewhat liked the art and atmosphere, I think it deserves a 7/10, just like White Album. It wasn't bad nor horrible, it was just average.

haha,its over
Cool ending,it really fits this psycho show XD

In general I like dark tv shows but sometimes this show was too cruel and nearly perverted.
killing kids because of their family, putting heads of women on shoulders, raping women and paint their bodies with blood, and so on.sometimes it was really disgusting in my eyes.

The atmosphere of this japanese era was shown very dark.
I won't like to live in a world where everyboy can kill everybody without consequences and sorrow.

Nevertheless I liked this show.
The animation art was very nice,as well as the action scenes.
The few scenes of humor were always good.

-index has one interesting story concept, the first story arc, but it was thrown out as soon as it was done. Main character here is sort of immortal, but not in a good way. It is also a story about revenge and everyone likes that, it in our nature.

-the characters in index, unlike in this show, where completely and totally static. what you see is what you get, no matter what episode you view. Here the characters did change and evolve quite a bit. even the main bad guy she is trying to get revenge against the entire series seems to have changed from when he killed her family. She herself changed from an innocent girl in to "Manji Lite" and of course manji changed too.

-Manji is a better character than touma. Come on touma is the most generic character ever even to the point of making 10 minute long speech on why the bad guy is wrong and should join his side because they know it is right. Rin is a better character than Index, an easy thing to say since Rin is gone in to in quite a bit of detail and changes a lot throughout the series while index is absent most of the series and not talked about much.

-blade did have poor pacing, but i assume that is because they wanted to spread it out to a 2nd season. I can't comment on index's pacing since it has no plot whatsoever so this section is NA.

-Blade and index had similar endings, but blade's was better because more happened. Both of them weren't really what i would call "real season finales" as there was no epic event to make them special. At least in blade some significant events happened though where as index... can you say "generic hero speech" took longer than the season finale fight and half of the show was a blatant advertisement for the 2nd season (which ironically was the only good part of the episode).

So yeah, going by your scale, i'd say blade was better than index. There is nothing basic about revenge. if you go that way, you could say any number of series are just basic revenge plots, but there is a reason revenge is so common of course. It is an easy to understand motivator. Which scenario sounds more understandable and compelling "oh hey there are two people fighting, i'm going to risk my life, and the lives of my friends, to help one of them even knowing nothing about the situation and i'm going to do it even though i'm supposedly weak, even though i'm actually godlike" or "they killed my family in front of my eyes when i was a kid, then i couldn't do anything about it, but now i will finally get my revenge against them at any cost." Not to mention you can summarize the plot of index with "Touma goes on adventures to increase his harem with shallow, helpless women who exist solely to be saved by him"

I gotta tell ta I was really looking forward to this anime because I loved the manga and the basic idea for the main character, but the anime fell off big time. The ending? It was freakin terrible in every aspect. In fact im not really even gonna call that an ending. There was no resolution to either of the main characters and I dont even know if im gonin to watch a second season if they have one later on.

Now I see why people didn't like it much - it ends before the best stuff in the series even begins. A great deal of the character development kicks in later on as well so no wonder. Besides the anime version seriously lacks that unique visual style the manga is famous for - when you look at the animation it's no more than average or mediocre which pretty much can be said about the music and voice acting as well. Meh, the series deserves a better adaptation than this.

6/10 - just because it's Blade of the Immortal.

Not sure what's with the hate?

In episode one, Manji's sister gets slashed, instead of cut into three pieces, for censorship reasons (...which made no sense when limbs are removed, later). And in episode three, Manji gets slashed instead of being cut in half (...).

There were also some BAD music choices in the first half of the series (there weren't many/any in the last half), too. Another issue worth noting is that the fight with Kuroi was ruined by lifeless filler designed to make it fit. But there aren't any other flaws of note, aside from it ending in a 'GO READ THE MANGA!' kind of way. In fact, it followed the manga so faithfully that, when reading it after the anime got me interested, I felt like I was re-reading it.

Before I'd read the manga, I thought the anime was in the 7-8/10 range. I lowered my rating to 7/10 because of the ending. However, after reading the manga, seeing how the anime NAILED most of the content, starting with Makie's introduction arc, made me raise my rating to 8/10. Ignoring Samura's sketchy, pencil shaded style, the characters looked as attractive as they do in the manga; the animators doing a wonderful job of copying. And, as an adaptation, it didn't miss a beat after some early scares.

The issues people have with the action lie with Samura: his action not being easy to follow and often stopping for chit-chat. It looks good when frozen and with the odd double-page finishing move spreads but doesn't last as long, or have the same feel, away from the pages it was created on. I wasn't fussed because BotI is more of a character-driven drama where the fights are exciting because of what's at stake, rather than it being thrilling purely because of the fights. (And Makie's fight was good, anyhow.)

It's deserving of a higher average than 7/10; the limit for 'good' titles, by MAL's standards. Even the music, which is often bashed, isn't bad--there are many good tracks included. It's just, some tracks don't fit and the selection was off.

This show deserves the 7/10 rating. For something with so much potential, ending a series half way through is pathetic. 1/5 for the final ep.

Well I just started watching this anime this week and was really enjoying it. Somewhere I saw some review that said the characters were badly drawn the production was cheap and the whole thing was a pile of rubbish. I was wondering if I was wondering if I was watching the same manga as in the review.

I personally felt that the it was well drawn and enjoyed the look and feel over some other anime. I thought the plot was okay and some points of the movie made me laugh.

I was sunned when I watched episode 13..I could not believe I had just watched the last of the series. I was like wtf...loads of folk were all saying goodbye n stuff and was a little confused as I though well it really is not ending there......but it does :( and there is no second season.

For my liking it ended far to abruptly but i realize it was meant to go on and i know there is a manga too. So looks like i'll have to start reading the manga as I was just getting comfy watching the plot unfold.

Anyone who has read the manga should have known right away that there was no way the plot would be resolved within 13 episodes.
Personally, i prefer this 'go read the manga'-ending over what would have most likely been a very shitty 'anime original'-ending. At least this way it's pretty easy to switch over.

As a big fan of the manga i am mostly pleased with the anime. It has it's faults, the biggest one being that the meat of the series only starts after where the anime stops, but it's hardly the studio's fault that no one in the anime industry nowadays has any interest in financing or buying adaptions of long seinen series.

For a go read the manga ending, it was a pretty meh show all around apart from the start, which was actually interesting. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either and I'm certainly in no rush or care to read the manga. I'd give it 6.

the episode was horrible.
come on, it was that thing of "okay, this is the last one, let's say goodbye and stop the story here." idk if they intended to make a second season or not, and it was obvious that the whole manga wouldn't fit in thirteen episodes but this ended not being a standalone piece.
we are left with no ending at all. really good characters were left out and good parts of the story too.
why did they introduce hyakurin so early in the anime if they were not gonna use her for anything? and anotsu. he was supposed to be the main enemy on this first part and we only see him once or twice through the entire anime.
i liked the animation, the art and even the music. after i got used to it, the anime had this dark mood that fitted well with the series, but the writing and directing... it was a miss, sadly.

I'm glad its done and I completed it, I won't ever watch it again. Such a stupid series.

It started off great but I started to resent it as it went along, from the time he murdered that boy's father but let go of Kagehisa's girl. It became worse when she started to be doubtful about the revenge. I didn't like Manji or the girl, in fact everyone in the series pissed me off.

3/10.

This is one of the best anime in the season.
It brought back the real art of anime, stuff you don't see in newer anime.
This is how anime should be like.
and the story is deep, it is a proper novel, not your regular manga type anime.

The pacing is fine, they go back and forth between the past and present, a lot of movies and animes does the same thing.
