I managed to avoid spoilers about Reunthal, unfortunately i did not manage to avoid spoilers regarding Yang and Reinhard and that was completely my fault this time, i don't even want to mention the spoilers till i actually get to see in the anime :( still, most of the times i can enjoy certain moments in a book/anime/manga even if i have been spoiled and considering the quality of LoGH i doubt those moments will have less of an impact on me now, but when i read those spoilers i was quite upset on myself that i could not keep in hold my curiosity xD also really glad the episodes titles are at the end of the episodes since they spoil quite a lot.
So you're an Oberstein fan too :) i can't say that till episode 64 he impressed me that much, still i might start to like his character more, i have still plenty of episodes left to watch. I would say my top 5 characters from LoGH atm would be, in this order: Yang, Reuenthal, Schenkopp, Reinhard, Attenborough. Also i kinda miss Rubinsky, he's not been present lately, while not a favorite of mine, i like his cunningness and the way he dealt with his son is one of the most memorable scenes in LoGH for me.

I heard of Dance in the Vampire Bund and since i am quite a vampire fan i will probably watch it, even if i don't really like anime that have loli main characters, but i hope it will have some good fighting, at least that is what i expect from it .

I might try Yamoto then, sound interesting, right now i prefer to focus only on Logh and not watch anything else so after i finish LoGH i will give other anime a try, i think i need to give more chances to Leiji Matsumoto's anime, when i start one of his anime i am almost never impressed by its 1st episode and i know i should not judge an anime just by its 1st episodes, Terra e... ,Gungrave, both had bad 1st episodes but really impressed me afterwards .

Glad to see you've started the Votoms franchise, the 1984 tv series was great, one of the more realistic mecha anime but definitely not for everyone, it had a few flaws, mostly with the pacing, but i did enjoy this anime quite a lot.

"Anyway, so that's why you still haven't finished LoGH yourself? :D"
Hahaha , not really, but i like that anime myth :D
Anyway i am currently watching LoGH, now i am positive i will finish it this month or the next, i am not sure i will finish it this month since i just got Mass Effect 2 and it rocks, love this game. Back to LoGH it is incredible how many things can happen in an episode and the history episodes are just brilliant, character wise during this last few episodes Julian is becoming quite an interesting character, his adventures on Earth were really exciting , of course my favorite character remains Yang followed closely by Reunthal.

So how has Yamato? Also,i have no idea if you knew, but you can find on www.bakabt.com all the episodes of Galaxy Express 999, maybe you feel like watching another great series with 100+ episodes :p

Your welcome in advance xD i am just waiting for the last 3 volumes of Drifting Classroom and then i will make it, probably at the end of this week.

I do sometimes focus on one director, actor or genre, now on a genre. I did watch some new stuff but only one impressed me and that's Trick 'r Treat, a fun and also quite scary anthology, the costume and the sets were great. I also watched the Black Christmas remake, it was really bad, also some other movies but not anything worth mentioning. As for recommendations i am sure you've already watched my favorite horror movies since they are all well known: The Thing, Alien, The Shining, 28 weeks later, Dawn of the Dead, Halloween.

So you've finished LoGH! one anime myth says that once you finish watching LoGH you lose all motivation to watch any other anime xD i guess you are still in the mood for some sci-fi anime.

I just read two Hino Hideshi manga, i think you might like his manga, since you like Junji Ito's and Umezu's manga too, it's really nice to see how all this 3 mangaka have such different styles, both when it comes to the artwork and their storytelling. btw I will do a post on MangaUnderground soon and I will post 4 of his manga so if don't know where to get some of his stuff i will send you a message with the link to that post.
Since i mentioned horror manga, are you a fan of horror movies too and not just manga? just asking since i watched some horror movies this week, some newer ones, i also plan to watch some classics that i have not yet watched and there are plenty of those.

btw the last One Piece chapter was so good it made me want to continue with the anime too, downloaded some episodes, gonna start watch OP again tomorrow.
Zero Feb 8, 2010 12:40 PM
Seems like you'll finish LoGH before me, glad to see you like it so much, right now it's the only anime i kinda think of maybe watching, i am pretty sure i will continue it sometime soon.

I started reading Dorohedoro, it definitely suits my tastes, the 1st volume was entertaining, it also had a few funny moments, i like most of the characters,no sign of any cliches, overall this manga is crazy and fun and also quite random at times :) hope the next volumes are just as good as the 1st one. Also, i am up to date with Vinland Saga now, by far my favorite manga atm, too bad that it's released monthly, i want more chapters!

I would definitely want to see a Neuromancer movie,i just hope it won't be made by a no name director, i would also like more cyberpunk anime, the newest one i remember is Ergo Proxy, it would be just perfect if a new Gits season would be made....ah such dreams .

Thanks for the happy bday wishes!

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Since i have not been reading any manga or watching any anime lately i have not logged in here for quite a while, but now i am back. I am still not really in the mood for anime, but i started reading some manga, i started with Drifting Classroom, one of Umezu's manga, maybe you have heard of it, i wanted to read that one for quite some time but only 3 volumes were available in english, still recently i saw that someone starting scanning the english version so i started reading it yesterday, it's really good so far, compared to other Umezu manga i would say it''s not that gory but it has plenty of violence.

Yeah, i have heard of William Gibson, i have been planning to read some of his novels, Neuromancer, Burning Chrome and Count Zero, all this novels sound interesting so i definitely plan to read them someday. Also since you mentioned audiobooks, i am not really a fan of those, i rarely use audiobooks, i prefer to hold the book in my hands :)

Also, you must be happy, i saw that someone started releasing Shigurui again.
So have you read any good manga lately? i am asking since i am definitely in the mood for some manga after this break, I should probably try to also finish some of the many manga i already started...
Zero Jan 11, 2010 2:56 AM
I think yaoi might do more bad than good lol i might never watch anime after that, but yeah, maybe some shounen might be a good idea, or maybe i will watch some tv shows,i might take the time to finally finish Twin Peaks or The Wire .

One anime that is relatively similar to the ones you mentioned (Ergo, Casshern...) and i don't see it on your list is Wolf's Rain(post-apocalyptic world, looks great, story wise - i am not that impressed, but it's not a reason not to try it sometime). Since you mentioned Ergo Proxy i remember that that anime ended in a way that left me wanting for more, the final episode felt like that was just the beginning and the way things were left i think a sequel might be interesting to see.
Also for those who like the cyberpunk anime i think reading Philip K. Dick is a must, he really knows how to play with your mind, one of my favorite writers.

So you watched Kuchu Buranko! i read a bit about it and saw some screens on a blog, looks different and funny,i'll have to try this anime. So now that you've finished Aoi Bungaku(i still have to watch the last 2 episodes) i am curious which was your favorite story ? story wise i have one favorite and animation wise another :)

Really glad to hear that about LW&C, since it seems out tastes are quite similar i will probably find it just as amazing. I really should just focus on one manga at a time, that way i would actually finish some :)
Zero Jan 4, 2010 12:34 AM
A Happy new year to you too!

I am watching Casshern Sins now,i see you also liked it a lot and i see why. This anime looks fantastic and the scenery... i am fascinated by it, still i don't find this anime to be the best one to marathon,it is great in small doses, i can not watch more than two episodes in a row,the mood is quite pessimistic, still i find that at the end of each episodes it tries to end with a ray of hope, also i feel the need to stop after each episode and meditate on the episode i just finished watching,it is kinda like Mushishi, that anime was also great to watch in samll doses.

btw I have to say that i am kinda thinking of taking a break from anime and manga,i am not yet bored of them, but i just don't enjoy some anime/manga as much as i used to even if they are perfect for my tastes...maybe i should watch some more bad anime,i usually don't wasted my time on them since it's not like i have that much free time xD also recently i read a lot more books than i watched anime,2009 was not such a great anime year,i finished few anime series, still i happy to have found many great manga so i guess it the year of manga.

btw the last episode Mouryou no Hako was subbed now i can watch it too :D

Yeah,i read Chidaruma Kenpou Onorera ni Tsugu since it was posted on the MangaUnderground blog, it was quite good, also i do plan to read Zatoichi, i heard of the movie but i never watched. Seinen samurai are always worth reading.
When it comes to anime the last samurai related one that impressed me was Sword of the Stranger, while the story was quite predictable it had great characters and animation, the battles were very impressive,i see you have not watched it yet so give it a try when you have the time .

I am not involved in any way with the releases of Eden and i never was too curious to know in what stage we are with the new chapters, but i know we do plan to release 3 to 5 chapters of it really soon, still i doubt all the remaining chapters will be released in one go.

btw i started Aoi Bungaku, animation wise it looks incredibly good,it's got 5 or 6 stories and each one is supposed to be animated in a different style, the 1st story was dark and depressing while the 2nd one had a strange sense of humor(that i liked) and it had some quite macabre moments but presented in a more artist, beautiful way. This anime kinda reminds me of Ayakashi - Japanese Classic Horror, this anime also had a collection of 3 different stories, each one animated in a different style, since you liked Mononoke you should try it since the last story from Ayakashi follows the medicine seller from Mononoke, it's definitely the best story from Ayakashi.

I see you've finished Paranoia Agent,so how was it? while i have not seen as much as you of Satoshi Kon's work i am quite a fan of his and i do plan to watch Paranoia agent eventually too.
Zero Dec 24, 2009 1:12 PM
Don't worry you did not spoil anything,i have yet to finish Twin Peaks and lately i can't say i mind spoilers as much as i used to since it happened quite a lot of times and you never know when it will hit you next xD , it happened with Death Note,Gantz,LoGH, just to name a few.

I really don't care one bit if a anime or manga is episodic, but some anime/manga are better at just dealing with stand alone stories than others, with some you just need some time to get used to,i think this was the case with Lone wolf and cub since right now i don't really mind one bit about it being so episodic, about Mushishi, that one was just perfect every way it was :) , i did hear that some fans did not like that Mushishi was episodic, but i really don't see why,not all anime must have a continuous plot.

I do plan to finish Akira, great manga and i stopped right when Kaneda reapeared, don't really even know why i stopped,i do that quite often(that is why i have so many complete manga on hold,i really should finish some of them...), i start a manga and then i just stop,i don't actually start anything else,i just get bored quite fast of things, even if i enjoy them a lot, weird xD
Yeah,i just find it quite hard to give a manga a 10, i rate manga in a harsher way than i rate anime, even if right now i prefer manga over anime...well i do have some candidates that i currently read and may receive a 10,Lone wolf and cub is one of them, then there's Akira(depending on the ending),Eden is also great, also i plan to read Sanctuary soon and that one looks like a very promising manga,i am quite sure it will turn to be a favorite of mine.

btw Happy Holidays!
Zero Dec 18, 2009 2:39 AM
Glad you liked that post.
Thanks for the link to that blog, i found out a few days ago that someone is scanlating some Junji Ito manga, but i did not check it out, now that you provided the link i also saw he did Frankenstein,i see you already read it,i just download it so i am gonna read it soon too.

I started Lone Wolf and Cub too, i have to say i was a bit bothered by it being so episodic, but by the end of the 1st volume i started to like this manga quite a lot.

So i see you finished Mouryou no Hako, how was it? i did watch the 1st two episodes some time ago,but i preferred to wait till i'll see ep.13 subbed too and then marathon it, it definitely promises to be one great mystery anime... and i love mystery :D
