Really? Blowing up an entire planet? Do they have a Death Star!? : P

Great episode as usual, continuing the conflict between the Gamillan Empire and the Yamato. The new Commander promoted to the task is quite the tenacious fighter. Had Dessler not been assassinated they would have actually killed everyone aboard. I'm eager to find out more about Dessler's assassination but seeing as he's on future BD covers he probably lived. Probably something to do with the Rebels that was mentioned earlier in the episode

This episode's space battle was intense and beautifully choreographed. The Yamato barrel rolling and shooting its cannons was awesome to watch. Okita proved once again why he's the Captain of this ship, he made best with the dis advantageous situation at hand and knows he has to risk it all to win it all(cliche I know lol) Both of the commanders were Alpha as F*** when they rammed each other.

Very nice character animations this episode, they were very expressive during the battle as well. The planet scenery was really well done too bad it got destroyed. What was up with Kaoru trying to seduce Daisuke?

Wait the future BD cover's spoiler Desslers moment? lol. Well I figured it was just too good to be true to think the leader would be taken out that easily.

The start of the episode was really the highlight with the Gamillians taking out one of their own as well as the entire planet. Though I don't support their actions or whatever as they are really led by some pretty terrible leaders who put fear first or just go too extreme reasons for whatever purpose. Somehow I guess by the end of the series were supposed to be challenged with thinking of who is really good or bad, which I figure goes back to what the humans have done as well in the first encounter scenario touched on but not fully detailed just as yet, if there is more to be said there? But I liked how the scene looked for that one destruction scene.

It felt as if somehow decided to enhance their attention to detail on the character models to make them feel like they are more in motion, or I guess give them more frames of animation. The scenes with Shima especially in the room and their coffee discussion highlighted that well and then just the various moments in battle with the Gamillian and Yamato commanders.

The battle itself was pretty good and intense for the strategy employed. I think what made it more suspenseful than previous ones was that it was just the perfect plan and what not and had it not been for that event, I wonder if Yamato would have not made it out. Though in terms of action, I think the battles are much better when they use the fighters and such for some good old one on one or one on many action. But still for this it was definitely up there for one of the best. I liked the use of the Wave Energy Shield.

And as usual my favorite displays/maps

All of the cast has really grown on me too and I hope Shima continues to be given chances to lead and what not or even just more scenes in the battles (it looked nice how it went blurry to not blurry). Kodai as well (so happy when he saw the commander in addition to his great scenes with Shima).

Mod Edit: Please use spoiler tags for large images.

Why exactly did the guy that previously commanded the Milky Way Theatre not take over again? Remember that he was specifically made second in command when the general arrived? And it's not like the fleet would have even needed a commander at that point. They'd just continued what they were doing until the Yamato would be smithereens, and fly back to the nearest base/home base. At least thats what i expect from a professional and experienced military force.

And i really doubt that they need every single ship as fast as possible back at home or wherever else. They had a giant fleet, even bigger then the one sent against the Yamato assembled just to blow up some undefended planet. It's not like they are short on ships and under a full scale attack of a superior enemy. At least we don't know anything about something like that so far.

It's probably because they didn't want the general to add this to his victories now that they (probably) want to get rid of him. More difficult if he's (even more) popular. At least story-wise. More importantly, they needed a reason for the Yamato to not be destroyed on the spot, with the odds stacked against them that much.

Wow that guy was assassinated. Never imagined.

The art was stunning. Execution was brilliant. Story was solid. Nonetheless the series is not popular: this thread has four posts only. No wonder today's creators rarely make solid & serious mecha anime of this kind. It's a pity.

I'm pretty sure that Dessler is alive. And the conspirators on the Yamato are close to doing their thing it seems. A shame, I used to really like Nimi before, but now get the feeling she'll do something nasty.

The battle scenes were awesome. I loved when the 2 commanders faced each other head on. Oh, and did anyone else get a flashback to LOGH when Yang Wenli has the Kaiser's ship in his sights but is forced to pull back after orders from home?

Stake truly stunning, the pace and the technical part of the plot make for a pleasant vision, and for me that I had not eaten for a long time anime has been a blessing. Then the plot twists were really priceless to remain truly open-mouthed. Really deserves full marks for me.

*Raises hand.

And adding the great animation and the director being the one who directed Char's counterattack, of course the battles would be amazing.

What a great episode.
I assume they wanted them to retreat because of the rebellion or something, but why the whole fleet when they're so close to destroying Yamato, I wonder..

Now that was a big twist! Did not see that coming at all!!! But I rather doubt Lord Desler is dead.

Still finding it unbelievable that Yamato survived...It would have taken literally another 30 seconds for them to be destroyed......Even if Lord Desler was assassinated doesn't mean you should just ditch a extremely dangerous potential enemy who is almost dead -.- Even though I want Yamato to survive I still cannot overlook this major plot flaw....

I also don't like what Niimi and the security boys are up to...I have a really bad feeling about this...

P.S. They changed the ED song NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! The last one was better

Yeah, the only way the decision to pull back makes any kind of sense is if they didn't want the Yamato destroyed, but that doesn't make much sense either.

This episode was great destruction of a planet plus the leader of the Gamillians assassinated. It looks like someone framed Domel for it.

Great action, I'm assuming the person who got killed was a decoy or he was able to escape. Surely they wouldn't kill the main antagonist this early when he has barely even done anything.

Didn't expect that Lord Draser would be killed this early, nice plot twist.

Its strange they manage to survive everytime at the last moment lol, also their ship got hit several times this episode (after the shield worn out) and also at the previous episodes and the ship (Yamato) continues to fly in space normally, i find this Illogical.

Nevertheless, very entertaining episode, The level of animation got even better.

Great Episode.

A formidable episode, one can not but praise the narrative that always invents something new to spark interest in the spectator. The bombing and destruction of the planet due to the choices of Gimill, is one of the most spectacular and terrible parts of the episode, thanks to the quality of the graphics really high.

That genocide scene at the beginning was absolutely brilliant. It's makes it so much more satisfying to see they Yamato destroying Garmillas ships at the end of the episode as it reminds us how truly horrible they are, after we'd been made to sympathise with them.

The beginning of this episode made it clear once again.
No matter who started the war between humans and gamilas, if the humans didn't, the gamilas would have.

Looks like Kodai is kinda oblivious when it comes to love. He doesn't notice that two women are hitting on him, hehe.

But for me, Yuria Misaki is the most interesting character right now, since she seems to be "possessed" or influenced by the Iscandarian that's in that cryo-pot that's in the navigation room.

But I still wonder who the second Iscandarian was that she mentioned in the last episode.
We have the one that was sent to earth a year ago for the blueprints, the one that is now in that cryo-pot. But where did the second come from? Is she inside that wave-motion-generator-core thing? The one they met on Mars died and was buried there, so it couldn't be her, could it?

Indeed. I can understand why Yang wouldn't do it, but these Gamillans should attack Yamato a bit more while retreating lol

The genocide on planet Alteria with Gamillan anthem playing was glorious!

Anyway, I can tell the closed eye head of security might have connection with Gamillan. Remember Dessler on hotline?

The plot is progressing in several directions, which I appreciate (although I can't imagine how the show would handle so many plot threads, it's not as long as LOGH u know)
1) The girl-with-elf-ears is "the last of the Jirels" (some ancient race). She just confirmed that the Iscandarians had the Wave Motion Core (what's with the implied invasion to Iscandar hinted to before?)
2) Misaki seems like she lost her memories or fused them with the memories of the Iskandarian ghost. She's acting strange.Calling the "Wave Motion Gun" a weapon of mass destruction made by "HIM"...Dessler? So Dessler made this thing and sold/gave it to Iscandarians?
3) Akira has a crush on Kodai
4) Domel's wife is a secret rebel?
5) Niimi seems to have plans regarding Earth-like planets. It had been said before that she was a member of another project (before Yamato) aimed at terraforming planets and relocating humanity. That's why she's so interested in Earth-like planets. But whyyyy does she look so suspicious and nefarious?
6) Facial expressions were great. Especialy in tha ramming scene and during a short dialogue between Niimi and Shima
7) New ED song is worse than the previous one :-[
8) Dessler is probably not dead.
9) Domel will likely be removed due to his wife's possible connection to rebel forces.
10) The space battle was cool but I just can't believe an entire fleet (in fact even several fleets) couldn't destroy Yamato and just warped out. This is *way* too convenient. Yeah, the officers might not have wanted Domel to have an achievement in destroying Yamato, but hell it was like 1 minute before the complete annihilation of Yamato, the instant warp was stupid and too lucky for the main cast.

Woah, did Dessler really just die!? maybe a doppelganger.

The planet killing looked really cool but felt wholly unnecessary cause a planet would prove to be a valuable asset for its natural resources and labor workforce. I would never criticize a show for something like this but given the ridiculously high standards this show has set for itself it did feel like it wasn't thought through enough.

This was definitely the most perilous situation the Yamato has been in, for shows like this they have to succeed in their mission for the show to actually continue so what the writers have to do is put them in situations where the viewers start to doubt whether they might make it out alive, and this was the second time where they've successfully done that to me.

If Dessler is really dead, might have great repercussions in the grand scheme of things cause a lot of the Garmillas hierarchy don't seem to like each other, so could prove to be their downfall.
